Chapter Seventy-Seven: Emily's POV

As soon as the trial ended, Dylan and I rushed to find Ezekiel. I needed to speak with Reynolds, and Ezekiel was the only one who could make it happen. I couldn't wait because I was already going crazy with questions.

"Ezekiel, please." My voice trembled with desperation when we finally found him. "I have to talk to Reynolds. I need answers."

Ezekiel looked at us skeptically, clearly hesitant about granting our request. "Emily, I get where you are coming from, but you have to understand that the council has its rules," he explained. "Reynolds is a dangerous man, and I don't want to risk your safety."

I felt my frustration growing, my fingers curling into tight fists at my sides. "Come on Ezekiel," I begged, a sad look on my face. "This is about my parents. He killed them, Ezekiel. I need to know why. I need to know the truth.”
