“Whew! That was hectic.” Carol said as she and Sebastian got back to her suite after dinner.
“Huh? What was hectic?”
“Having to pretend to be in love with you and all that. My cheeks hurt from smiling at you all evening.” Carol said, laughing and causing Sebastian to raise one eyebrow in mock surprise and annoyance.
“I’m highly offended. How can you suggest that these appealing features of mine are a chore to smile at?” He quipped, mock frowning at her. Carol burst out laughing at this. She had not known that Sebastian could be a playful person at all. The sound of her laughter sounded so melodious to Sebastian’s ears that he paused to stare at her pretty face until Carol tucked a strand of her luxurious ash blonde hair at the back of her ear nervously, no doubt wondering why he was staring at her.
Carol watched Sebastian as he got his gear for diving together. He seemed really excited to go on this expedition and she was sure that she was being a spoilsport, but she just could not help herself and she was scared of the ocean. Supposing it was something that she had thought of or considered doing before now, it would have been a different situation.“You seem to like diving a lot.” She commented as he zipped up his bag and moved to another part of the suite to pick something else.“I sure do. I’ve been doing it since I was eleven. Anytime I go on vacation to places like this, I always make sure to take the opportunity to go diving. You can say that I’m a pro at it, but it’s okay if you’re not into it. In my experience, I’ve learned that it is better not to force someone to want to like it, so you can just come and watch, or you can sun on the beach if you want. I just don’t want you to be bored while I’m up and about enjoying myself.”“Awww. That’s so thoughtful and s
Carol joined Mr. James and his wife, where they were relaxing by the beach, and watching the waves, already regretting her outburst at Sebastian. It was not his fault that those girls had swarmed around him like a flock of bees, after all, he was a highly desirable man, and he was rich too. Women naturally tended to flock around men like that. Carol did not wish to acknowledge it, but she knew exactly why she was so pissed. She was green with envy. Envy that she lay beside Sebastian at night to sleep, and had lived with him for the past nine to ten months, yet could not summon up the courage to touch him as boldly as that girl had after knowing him for all of ten minutes or even less.“So you chickened out of the scuba diving thingy then?” Mrs. James asked as Carol came over and spread her blanket beside hers so she could lay on it. Nothing gave her pleasure as much as just lying on the beach and staring at the waves with a cool drink in her hands.“Yes. Maybe some other time.” “That
Melissa left a few minutes later, after collecting Carol’s phone number so that they could meet up later that evening. Once she left, Carol began gathering her stuff to leave too as she was tired of waiting around for Sebastian to come back. If he wanted to act childishly about the whole thing, well, that was his cup of tea. She had finished gathering her stuff and was about to leave when she saw him striding toward her, looking like a million bucks. His face, however, was another story. He looked very pissed and grabbed her hand the moment he came close enough to her.“Hey! Let go of me this instant. What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”“What the fuck is wrong with you?”“Why on earth are you asking me that?” Carol asked him.“Because you’ve been avoiding me. I’ve searched practically everywhere for you. I really don’t know what is pissing you off, and I’m sorry about that. But, you can’t just go off wandering about without informing anyone. The world is not a safe
Sebastian sighed and gathered her into his arms, her soft body pressing against his hard one. His dick was unbelievably hard and he longed for release, but he would be damned if he rushed this. So, he kissed her slowly and passionately, caressing her neck with his hands and holding her tightly against him, so that she could feel just how horny she made him.“You’re so unbelievably hot, Carol.” He breathed, taking his lips from off her own for a second before going back in to kiss her passionately. Carol moaned into his mouth, hardly able to believe that she felt so aroused, merely from kissing Sebastian. She ran her arms across his naked, wet shoulder as she had been dying to do since forever, and marveled at the hard, smooth feel of his rippling muscles beneath her palm.“I love your body,” Carol informed him shyly, taking her mouth from off his own to look him in the face.“Thanks. I’ve wanted to see what you look like underneath your clothes for some time now and to be h
Carol was awoken later that afternoon around 3:45 by the loud and insistent ringing of her phone. She picked it up to see that it was the lady from the pool this afternoon, Melissa, who was calling her. Carol groaned pitifully, and padded out to the balcony of the suite to answer the call, so as not to wake Sebastian, who was still sleeping peacefully beside her. Carol could not believe that she had had sex… and with Sebastian too. Her whole body was sore, but in a good way, and she could not wait to repeat the activity again. “Hello.” “Hello, Carol.” The girl sang, but something about her tone gave off false sincerity, or maybe that was just Carol. “Yeah, Melissa. How’s it going?” “Oh, it’s going well. I hope you remember that we have the spa session
Throughout the sessions, the women were mostly quiet, each person lost in their own thoughts. It was only when the masseuses had finished their work and the women were relaxing that Mrs. James brought up the topic that she was talking about earlier. “So as I was saying, I have my reasons for asking what I asked you earlier. I see the way you look at Sebastian and I know that you are already falling in love with him or if not, you’re well on your way there. Now, don't get me wrong at all. That is not a bad thing. In fact, it is what is his uncle and I desperately hoped for. That he will find a nice woman who will be in love with him so that he can stop pining after his ex.” She paused for a minute, glancing over at where Melissa was pretending to be asleep beside Carol, who was in the middle of both women. Carol nodded, wishing that the woman would stop talking. She was feeling very boneless, what with the good sex that she had had earlier on, and then the massage that
Charlotte lay with her eyes closed, pretending to be sleeping, but eavesdropping on both women’s conversation while they thought she was asleep. What she was doing was so exhilarating, because of how dangerous it was. These women were here playing friends with her without realizing that she was the one who had kidnapped Sebastian’s ex, almost killed her, and even had her in her custody right this minute. They also had no idea of the type of plans that she had in store for them both, because although Sebastian’s wife had not done anything to her really, she was guilty by association, which was more than enough for Charlotte to hate her. Besides, contrary to what Mrs. James thought, Charlotte was certain of the fact that Sebastian felt something for his wife, no matter how small. He looked far different from what he had looked like in the first months after Jessica went missing and the months after his marriage. He looked happier, and that did not go down well with her at all. It was a
Once they had gotten rid of Melissa, Carol and Mrs. James hurried back to Mrs. James's suite to find Mr. James being tended to by a local physician that they had brought in, as the man stubbornly refused to go to the hospital. A somber-faced Sebastian was there too and he looked up at Carol as she and his aunt entered the room. Just looking at him made her whole body tingle, making her long for more of what they had shared this afternoon, but it would be callous of her to think about such a thing now. She averted her gaze as soon as he met her eyes, suddenly feeling very shy.“How are you feeling?” She heard Sebastian ask, and raised her gaze to meet his to see that it was her he was directing the question at. She knew just what was referring to, and glanced hurriedly at Mr. and Mrs. James to see if they understood, but Mrs. James was busy with her husband, much to Carol's relief.“I’m fine thank you, and how are you feeling?” She asked in turn, referring to the fact that his
The sun was shining brightly this morning, and Carol was in lively spirits. It was her vow renewal day. She and Sebastian had opted to just renew their vows, and this time, make them with more meaning. Her joy knew no bounds, and her face radiated with it, as Mrs. James noted with pleasure. “You look very happy, my dear.” Mrs. James stated, cradling a three-month-old baby James in her arms, her face taking on the radiant look that many-a-grandmother had when they had the pleasure of holding their grandkids. “I can say the same about you, aunty. You’re really glowing.” Carol complimented in turn, taking care not to ruin the work of the lady who was doing her makeup. “I know, right? Baby James here has brought such sparkle into our lives. I’m more than thankful that I live close to you guys. I will be able to see as much of this handsome little face as I want.” Mrs. James said, looking down at the baby she carried in her arms. He stared back at her and babbled some meaningless baby wo
The weeks after Sebastian came to plead with Carol to come back into his life were the sweetest ones of Carol’s life. She had thought that Sebastian was attentive and sweet to her before, but now, she knew that that was an understatement. He treated her like a fragile egg that could break at any time, and Carol was happily soaking up all the attention and affection. She still hadn’t gotten used to the way he just seemed to throw money around, but was more than grateful and touched, when he bought two flashy cars and a huge mansion not too far from them for her father, whom she could tell was very lonely.“I know that you’ll love to be close to your grandchild once he’s born." Sebastian had said as though it was nothing, waving away Donald’s thanks when the latter had broken down in tears, telling him that he did not deserve it. Now, Carol could easily hang out with her father anytime she wanted, and she was so happy about it.Sebastian didn’t work as hard as he did before any longer,
“Carol.” It was just one word, but that one word was enough to break the stupor she had been in as soon as she saw him.“Sebastian.” She said in turn, standing up to go bring another chair for him to sit down, but in essence, she was trying to buy herself some time to get her breathing under control. He looked so good and smelled so nice that it was all she could do not to throw herself straight into his arms and breathe in his essence as though her very life depended on it. She saw Sebastian’s eyes widen at the small bump under her loose gown, and her hand went to hold it selfconsciously.“It’s growing.” She told him needlessly and then slammed her mouth shut. She sort of felt nervous being in Sebastian’s presence and wished that she had worn a more flattering dress than the one that she had on now, but there was nothing she could do about it now. Sebastian collected the chair from her and brought it over to place it i
It was a warm, sunny, and bright day, but it was also a slow one. Carol sat in the tiny bookshop in which she had gotten a job the very day she got here, waiting for customers to come in and fighting sleep. She was the only one in the shop, as the owner had dashed off to prepare for her birthday party, leaving Carol all alone in the shop.“Don’t worry. You’ll be able to handle it. Price tags are on every book, so you don’t need to worry about not knowing the prices. If you need anything, my number is pasted on the wall over there, so you can call me. Bye now.” The middle-aged woman had said, sailing out the door before Carol could even say anything else, so here she was, bored beyond measure and counting the seconds as the time ticked slowly by. She had managed to sell two books, but it seemed that the shop did not get any customers, because, for the remainder of the time, she just sat there alone, staring into space … and missing Sebastian,
Sebastian fought the urge to retch as he observed his surroundings and the woman in front of him. If this was where Carol was staying, then he would drag her home with him today, even if he had to drag her kicking and screaming. He would not have her stay with this woman who did not like her and was clearly very irresponsible.“Hello, Belinda. Sorry to disturb you, but we’re looking for Carol. Is she here?” Mrs. James asked.“How the fuck am I supposed to know where she is, huh? Anyway, what is it to you? Is the contract not supposed to be over? Why are you still looking for her?” Belinda asked suspiciously, and he could see that she was also high on drugs.“Well, um, we had a little altercation, and I haven’t seen her since then, so I was wondering if she was here. Do you perchance, have her number? Her dad is also not answering his calls.”“Look, I don’t have any business
It was raining cats and dogs once again, exactly as it had been raining on that fateful day when Carol had left him till now. Sebastian was sitting in his aunt’s house, sipping a mug of hot coffee and ignoring everything that she was currently saying. He looked like a shadow of himself, which was not a surprise, considering the fact that most times, all he did was drink and have to deal with a nagging Jessica, who was still in his house, even though he had taken her name off the deed to the house. Because of her, he was hardly ever in his house again, but preferred to stay here at his aunt’s for a better part of the time he was not working himself to death … literally. “Are you even listening to anything I’m saying, Sebastian?” Mrs. James asked, shaking him a little to get his attention.“No, aunt. I can’t say that I am. I’m sorry, but I think I zoned out a little there. What were you saying?” He asked finally. Mrs. James shook her head, reminding him of when he was still a recalcitra
“Wh…what does he mean by this?” Donald asked at last, after scanning the text message. “Your guess is as good as mine,” Carol replied, rubbing at her face, hardly able to believe the level to which Sebastian was willing to stoop to be cruel to her. If he thought that she was going to just lay low, act like a sheep and allow him to ride all over her, then he had another thing coming. She just couldn’t get the image of that text out of her head. Good morning, Donald. How are you doing? So, have you heard from your daughter yet? I just wanted to let you know that she’s with something of mine. Something invaluable. I don’t know if she told you about it or not, but she’s pregnant with my child and according to the contract that she signed, if such a thing were to happen, then I’ll have full custody of the child. Tell her to come out of wherever
“I don’t think that what you are doing makes any sense at all, Carol,” Donald said worriedly, looking at his daughter, who averted her gaze and tried in vain to stop the tears welling up in her expressive blue eyes.“Why do you say that, dad?” Carol asked him, wiping away her tears.“Well, maybe because you’re pregnant and you choose to slave away at doing a regular job instead of taking proper care of yourself.”“A lot of pregnant women work at regular jobs, dad.”“I know that, but not a lot of them have huge lumps of money lying in their bank accounts untouched while they look malnourished. Why are you punishing yourself this way, my dear? I mean, it’s only been one month since you left Sebastian. In that one month, you’ve become almost as thin as that girl Jessica., whom we do not like at all.”At this, Carol burst out laughing despite herself. Her father was acting like a
It was with a growing sense of urgency that Sebastian drove away from the hospital, Jessica's insults and curses trailing after him until he could no longer hear them. It was a sad thing indeed that she was now the way she was, but there was nothing that he could do about it. He had offered to help her, but she kept turning down his help at every turn, so there was nothing he could do for her anymore. He could not do the very thing that she wanted, which was to be with her, as he did not love her anymore. He stopped by a flower shop on his way back to the house to get some flowers for Carol, knowing that women loved things like that. Hopefully, she would forgive him, and even if she did not, he would keep trying until she did. He still did not know how she managed to wind up pregnant, if she was taking her pills like she had claimed, but he knew that sometimes, those things were not foolproof, especially if the lady who was taking them fell sick during the period. He remembered that C
