Chapter Seventy-Eight: Dylan's POV

As I sat in the car with Emily, watching the way her body trembled as she cried, I felt a deep pain in my chest.

The revelations we heard today had been so devastating, tearing open old wounds and exposing cruel truths that had been hidden for so long.

"Should we go home?" I asked gently as my hand reached out to give hers a reassuring squeeze. Her eyes, still red from crying, met mine, and I could see the inner conflict she was experiencing.

"I..." she began, her voice barely audible. "I think I would like to go see Daniel."

I couldn't help but frown. "Are you sure?" I asked, worried. "You look really pale right now. Maybe we should go home and rest first. We could go to see him in the evening or even tomorrow."

But she shook her head. "No, Dylan," she insisted. "I need to see him. It's my fault he's in the hospital battling for his life.”

I wanted to protest, to tell her that none of this was her fault, that she was carrying more than enough on her shoulders already. But I knew
