A MOTHER'S REDEMPTION 

Tristan's eyes widened as he took in Laura's frail appearance. Her skin was pale, her eyes sunken, and her hair disheveled. He could see the dark circles under her eyes, and her lips were dry and cracked.

"Mom, you look like you've been through a war," Tristan said, his voice laced with concern. "When was the last time you ate something? Or slept?"

Laura tried to speak, but her voice was barely a whisper. Tristan quickly grabbed the glass of water from the bedside table and helped her take a sip.

"Try to sit up, Mom," Tristan said, gently propping up pillows behind her. "I'll make you some tea, or something. You need to get your strength back."

Laura nodded weakly, her eyes welling up with tears. Tristan quickly wiped them away with a tissue, his touch gentle.

"Don't cry, Mom," Tristan said his voice soft. "I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. We'll get through this together, okay?"
