Katherine paced the waiting room of the hospital, her heart pounding as she waited for news about Lillian. Her sister had gone into labor unexpectedly, and the doctors were doing everything they could to ensure a safe delivery. The memories of their escape from the burning mansion were still fresh, and now, another ordeal had begun.

She clasped her hands together, whispering a prayer under her breath. “Please, let her be okay. Let the babies be okay.”

Time seemed to stretch endlessly as she continued to pace. Finally, the door to the delivery room opened, and a doctor emerged, his expression serious but with a hint of a smile.
