A few years ago, the year in which the young Jody Gardner had just earned the trust of joining the main force, he was completely shocked by the unusual sight that was presented in front of his two sea-blue eyes just before he attended an official meeting with one of the ministers at the palace.

At that time, the new unit was training outside the palace due to its inadequate buildings and facilities. In his full suit, he saw the war machine crouching near the grass and bushes.

A young William Mackenzie was trying to free a cat entangled in a rope by the roadside. Afterwards, he picked up the grey stray cat.

"It's bleeding, General," Jody said with a disgusted look.

He was a soldier who had seen people killed before his eyes on the battlefield and he never minded that. But if the blood was not from the battlefield, he hated it.

The handsome and alluring general calmly replied, "He is injured."

Jody looked at the cat's paw and winced in displeasure. He looked the other way.

Steven did not understand the strange words spoken by his general, so he chose to remain silent, not wanting to make any unnecessary mistakes. "Stev, from now on you'll have to keep a closer eye on the War Advisor." "Yes, General." Jody grinned and said again, "How long will it take you to get him out of here?" "Gen-general," Steven stammered, actually knowing what Jody meant but he was just surprised. Jody turned around, "Come on, didn't you say you'd help me get him out of here, Stev?" "Uh, that problem ... I ... might take a while, General." Jody groaned in displeasure, "Why long? Is it difficult?" "General, King Keannu must be the one to expel him himself. And for that, it means we have to convince King Keannu that Bill Stewart doesn't belong here." "I know that. So?" Jody replied lazily. "Bill Stewart will have to make mistakes that will anger King Keannu so one or two won't be enough. We need more, General." Steven's explanation made Jody smile, "Oh, I see. So, you're

That morning was the start of Bill being aware of Jody Gardner's every move. At first, he just thought he was scared of him taking his position. But, this soon developed because it seemed that the man was suspicious of him and wanted to destroy him slowly. By approaching the king, who was quite close to him, he was convinced that Jody would use the king to put him in a tight spot. However, he was not someone who easily gave up or accepts defeat. He was a god of war who possessed the highest power the kingdom had ever seen. He certainly did not want to be defeated by anyone, his pride would not allow that to happen. He had been trained to face enemies with various characters. No one could destroy him and no one succeeded in deceiving him. Facing someone like his former subordinate was certainly easy enough for him. He then flashed a sincere smile as he looked at Jody Gardner. "Oh, of course, Your Honour." Bill said as he turned around and said again, "Thank you, General." Jo

"Why are you looking at her like that, Dorothy?" Jody Gardner asked as he was suddenly behind her. Dorothy turned round and faced her lover, "Just wondering. By the way, I haven't had a chance to congratulate you on your victory yet." Jody Gardner smiled even though his mind was filled with suspicion. He had clearly seen the way his lover stared in confusion at the War Advisor. "It's good to have you back here. Is everything sorted out?" Jody asked. Dorothy nodded, "Of course. But, it's getting more and more tiring by the day. Do you think I should just quit working at the palace?" "What? Quit?" "Yes. I'm so tired of doing all this routine. But, how ... life also requires money so I think I should refrain more from staying here until I have enough money," Dorothy said. Jody Gardner said, "Wait a minute. Why are you bothering to think about the economy? There's me, Dorothy." "You do. Of course, but how could I bother you all the time?" Dorothy said so honestly. "You never trou

"You ... ask too many questions, Reece!" Bill said as he seemed to no longer want to discuss the matter. Andrew Reece no longer wanted to ask questions and chose to try to forget about the matter and talk about other matters. "General, what about the war in two weeks at Mondega?" Andrew asked when he was now distracted. Bill was really happy to have such an understanding subordinate like Andrew Reece. He then tried to recall the name that his loyal subordinate had mentioned. "Mondega?" Bill repeated. "Yes, General. A kingdom located in the north, close to the border of the Cruela Kingdom." Bill was still thinking and digging into his memory. Then, as if remembering something, he said, "Uh, the kingdom that has the largest export of armaments?" "That's right, General. The Mondega Kingdom used to be one of the centres for making our weapons in the days before you became a war general here." "Why should we go to war against them? Isn't it the case that even though they no longer s

Mary, seeing the anxiety in the young madam's eyes, said, "Madam, I apologize if I seem to be interfering, but let me give you an opinion." Cassandra turned to the nun who didn't seem too much older than herself, "Yes? Tell me!" "Madam, as far as I can see Mr. Bill is not someone who seems to be working in an illicit field," Mary said. "How can you say that? Have you known my husband for a long time?" Mary replied, "Actually, I only met him the day he hired me to be your nurse." Cassandra became pessimistic about Mary's opinion which might not be objective. "But, I'm sure you wouldn't do anything against the law. This is also because Andrew Reece, your friend, is one of the most famous palace guards. You can probably look at the palace website. There, his name is there and it means that you work in the palace." Mary's information gave Cassandra some hope of finding out what kind of job her husband might have. She quickly grabbed her mobile phone and started searching the Royal

"You're right, maybe if we knew your reasons and what they wanted, we wouldn't have to go to war," Bill replied so casually. Jody immediately threw his darts and said, "Don't tell me that you're afraid to make a war strategy for us this time. Can't you actually make a strategy until you want to make peace?" Bill shook his head. It seemed like he had to be more restrained in order not to be provoked by anger when he was with Jody Gardner. "General, war is the last resort when both parties can't work together to make peace or perhaps the conflict has become too severe that the most appropriate way is by." Jody took offence to Bill's words but before he could protest, Bill had already said again, "If the conflict underlying a war is not too strong, the best way is to negotiate to make an agreement between the two sides. Then, if there is no good agreement or the two kingdoms prefer to go to war then we go to war." "Damn it. You think I don't know about that?" Jody retorted completely

"That's right, Your Honour. Once again I apologize for my rudeness but it's for our own good," Bill said, looking earnest and calm. "Good?" Keannu repeated still trying to process Bill's explanation. Bill nodded, "Yes, Your Honour. You can either have General Gardner decide everything or you can keep me and have him out." Keannu's head felt as if a bomb had exploded in his head. He really did not understand. He did not expect the election between the two people who were so important to him to have started now. He thought it would only happen in the future. In fact, it was something he had to face earlier. "Your Honour," Bill called out. Keannu sighed wearily, "General, this was not a very easy decision. You chose the position yourself and now you're making me have to choose. If this is the case, why didn't you replace Jody Gardner as War General a long time ago?" Bill replied still with his head slightly bowed in deference to the king, "Your Majesty, if someone from among the c

"War Advisor? Seizing my position? Seriously. How could there be such a thing here?" Jody replied with an awkward laugh. The man then continued his words with a rather serious look on his face. "You're not making any sense, Dorothy. Why should I be afraid of a new person like him?" Jody said who was now looking the other way, not wanting to look at Dorothy. Dorothy Winks of course laughed at that, "Me? Unreasonable? If you're really not afraid of your position being taken by him, shouldn't you be annoyed that you now have to think of a war strategy by yourself?" Jody Gardner could no longer stand his lover's offensive words. "Enough! I don't want to talk about it. He's just a bit like General Mackenzie. It doesn't matter if I hate him. I don't have to explain my reasons to you, do I?" Annoyed, Dorothy chose to leave her lover in exasperation while grumbling once on the way. James suddenly gave Gardner a lopsided smile. He knew it was not easy being Xylan Wellington's shield. But, he really did not expect that the crown prince who he thought was so smart was also so innocent. His intelligence seemed to be inversely proportional to his knowledge in terms of understanding the world around him. However, he had already decided to replace Riley in order to make up for the few years of time he had wasted so he should try to be patient. Thus, he calmly replied, "You should start thinking about the matter of all of their opinions, Your Highness.""Why should I?" Xylan retorted, who did not seem to accept James' words.James bit his lower lip, feeling the need to suppress his irritation even more. Come on, James. Don't give up so easily! James thought to himself."Because you are the future king and will soon inherit the throne of this country. So, you should start thinking about what they think of you," James replied.Xylan was about to reply, but James was fas

The indecision on Xylan Wellington's face was evident. That of course made James blink his eyes in confusion. But, within seconds, his confusion was answered. He heard Xylan say, "General Gardner, what you said is true. Everything is right. I ... might get some opposition for choosing Gary Davis as the king's advisor."He nodded. James immediately got a bad feeling that he didn't want to imagine."But, General Gardner. "Tell me, so I can do what I should, Your Royal Highness," James added.Xylan returned the war general's gaze with a look that looked very serious. The young man who had originally made one of the major decisions finally opened his mouth, "It has to do with ... the determination of the new palace officials after I take office as king."James was silent for a moment, looking a little surprised. It was only natural that Xylan Wellington had been thinking about his future reign. However, he didn't think it was the right time. His father hadn't even been buried yet. Why was he already thinking of something else? Isn't he still grieving? James thought.Xylan cleared his throat, causing James to give him a strange look. Not wanting James to think strangely about him or even misunderstand him, Xylan hurriedly explained, "General Gardner, it's not what you're thinking."James did not respond immediately and instead waited for Xylan's further explanation.Xylan himself was smart enough to q

However, before James Gardner could think further about it, Monica Wilhelm, the queen who had just lost her husband said, "Never mind, there's no need to prolong it anymore."Afterward, Monica turned her body around and faced the palace officials who were still in the palace. She sighed softly before saying, "As I wanted earlier, are you willing to let us mourn the passing of your king before we organize a funeral ceremony for him?"Without hesitation, all the palace officials unanimously replied, "Yes, Your Majesty."One by one, the palace officials left the king's residence area, leaving only the special soldiers protecting the king, queen, princess and crown prince.Meanwhile, some of James Gardner's men also remained in the area as per James' orders."General Gardner, please help," Monica said.James nodded and immediately did his duty as the kingdom's war general to prepare all the necessities used for security.

"Uh, if you're not ready to give up that important position, shouldn't you be careful when you speak, Prime Minister? Remember, what you're talking about is not appropriate," James said in a sharp tone.Anyone who heard James' threatening voice would surely be afraid. James waited but he was sure that his threat would be effective making that prime minister afraid of him.And unexpectedly, James Gardner's threat succeeded in silencing old Philip. Philip no longer dared to speak and remained silent. However, his resentful gaze could still be seen by James.Of course, you must be very upset with me, Prime Minister. However, you certainly don't want to lose your position just because of that ridiculous accusation, James thought. This made Monica Wilhelm and her two children feel a little calmer."Y-Your Majesty, I... It's just that ... the entire population of the Ans De Lou Kingdom is talking about this. Let's just say I'm just relaying what they're thinking."James laughed softly, making Philip instantly turn to him. Likewise, Monica and her two children looked surprised at the war general's reaction."W-what's so funny about what I said that you're laughing, General Gardner?" Philip said in an offended tone.James stopped his laughter and sighed softly before saying, "There's nothing funny. It's just that I find you very cowardly, Prime Minister.""Cowardly? "So, you can give us time to mourn our family members, right? You have not forgotten that Keannu Wellington was not only the king of this country, but he was the head of our family. He is my husband, the father of my two children and a grandfather to my grandson," Monica said in a flat but firm tone. The queen's words apparently succeeded in making the palace officials look at each other and finally fell silent. Some of them seemed to take a few steps back as if they really didn't want to disturb members of the royal family anymore. James Gardner himself smiled to see the palace officials, some of whom were important ministers, not moving in front of the queen. James could not help but be impressed by the queen's ability to make people obey her orders. It was because according to James it was very rare. Before he gave up his post as a deputy general of war, he had met so many queens from various kingdoms around the world. However, not many queens had authority. Monica Wellington wa

With confusion ruling his mind, he still stepped into the king's room.Once he entered the area for the first time, James could see the body of the king of Ans De Lou Kingdom lying stiffly on the luxurious bed. He could only exhale softly at the sight of the person who had been responsible for the complicated relationship between his father and Riley's father. As a result of the dead king's mistake, his relationship with Riley was strained. However, the king had apologized to him and he had forgiven all his mistakes so there was no anger or resentment in James' heart.Instead, he was saddened by the loss of Keannu Wellington.
