Chapter 6

Author: No Questions Asked
Loser? Had no right to call her mother?

Why did Wendy not say that years ago?

Even if her family was rich now, there should be a limit to how quickly she turned against him.

Back then, Luna's family were bogged down by debt, and every day had been a struggle. Even their friends and relatives gave them a wide berth, terrified that they would ask for a loan.

At that time, who was the one who had cleared their debts and afforded them a life where they did not have to worry about their basic necessities? One might even say that Luna's family were living in hell before, and Ted was the one who had taken them to paradise.

But now?

In fact, Ted never held out much hope and was just used to being respectful since they came anyway.

And that respect only got him such an insult—this shall not stand!

"In that case, there's nothing else to say." Ted snorted. "There's nothing connecting me to Luna, and it's the same for you two. This is my house—please leave."

Wendy simply laughed.

Leave? Hell no!

"How despicable can you be?!" she snapped right then. "Telling me to leave?! Who do you think you are?! And how dare you pretend that this house is yours—why don't you think for a moment how much money you've ever made, loser? Can you even afford such a huge house?! If anyone's leaving, it's you! This is my daughter's house, not yours!"

Ted chuckled—there it was.

Wendy really did not disappoint, nor did the rest of her family, as they were finally baring their fangs and showing their greedy nature.

And Wendy had come to chase him off and to claim every last bit of wealth!

But did Ted even care about that?

Never—not even once—and it certainly would not happen in the future either.

In fact, when he signed the divorce papers, he had made it very clear that he would not take anything that Luna had bought with her money.

Even now, he was just packing his own stuff.

Nevertheless, he was not the type who took everything lying down. Not everyone got to trample his dignity, exploit him, and insult him!

Scoffing, he said, "Yeah, you're right—Luna did buy the house, but what about it? We're divorced, and the papers clearly state that everything from the house, the car, a big wad of cash, and the restaurant are mine. Legally speaking, I own it now. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

Reclining against his seat, he poured himself a cup of tea, took a sip, and chuckled. "But I really don't want this crap—never did. And I've already told Luna in no uncertain terms that I don't want her so-called compensation, but she insisted on giving it to me.

"That begs the question: has she changed her mind? Or is it just you two trying to claim everything for yourselves?"

"Oh, you greedy sow… Even your manners are so sickening—I almost forgot how pathetic you were when you had begged me for scraps."

Wendy was left flushing in rage by Ted's humiliating diss.

Dean flew into a rage right then, bellowing, "How dare you insult my mom! I'll kill you!"

And with those words, he charged at Ted.

While Dean might fear his parents and Luna, he never feared Ted.

After all, Ted had never snapped, and that made him think that Ted was an impotent loser through and through.

And why would he fear such a loser? You must be kidding.

However, he forgot that things were different now.

When Ted signed his divorce papers, that meant he had cut all ties with the Lamberts.

And he had been utterly respectful earlier—since they refused to play nice, they only had themselves to blame for what came next.

In fact, Ted was sneering as he watched Dean charge toward him, and he suddenly splashed his scalding tea all over Dean's face, leaving Dean screaming in an instant.

Wendy paled and rushed up to Dean, almost dying inside as she watched boils appear across Dean's face from the scalding tea.

"Ted York!" she bellowed like a raging lioness. "How dare you throw tea on my son! I'll kill you! I'll definitely kill you!"

Ted simply shrugged and asked coolly, "Kill me? Do you have what it takes? You'd better recognize your situation—I only respected you before because I'm civilized and sentimental. But now that you've spat on my goodwill and tried to screw with me, you'd keep taking me for some pushover if I don't fight back.

"What, did you think I'd let you bully me? So fuck off, or I'll make you."

However, Wendy would deny herself before allowing herself to be intimidated by Ted. "So in the end, you just want our money! Stop trying to make yourself noble—don't take anything from us if you dare! You're nothing but a loser, and a greedy loser at that! I'll give it to you straight: You're not taking a cent from my family, or I'll kill you if that's the last thing I do!"

As for Dean, he was shaking with so much rage that he could kill.

"I'll kill you! I'll kill you!" he bellowed. "Just you wait! I'm a big deal in Melville! I'll kill you!"

As he kept rambling, he suddenly snapped and picked up a vase, ready to smash it over Ted's head.

It would at minimum cause brain damage even if it did not kill—he really was ready to kill as he threatened.

However, Ted's eyes flashed coolly as he quickly caught Dean's forearm and squeezed.

Bones crushed audibly, as Ted broke his forearm in an instant!

Yet another scream resounded in the room.

Wendy charged at Ted in a frenzy too.

Hurting her son?! Ted could well have killed her!

However, Wendy and her potty mouth had been grating on Ted's nerves too, and…

Smack!

With one vicious slap across Wendy's face, Ted sent her spinning one full rotation before collapsing on the floor, blood foaming out of her mouth as a tooth fell out.

Her disbelief then was much greater than the fiery pain on her cheek, and she shrieked, "Y-You slapped me! You piece of shit! How dare you! I'll kill you!!!"

Snapping utterly right then, Wendy scrambled to her feet to charge at Ted, ready for blood!

Ted was already full of pent-up rage even as he watched Wendy charge at him, while Dean cursed his name amid his screams of agony.

Suddenly, he slammed his palm on the marble coffee table.

It gave Dean and Wendy pause, as they gaped in shock while the huge coffee table cracked and fell apart.

At the same time, Ted's eyes seemed bloodshot and murderous, silencing Dean and Wendy right then.

"What happened, Ms. Lambert?"They were still at the office, so Josie stuck with Luna's formal title, or it would be unruly.Luna turned to Josie, flustered. "My dad just called, saying that my mom and Dean are hurt—Dean even has a broken arm and had his face disfigured. And you know my dad isn't like my mom… He wouldn't say something like that unless he saw it with his own eyes."Josie was stunned—she did not expect it to be that bad."Alright, I'll drive you to the hospital. Don't worry—we'll soon be there, and we'll find out what happened. That said, how did this happen? Weren't they just fine this morning? Why were they attacked? Luna smiled sweetly, convinced that Jimmy loved her too.Still, she was not confident around him, and her usual lofty girlboss demeanor vaporized around him.And seeing Luna just then, there was a flicker of jealousy in Josie's eyes, though she stayed indifferent and said, "If you need an excuse to go to Eastport, I actually have one. Adam White's family will be celebrating his birthday soon, and as Lunacorp has received plenty of help from the White family, isn't this the perfect opportunity?"Moreover, considering the connection between the Cash family and the White family, Mr. Cash would definitely attend it. Then you have every reason to meet up, don't you?"As Luna's assistant, Josie was better informed than Luna on occasion. Moreover, there were many things that Josie would sieve through before bringing to Luna's attention."Adam White is celebrating his birthday?!" Luna quickly exclaimed. "Why didn't you tell me sooner, Josie? This is serious—I would attend it even if Mr. C

Luna said coolly, "Don't worry, Mom. I'll definitely help you on this and make Ted pay."Wendy nodded but soon gritted her teeth. "Luna, I heard that you gave him a lot of money when you divorced him? You shouldn't have—he's an ingrate, so take back everything from him. Don't give him a single cent, so that he'd have to beg for alms on the streets."As Wendy finished, she turned, her eyes fixed on Luna.To be honest, she was actually worried that Luna would say yes.If she did, the plot she and Dean hatched together would be exposed, and she was not about to say that out loud.Nonetheless, Luna frowned. "The money's nothing, Mom—it at least ensures that I can have peace after the divorce, and it's the best thing to do. Don't worry… I know what I'm going to do about him, but he can keep the money. Otherwise, we'd get more than what we bargained for if we mess up my plans."Though Wendy was inwardly relieved, she made an angry face and snapped, "Easy for you to say! That's not a sm

Pantera smiled. He had been worried Ted would conceal the identity of this woman who had dumped him, only for this Panther of Melville to come running in and mention her out of the blue.It was a huge coincidence, but Pantera frowned at Panther's rude entrance without a knock. He stayed quiet, since Panther was supposedly Ted's friend, and waited to see how Ted reacted—even though Panther didn't really look like a friend.Wolfie, meanwhile, rolled his eyes and glared at Panther like he was an idiot. He knew a bit of the state of Easton's underworld and had more or less heard of Panther. He was at best a little infamous and didn't bolster much strength… to put it harshly, Mr. Zarkonnen and the others really didn't care about him.And while Wolfie wouldn't have cared what Panther did to Ted before, things were different now.As such, both Wolfie and Pantera stayed silent, waiting to see what Ted would do.That was when Ted frowned at Panther and asked quietly, "Panther, you say?

Ted York, the former Quill family heir, also known as Theodore the Magnificent, King of the Celestial Throne, the Forsaken Emperor whose name shook the world, and the Tenth Monarch whose existence left the world breathless, was divorced? And dumped? Was that even remotely possible? The woman had to be crazy to do that.Beyond others, the countless women who admired Ted York would've all gone crazy for him.Even Wolfie, who had been silent as he stood nearby, could see that Pantera was skeptical.Pantera aside, he himself was left to wonder. He naturally knew about Ted's divorce but didn't have all the details. While he thought nothing of it before, having been around Ted and seeing the things happening around him left him questioning if Luna Lambert was really worthy of Ted.Finding a man like Ted was nothing less than a miracle against all odds, yet Luna dumped him, just like that? She had to be deranged…Nonetheless, Ted, smiling, asked quietly, "When have I ever joked about

Meanwhile, Panther put away his phone and looked up at the sign that said 'Charity Hearts', hesitant if he should barge in to capture Ted York or wait outside. He couldn't make a scene, not in Eastport—Luna notwithstanding, he himself was reluctant, as things could go bad if his presence there became known.Checking the time, he mused to himself for a moment before turning to his henchmen. "Do you think we should wait or go in?"Naturally, we have to be quiet even if we are grabbing him. Ideally, we should force Ted to come quietly so that no one notices."Panther's henchmen were left scowling at his question. How were they supposed to respond? Why were there so many restrictions when they were supposed to just grab one man?Sure, there were pros to going in, but that was only if Ted came quietly with them. One of them said, "If it were up to me, we should go in. Let's pretend to be customers, and once we find where Ted is, we will go up to him and greet him like we're old frien

Luna continued, "Moran Group has a strong influence in Easton, the family is not to be underestimated. Most importantly, they are a client we got with our own efforts, and that makes them our contact. If we want respect, we need to accomplish something on our own instead of relying constantly on others' connections."Josie nodded quietly, though she appeared hesitant. "Do we really have to? He's nothing good, and he was already lusting after you the first time. It'd be dangerous if we went straight into his turf."Leslie Moran's entire appearance was inherently sleazy—fiftyish, balding, and fat-bellied—but the man was somehow even sleazier than he looked. The prior breakdown of negotiations stemmed from Leslie's solicitation of sexual favors, including engaging in overtly frisky and vulgar conduct at the table.Just remembering it left Josie sick, as she had been molested herself. While Luna had the White family's protection, Leslie didn't know that, revealing his true nature.H

Did he truly have nothing better to do? Or perhaps he was hoping to build good karma?Still, she remained indifferent to Ted's true thoughts and promptly told Panther, "Just do as I said before. I don't care what you do as long as you grab and restrain him."Panther promptly nodded. "Alright, Ms. Lambert! Don't worry, I know what to do. It might take some time since you told us not to cause a scene, and this restaurant—Charity Hearts, is a little important, so we have to be smart about this. But don't worry, it will be done in an hour."Luna cared little about the proces

Would anyone believe it even if they were told? Naturally, there was a chance that it was true, but how important did the family have to be to actually disrespect someone like Pantera? And while Pantera knew nothing about Ted's personal life, Wolfie did all too well. The man wasn't just married—he was divorced, and to add insult to injury, he was labeled a loser and the one who got dumped. To Wolfie, it still felt like a dream. On top of that, he was interested to see how Luna Lambert would react upon discovering this. After all, the ex-husband whom she had deemed a loser turned out to be the former heir of the Quill family, a prominent guest of the White family, Viper Scorch's friend, and now, Pantera Medlar's esteemed boss.Still, it would most likely feel like a lottery winner who lost their ticket—they'd be wishing they were dead.On the other hand, Pantera's question left Ted in silence.Should he lie? When Ted York started laughing, Wolfie should have done the same, as should anyone given the opportunity to be acknowledged by a member of the Celestial Throne. But now, he didn't think of it that way. As soon as he found out about how mysterious and powerful Ted really was, he promptly threw away all his opinions and observations towards the man, because none of it was right.Seeing Ted's laugh now, Wolfie didn't perceive joy, but the same amusement he saw in Pantera.Still, Pantera actually couldn't quite catch up, and turned towards Ted as he blurted in disbelief, "I mean, I don't care how ambitious this Zarkonnen character is, but he really has the support of the East King and Lord Cloudrider? Haha! When did the Celestial Throne change its policy?"Pantera merely chuckled and eyed Wolfie. He couldn't say it because his presence might derail Ted's plan.Ted simply smiled faintly in return and said quietly, "People change, just as time changes a great many things… including pe

Pantera pursed his lips—what was wrong with Theodore the Magnificent? And it was certainly much better than 'Pants'!However, there was no helping it since Ted was the boss, and even if Pantera was himself a big deal to everyone else, he was still just an obedient henchman to Ted, a fact he would never dare argue.Ted chuckled just then. "Relax—no need to get so nervous, Wolfie. Just remember what I told you, and proceed as you should. It won't affect me if you spill the beans, but I'm going to be really upset. And if I'm upset, everything you begged for earlier won't count. Understood?""Remember the story I told you earlier? So cherish what you have and don't disappoint me."Regardless of whether Ted's words held weight, they were certainly preferable to no assurances.Wolfie was immediately profoundly grateful towards Ted, and he suddenly saw him in a different light. All the animosity and resentment Wolfie had previously harbored suddenly turned into boundless admiration for

Wolfie, however, remained on his knees, trembling and afraid to make a sound. At this point, whatever Ted York said was law—Wolfie would not dare offer even a whisper of dissent. However, he was genuinely worried about Mr. Zarkonnen, which was why he disregarded what happened to himself and begged Ted.He would never believe anything Ted said, but he was powerless, and he suspected that he wouldn't leave alive. Was what he was witnessing knowledge he should possess?Absolutely not. It had to be a secret, but Ted wasn't keeping him out of the loop. What did that mean? Was he planning to silence him? Wolfie did not even dare to think. He tried nonetheless, "M-Mr. York, I don't mind dying, and I know I have no right to ask you for anything, but I owe Mr. Zarkonnen a tremendous debt and he saved my life on numerous occasions, and I couldn't repay him. All I can do is implore you to spare his life, and I will die without regret. Please find some mercy in your heart…"Ted sighed,
