ISABELLA

I slid inside the car when Alpha Logan opened the door for me.

I watched him, but a firm line was on his lips.

What happened?

“Good morning, Isa. I hope you had a great sleep.”

My attention snapped towards Blake and saw him smiling brightly. His cheery demeanor is the total opposite of the latter.

It made me smile back at him. “Good morning, Beta Blake—“

”Nu-uh,” he raised a finger. “If I get to call you Isa, you have to call me Blake. Just Blake.”

I nodded slowly, making him smile once again. “Okay, Blake.”

He grinned. ”You’re cute.”

I blushed.

“Drive.”

Blake and I both flinched when Alpha Logan entered the car and pulled the door close firmly. The car shook slightly.

I froze on my seat in fear, but Blake’s chuckles echoed inside, making me curious.

“Aye, aye, Alpha.”

The car quickly moved, and in just a few minutes, we were out of the Shadow Pack’s territory.

I just looked out of the window as Alpha Logan and Blake started talking about their business and some paperwork they needed to deal with when they got back.

I tuned myself out of their conversation, having known it was best if I didn't eavesdrop. It has never served me well whenever Alpha Hans noticed I knew things they didn’t want me to know.

Staring out, my eyes feasted on the image of the lycan and werewolf on the city square when we passed by again.

The statue was just humongous. The top of it even surpassed the tallest trees around the forest. It was said to have been made by pure lycan and werewolves for three years, which started the pact of peace both species agreed to.

I continued just staring out until my eyes started feeling droopy. I tried fighting off the urge to sleep by shaking my head and sitting up properly.

“Sleep, Bela. We still have a long way to go.”

I felt Logan’s hand push me back to lean on the seat. My head rested on his huge bicep. I looked at him and saw how focused he was on reading something on his tablet. His thick brows were on a crease, his lips in a thin line.

Those hazel eyes suddenly went to me. I blinked up.

”Rest. You’ll need it when we arrive in our pack.”

”O-Our pack?” My voice squeaked out as sleep continued tugging me back. His mere presence felt like a lullaby to me.

He nodded. I closed my eyes when his hand brushed my cheek, his fingers tugging at a loose dark strand of hair towards my ear.

His warmth was like a blanket of comfort. My forehead suddenly burned at the reminder of his lips on it last night.

“You’re with us now. No one is going to harm you. So let yourself rest now, Bela.”

”Hmm,” I hummed with a small smile on my face.

I let my head rest on his arm, and I succumbed to the comforting darkness of slumber.

>>>

“Isa, we’re here.”

I woke up to the sound of Blake's voice. I turned to my side and saw that I was once again alone as I woke up.

Blake’s grin welcomed me as soon as I turned back to his figure on the door.

“Slept well, princess?” I took his hand but avoided his teasing gazes as he led me out of the car.

“Where…” I bit my tongue, suddenly feeling shy about asking about Logan.

He was always nowhere in sight when I woke up.

But the thought that he was nothing like the savage and ruthless person everyone described him to be gave comfort to my bothered heart. He was nothing but gentle towards me.

A small smile tugged at my lips.

He was warm.

Blake chuckled. “Your prince is already inside.”

I looked at the house that was in front of us and I almost stepped back. I gaped.

“Welcome to the Belikov Mansion.”

I knew the place. I’ve seen it in pictures in the books I’ve read. It was the oldest lycan Alpha house in history.

”Your husband, Alpha Logan, is waiting for you inside.”

I swallowed, nodding to the Beta as he started escorting me towards it.

We walked through the huge entrance hall of the mansion, and I gaped at the crystal chandeliers on every couple of meters on the ceiling. The place was elegantly luxurious. But I was surprised how many we’ve passed through as they all greeted Blake a good afternoon.

What surprised me even more was how welcoming they were, and how except for wonder, their eyes held no judgement towards me as they also greeted me back whenever Blake introduced me to them.

“Alpha,” Blake called as soon as we turned to another wing in the hall. And there indeed was Alpha Logan, standing in front of a huge double door that looked like an office. He was already dressed in a different suit that was clean.

“Come, Isabella. We are meeting my father.”

My heart immediately jumped. I took his hand that was already reaching out to me. Blake stood behind us as without any pause, Alpha Logan knocked on the door three times and opened it.

Inside was a room full of books and wooden furniture. A wooden chandelier also hung lowly in the middle which casted a gold beam inside the already cozy-looking room. Added to that was a fireplace I could see on the other side.

I didn’t expect such a homey place for the lycan king to occupy.

“Father,” Alpha Logan and Blake bowed at the man who was sitting on a swivel chair. I followed them.

“Logan, Blake, and Regina.”

”No,” I bit my lip when he interjected. They were no longer bowing, but I looked down on the floor, instinctively trying to be inconspicuous.

The room may be homey, but there was no denying how grand and huge their presence was. I felt so small in the midst of the strongest lycans in our land.

”This is Isabella. I married her instead of Han’s daughter.”

”Is that so?”

The man behind the swivel chair finally faced us as he held a book in his hands.

I blinked, my blue eyes rounded as I saw a carbon copy of the man who was standing beside me.

The lycan king was just an older version of his son. Except for his eyes. He had dark pits, while his son had a dance of colors in his.

“Welcome to Blood Moon Pack, Isabella.”

”T-thank you, Your Grace.” I quickly bowed again, my voice sounding so small compared to his booming one.

“What were you to Hans?” I glanced at Alpha Logan and Blake at the king’s question.

I did my best not to fidget. “I-I am his daughter’s servant, Your Grace. I was R-Regina’s maid.”

”Which is not the point.” Alpha Logan quickly added even when his father just continued staring at me.

“The agreement was to marry anyone from Lunar Pack, and I have done that.”

”Very well,” was the only response the king gave after a moment of silence.

I looked back and forth between Alpha Logan and his father. And I could see that they were having a silent conversation as my husband’s brows continued creasing at his father’s calm, almost stoic face.

I looked down, feeling like I was insufficient.

“You may escort Isabella to her room, Beta.” The king commanded.

”Isa,” Blake gestured at me to follow him, which I quickly did. But before we left, the king nodded his head at me, still staring, as if trying to gauge how I managed to let his son settle with me.
