Sebastian's mind raced as he watched the tense confrontation unfold between Katherine and her mother. Mrs. Alfred's tear-streaked face reflected a mix of shock and relief, while Katherine's eyes blazed with anger and accusation.

Katherine turned her attention back to Lillian, her voice dripping with contempt. "You thought you could take everything from me, didn't you?" she spat, her tone laced with bitterness. "My life, my husband... and even my own daughter's affection."
