DOWN MEMORY LANE

Tristan burst into Cathryn’s house, collapsed on the first chair he laid his eyes on, panting with his mouth widely open. His shirt clung to him like plaster, soaked through with perspiration. His breaths came in gasps, forcing themselves out of his nostrils. His torn shirt was dusty as if he had been on a long disastrous journey. Cathryn, who had opened the door at his knocking, stared at him in bewilderment. She got him a bottle of cold water and watched silently as he gulped it down. After some minutes, Tristan calmed down and turned towards Cathryn with quizzical eyes.

“Is it normal to change from one beast to a bigger one? I just did!” Tristan shouted, still shaken from the experience.

“How do you mean?” Cathryn asked him for clarification.

“I was fighting with somebody and already changed to a wolf. Then she pinned me down and wanted to arrest me as a rogue wolf, as I increased my strength to push her away from me, I suddenly changed into a bigger wolf, destructive even.” He pa
