LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

A month had passed since Lucine's arrival, and he had fully recovered from his injuries. One evening, he appeared at the doorstep with a warm smile and a bouquet of wildflowers in hand.

"Hey, Cathryn! Hey, Rosalind!" he said, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I brought some gifts to show my appreciation for your help."

Cathryn's eyes widened as she took in the spread before her. "Lucine, you didn't have to do that!"

Rosalind's heart skipped a beat as she took in the sight of Lucine, his hair mussed and his eyes shining with warmth.

"I wanted to," Lucine said, handing Cathryn a basket filled with freshly baked bread and pastries. "You both took me in when I needed help most. I'll never forget that."

Rosalind's cheeks flushed as Lucine turned to her, a small package in his hand. "I saw this and thought of you," he said, his voice low and gentle.

She unwrapped the paper to reveal a beautiful silver necklace with a small crystal pendant. "It's beautiful," she breathed.
