"A little?" Caelan frowned, observing Jade's flushed face and the overwhelming scent of alcohol. How dare she tell him she had only had a little to drink.

Jade felt her scalp tingle under his gaze and had to admit honestly, "Today is the first day of my company's establishment, so I drank a bit more out of happiness."

Caelan glanced at her, then strode past her and sat down on the couch.

The air felt lighter once he left.

Jade sighed in relief and couldn't figure out why he was there, sitting there with such a frosty expression.

"Have you eaten?" Jade asked, trying to appease him.

Caelan raised an eyebrow at her. "No."

"No?" Jade sneaked a glance at the clock on the wall. It was already 8:30 p.m., and he still hadn't eaten. Could it be that he had been waiting for her all this time?

As soon as this thought occurred to her, she hurriedly denied it. Caelan would never wait for her. His appearance there could only be described as an accident.
