Before Mary could ask any questions of the war general who had once earned the nickname "God of Death," Cassandra, who had lived with her husband for nearly twenty-five years, asked with widen eyes in disbelief, "You're going to keep your visit to the palace a secret, Bill?"

William gave his wife a faint smile, "You know me very well, Cassie."

Cassandra snorted, "The two of us have lived together for almost half my life, of course I can guess your train of thought."

"But ... why do you want to keep it a secret?" Cassandra asked now with her thick eyebrows raised.

"Because I only want to talk to Riley, not the people in the palace," William explained firmly.

He remained true to his principles, unwilling to dwell too much on the palace life he had left behind long ago. All he cared about was his son.
