"You're awake?" Anastasia asked.
Maximilian froze, staring at the unfamiliar woman before him. Her smile was unlike anything he'd ever seen - soothing, almost serene.
"Can you hear me?" A small voice came from beside him.
He turned his head to see the woman standing nearby, relief washing over her face as she realised he was awake. She stepped closer, and before Maximilian could say a word, he felt her gentle hand press against his forehead, taking his temperature. The touch startled him. His body tensed, but not with pain.
Before he could process what was happening, she withdrew her hand and placed the back of it against his cheek. "You look a little pale. Is anything hurting?" she asked, her tone soft but full of concern.
Maximilian was stunned. His instinct should have been to pull away or push her hand away, but there was no allergic reaction or discomfort like he usually felt when women touched him. His skin didn't feel hot or itchy. It was as if her touch was completely harmless. He didn't even feel annoyed, despite the unwarranted contact.
"What is...?" Maximilian murmured, trying to make sense of the situation. Why didn't he react? He stared at her, his eyes filled with confusion.
The woman frowned slightly and raised her hand again, as if to check his forehead again. This time, before her hand could reach him, Maximilian reflexively grabbed her wrist, stopping her in her tracks. The touch made him gasp for breath for a moment.
"I'm fine," Maximilian said quickly, his voice firmer than he'd intended. "Did you help me? Who are you?"
The woman nodded slightly, her expression remaining friendly, though there was a flicker of surprise in her eyes. "My name is Anastasia Noire. I found you badly injured and brought you to my home. You need to rest."
Maximilian released her wrist, allowing her to pull back. There was something strange about this, he thought. He had always had problems with physical contact from women. A mysterious, medically inexplicable allergy made direct touch unbearable. But with Anastasia there was no reaction. Her touch had no adverse effect on his body - just a faint, unfamiliar warmth.
"What happened to me?" he murmured, more to himself than to her. His eyes remained fixed on her, searching her expression for answers.
Anastasia hesitated for a moment before answering. "I don't know exactly. You were lying near my car, injured. How is your body? Are you still in pain? You were badly bruised and those thugs chased my car until they damaged it."
Maximilian frowned, still trying to piece things together. "And you managed to get away from them?"
Anastasia chuckled slightly. "Yes. They couldn't keep up with me. Impressive, isn't it?" she said confidently.
Maximilian studied her intently, searching for truth in her gaze. There was no sign of deception, only genuine concern. He exhaled deeply, trying to calm his chaotic thoughts. Maybe this was just a coincidence. Maybe his body had become accustomed to the pain and wasn't reacting as it usually did.
But deep down, Maximilian knew that this was more than a coincidence. There was something different about Anastasia. This woman, with her unassuming manner and caring nature, had somehow breached the walls he had so carefully guarded. It frightened him - yet intrigued him.
"I don't remember much from last night," Maximilian said, pretending to distract himself from his troubling thoughts.
"But your body must be strong to withstand such injuries," Anastasia replied. "Should I call a doctor? Or contact your family?"
Maximilian shook his head. "Can I borrow your phone?"
“Oh, of course!” Anastasia replied, getting up to fetch a phone from her room. She returned shortly and handed it to him. “Here, use this. It’s an extra phone of mine, but the number is still active. By the way, I’m going to have to leave soon for some work. Just stay here and rest, okay? I won’t be gone long.”
Maximilian nodded impassively. He rose from his chair and found a quiet corner to call Bryan, his assistant.

Anastasia sat in the waiting room of the recording studio, swinging her legs nervously. Her normally steady hands clutched a small bag tightly in her lap. Anxiety and frustration swirled inside her. She had been waiting for over half an hour to meet Rafael Draven, the producer who had once championed her and catapulted her music career to stardom. But this time Rafael’s tone on the phone had been anything but enthusiastic.
The studio door finally opened and an assistant stepped inside. “Mr Draven is ready for you, Miss Noire.”
Anastasia nodded curtly and stood up. Her heart pounded as she entered the familiar room, although the atmosphere was very different.
Rafael stood near a large table laden with recording equipment, his arms crossed. His usually warm face was now serious, almost cold.
“Anastasia, sit down,” he said without smiling, gesturing to the chair opposite him.
She obeyed, sitting up straight and fixing him with a questioning look. “What’s going on, Rafael? Why did you call me here? Aren’t we in the middle of recording my second album? I was so excited – every song on this album is my creation.”
Rafael took a deep breath as if searching for the right words. “That’s what I wanted to talk to you about, Anastasia.”
Her heartbeat quickened. “What do you mean?”
He met her eyes, his gaze sharp and penetrating. “I have decided not to proceed with the second album. I’m also terminating your contract with the label.”
The words hit Anastasia like a sledgehammer. She froze. "What?" she said, her voice shaking. "You... you're cancelling the album? And terminate my contract? Why? Did I do something wrong? You said my contract was for life!"
Rafael didn't answer immediately. He walked to the large window and looked out with a tense expression on his face. "It's not about you doing something wrong," he finally said, his tone low. "It's about the future. The industry is evolving rapidly and I have to make decisions that benefit the label and my career."
Anastasia furrowed her brow, her confusion and anger growing. "What are you talking about? I'm the biggest selling artist on this label! My last album sold millions. You always told me I had immense potential, that I was the future of this industry!"
Rafael turned to her, his expression unreadable. "That was then. Now I have a new artist - someone I'm confident will outshine you."
Anger bubbled inside Anastasia. She stood abruptly, her gaze fiery. "A new artist? Who is this person you think can replace me?"
The door opened at that moment. Anastasia spun around and what she saw made her blood run cold.
Elora Viviana entered, her arm linked to Leon Hale's. She wore a triumphant smile, her wavy hair cascading around her like a halo. Her eyes sparkled with arrogance as she met Anastasia's.
"I am the artist," Elora said sweetly, her voice dripping with false charm. "I'm the one taking your place, Anastasia."
Anastasia felt her world crumble. "Elora...?" she stammered. "Leon? What are you doing here?"
Leon smiled, satisfaction gleaming in his eyes. "Welcome to reality, darling. Only the strongest survive in this world. Elora has everything it takes to be a star, and I'm here to make sure she gets everything she wants."
Anger and heartbreak collided within Anastasia. "How could you do this to me? I trusted you, Leon!"
Elora laughed softly, her voice mocking. "Oh, Anastasia, you are so naive. The world doesn't revolve around you. You were just a stepping stone for Leon's rise to power in this industry."
Rafael stood silently, watching the confrontation with an impassive face. Anastasia turned to him, hoping for an ounce of sympathy from the man who had once believed in her. But his expression remained cold, as if he had made up his mind long ago.
"I never thought you'd be so cruel, Rafael," Anastasia said, her voice trembling with suppressed anger. "I thought we were a team."
Rafael shrugged. "This isn't about cruelty, Anastasia. It's about business."
Anastasia gave him a withering look before turning back to Elora and Leon. "You won't last long playing dirty like this," she said, her voice firm and determined. "Karma has a way of catching up with you. And when it does, I'll be there to see you fall."
Elora's smile didn't falter. "We are not afraid of karma, Anastasia. We have everything we need to win. And you? You're yesterday's news."
Her heart shattered, Anastasia raised her chin, refusing to show weakness. "Take what you want now, but remember this: I'll be back. And when I do, you'll regret ever underestimating me."
She walked out with grace, her spirit bruised but unbroken. "I'll make you pay."

***"What? All the commercial deals are cancelled and I have to pay compensation? What's the reason?" Anastasia asked in shock.Lyra sighed heavily. "I don't know the exact reason either. They said you broke the rules and got involved in a big scandal.""A scandal? What? You know as well as I do that I've never been involved in anything like that in my entire career!"Lyra remained silent, biting her lip. It was hard for her to reveal the nature of the scandal that had derailed Anastasia's career. What should have been a major project for Anastasia had suddenly fallen through. Clients who had been eager to work with her disappeared without explanation, and demands for compensation came out of nowhere. It was a strange and deeply suspicious situation."Lyra, I'm talking to you. Look at me!" Anastasia's voice was sharp and direct.Lyra looked up, her eyes flashing with panic before she quickly composed herself. "What is it?""Something's wrong. Deals are being cancelled and now I have t
***"Oh my God! You... have you eaten?" Anastasia asked, staring at the stranger for a moment. Without waiting for an answer, she hurried to the kitchen.Maximilian was stunned by her panicked reaction. Did he look so pale as to alarm her? After all, he had eaten earlier and even stepped out with Bryan for a moment.Moments later, Anastasia returned and placed an omelette and a glass of orange juice on the table."Here, eat! I'm sorry I wasn't here all day. There were some things I had to take care of," Anastasia said with a smile that carried a hint of exhaustion.Maximilian wasn't hungry, but he didn't want to arouse her suspicions. He sat down and began to eat the food she had prepared."Have you contacted your family?" Anastasia asked.Maximilian shook his head."Why not? Won't they come and get you?" she asked, clearly surprised."I don't have a family," Maximilian replied, his tone cold.Anastasia froze for a moment before giving him a gentle smile. "Were those thugs from yester
***Anastasia was very worried, it was getting late. But none of her friends helped her, even all her calls were rejected by them. Anastasia was frustrated because she had promised to give a letter when she and Max got married."Why don't you sleep at night? You haven't even eaten," Maximilan said. Actually, he already knew what she wanted and he also knew Anastasia's problem that was currently a hot topic in the country, but he secretly didn't know because he wanted to know what Anastasia would do.Anastasia sighed, she was frustrated and looked at him."Max, we have to get married!""Get married? You want to marry me?"Anastasia nodded, "Yes. I've already told them we're married. How about we get married for a while? At least two years, for example, and then we can part on good terms?"Maximilian found what Anastasia said funny, she was offering a contract marriage?"Hmm... what's in it for me to be your husband?""You don't have a family, do you? And a place to live?" Anastasia ask
***He helped me because I saved his life, he just wanted to return the favor," Maximilian said."I forgot you were a thug," Anastasia said. She looked at the man's bruised face, "I'll get the doctor and introduce you to him. He's my best friend, but I don't want our marriage contract to be known. Do you understand?""Yes. Just do what you want," Maximilian replied."And even though we are legally husband and wife, there are limits to everything, Max. We are married by agreement and I expect no physical contact during our marriage. You must understand what I mean, right?""You don't want us to have physical contact because I'm just a poor man?" asked Maximilian deliberately.Anastasia shook her head, "No man touches me carelessly, Max. Including my ex-boyfriend, I never slept with him, even though he always tried to persuade me to give him up. I also turned down all offers of romantic movies or dramas because I don't feel comfortable being intimate with someone who isn't in my heart.
***Anastasia stood behind a thick curtain and surveyed the row of seats filled with reporters in front of her. The cameras' flashes flickered, as if to highlight every second that passed before she stepped forward. Today she was going to reveal something that had been a hot topic for a long time, that she shared a roof with a strange man and that there had been a lot of bad news about her lately.Lyra patted her shoulder gently. "It's time, Anastasia."Anastasia nodded and took a deep breath before exhaling slowly. "Alright, let's do this."Her steps were steady as she walked forward to the podium that had been set up in the center of the stage. The spotlight was immediately on her, and the thunderous sound of reporters' whispers echoed through the room. With her head held high, Anastasia stood before them, her eyes sharp and confident. After making sure everyone was paying attention to her, Anastasia began, "Thank you for being here today. There is something I want to share with you
"Honey, did you see Anastasia's press conference?" asked Elora.Leon shook his head, "I didn't because I was filming all day yesterday, but all the crew and staff talked about it and said that Anastasia did it alone, without her husband."Elora laughed softly and her heart felt satisfied. "And you know, dear. If the reporters didn't believe her and thought her press conference was just an attempt to gain public sympathy, but in fact everyone thinks she's a woman playing the victim and her career can't be saved.""She deserves it, the bad karma is already on her," Leon retorted.Elora laughed and hugged Leon, "Finally the plan of five years ago can be realized. We can reach the pinnacle of our careers. Everyone is supporting us!""Yes, I didn't expect my popularity to rise so much and my salary to increase many times over. If I hadn't followed your advice back then, I might have been just an extra actor. You're really smart, dear Elora," Leon said proudly."Because Anastasia doesn't de
***"Let go!"Leon just smiled triumphantly, looking down and up at Anastasia."Leon," Anastasia said coldly, looking at the man without showing the slightest emotion. "Let go of my hand."But Leon did not obey her order immediately. Instead, he tightened his grip, as if to savor the feeling of possessing Anastasia, if only for a moment. His gaze slid from her face to the rest of her body, and he swallowed, as if holding himself back."Anastasia," he said softly, but there was a mocking tone in his voice. "I can't help but notice how beautiful you are today. You're always charming."Anastasia just stared at him with a cold, piercing stare, without the slightest hint of a smile. "Let go of my hand, Leon," she repeated in a firmer tone.Leon paused for a moment, then chuckled before moving his face close to Anastasia's ear so she could feel his warm breath on her skin. "I can save your career, Anastasia. Rafael may have left you, but I have the power to change everything. You just have
***“Max, have you eaten?" Anastasia asked with a bland smile. The problems he was facing made it impossible for him to concentrate, especially since all the songs he had created from his heart were suddenly gone. Whose heart isn't broken?"I had dinner with my friend earlier," Maximilan replied. "Did you eat?""Hmm... I even skipped breakfast. I have a lot to do today," Anastasia replied. She lay down on the sofa and soon closed her eyes.Maximilian was stunned, he looked at Anastasia and smiled at her as she slept carelessly."Are you always like this? You even trust people so much that they betray you so easily, Anastasia," Maximilian muttered.Maximilian sat on a chair in the corner of the room and looked at Anastasia who was fast asleep on the sofa. Her face, usually full of strength and energy, now looked calm, almost innocent. Her eyes were closed tightly and her soft breathing made her small chest rise and fall in a soothing rhythm. The sight made Maximilian smile. There was s
***Anastasia stood at the entrance of Athena Records, a grand and classical building nestled in the bustling heart of the city. Her heart raced. This was a defining moment for her. Today she would meet Christian Idzes, the renowned music producer known for being extremely selective about the artists he worked with.Next to her, Lyra smiled encouragingly and gently squeezed Anastasia's shoulder. "You're going to do great, Anastasia. You have incredible talent and I'm sure Christian will see that."Anastasia managed a small smile, though the nerves still clung to her. "Thank you, Lyra. I just hope what I've prepared is enough to impress him."They entered the elegant building, passing through a lobby decorated with posters of albums produced by Athena Records. The weight of names like Christian Idzes was palpable here, dominating nearly every corner of the room. The pressure on Anastasia's shoulders grew. After passing through several layers of security, they finally arrived at Christi
***Maximilian stopped in front of Anastasia's apartment door. The sound of the door closing softly behind them, but the silence of the night seemed to heighten the intensity of this farewell."I'll sleep at the restaurant tonight," Maximilian said, his voice low but firm. "I probably won't be home for two days."Anastasia, who was opening the door to her apartment, turned her head quickly. Concern immediately appeared in her eyes. "Is there a problem, Max?" she asked with a worried look on her face.Maximilian just shook his head slowly. "There's nothing to worry about. The restaurant will be busy tomorrow, so we all have to work hard. We have a very important guest."Anastasia nodded, although she still looked a little worried. She knew that Maximilian was a very responsible man, but two days without coming home sounded exhausting to her. "All right," she replied slowly, "don't forget to eat."Maximilian smiled slightly. "Of course. If anything happens, you know who to call."Anasta
***Jonathan sighed because Bryan had called him tonight and his young master's request was very strange: He wanted him to be an employee and he was the boss. He felt insolent that Mrs. Selene would find out that her son was a restaurant employee."Jo, why do you look so confused?" asked Steven, her brother."Bryan called me earlier," Jonathan replied."What's going on, is Aunt Selene going to book another restaurant? Wouldn't you like Aunt Selene to come over?""Not that. It's Maximilian," Jonathan replied."What's wrong with him? Are you making him angry?" Steven asked."No, no. He asked me to put on a play tomorrow morning, he's going to pretend to be an employee of the restaurant and do you know what it's about?"Steven shook his head."It's about a woman. I was surprised that he could finally be interested in a woman," Jonathan chuckled.Steven was silent, also surprised that Maximilian was willing to pretend to be an ordinary employee for a woman."After ten years he came back t
***"The star is very beautiful tonight, yes. But it's lonely," Anastasia whispered, then she looked at Maximilian, who was also staring at the night sky, "you're not lonely? You live alone on the streets, do you ever think the world is cruel to you?"Maximilian smiled, "I never think the world is cruel, we should control the world, not the world controlling us. I always want to be the best and everything has to be perfect." He paused for a moment, then continued, "I just hated myself for being too focused on my perfection without seeing that the person I loved needed me, I ignored her and thought she was fine because she was always smiling.""This is the sister you told me about?" asked Anastasia.Maximilian nodded. "Yes, my only brother, and my lifelong regret is that I ignored him until he left because he kept his wounds to himself. If I could turn back time, I would go back to the day my sister left. I regret it, but that regret will never bring her back to us."Anastasia looked a
***At the Kingsley family's main residence..."Why did Maximilian suddenly cancel the family dinner? This is very unusual; he's never broken a promise before," Selene murmured.Selene sat gracefully on the elegant sofa in the living room, her delicate hands holding a cup of tea. Her thoughts were confused. Tonight was supposed to be important. Maximilian, her son, had promised to attend the family dinner. More than that, her long-absent husband was finally coming home. Tonight was supposed to be a moment of reunion - a complete family gathering. But out of nowhere, Maximilian canceled his plans without giving a clear reason.Selene let out a short sigh and looked at her reflection in the teacup. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. Maximilian wasn't the type to cancel appointments lightly, especially when it involved his father. The living room door slowly opened and Bryan, the ever-reliable Noire family assistant, entered with his usual calm demeanor. His face,
***Anastasia awoke with a rare sense of comfort. Her sleep last night had been deep and peaceful, as if all the nightmares that usually haunted her had vanished. She stretched lightly on her bed, pulling the covers up to her shoulders. As she started to get up, her gaze suddenly landed on the figure next to her. She froze for a moment and held her breath. Maximilian. He was lying next to her, sleeping peacefully, as if he were part of her softest dream. Immediately, the memories of the previous night flooded back into her mind. Anastasia remembered herself trembling with fear, crying in Maximilian's arms. And even more, she remembered begging him not to leave, to stay by her side."Foolish Anastasia," she murmured, lightly tapping her own forehead. She shook her head, slightly embarrassed as she remembered how vulnerable she had been in front of Maximilian. But despite her embarrassment, a warmth spread through her chest as she looked at his face so close to hers. Maximilian's face,
***Maximilian sat on the edge of the bed and looked at Anastasia, who was fast asleep. Her face looked pale, even in the sleep that should have given her peace, the woman's eyebrows remained furrowed, as if carrying a burden too heavy for her alone.Unconsciously, Maximilian's hand moved to caress Anastasia's cheek. Her skin felt cold, and there were dark circles under her eyes that clearly showed how tired she was. He knew that Anastasia had many wounds - not only physical ones, but deeper ones as well."Why are we meeting now? If we had met before, I would have taken good care of you." Maximilian murmured softly, his fingers still caressing Anastasia's cheek. There was a sharp pain in his heart when he saw that she was not well. He could not bear to see Anastasia hurt like this, hurt by people who should not touch her life.Gently, Maximilian moved his face closer and kissed Anastasia's forehead. A wordless promise was spoken in his heart. "I will avenge them, Anastasia," he whispe
***"Envious of you?" asked Anastasia with a mocking smile, "aren't you the one who is always jealous and envious of me? I'm perfect, aren't I? I'm beautiful, I'm talented, and I'm even able to get it on with a great actor like Leon Hale. You think I'm jealous just because everything you have is stolen?"Without further ado, Elora approached and looked Anastasia up and down with a condescending look. "Watch your language, Anastasia!" she snapped, then continued. "Ah, finally the bastard said something funny," she said coldly.Anastasia frowned, feeling angry but trying to control herself. "What do you mean, Elora?" she asked in a stern tone.Elora laughed sarcastically, then suddenly slapped Anastasia hard on the cheek. The sound of the slap echoed throughout the room, making everyone jump and stop what they were doing."Don't pretend you don't know!" Elora shouted in a sharp voice. "You're nothing but a bastard. You were born to a bitch. Your mother was nothing but a whore with no se
***That morning, the sun had not yet fully risen when Anastasia's cell phone rang loudly. The sound of the phone was so loud in the still dark room. With her eyes half closed, Anastasia reached out from under her thick blanket and grabbed the phone from the nightstand.Lyra's name appeared on the screen, and without thinking, Anastasia answered the call in a still hoarse voice. "Lyra... so early in the morning, why?" she asked, trying to open her eyes fully."Anastasia, you need to hear this. Right now," Lyra's voice sounded urgent, full of fear. "Elora's new album... you have to listen to all the songs. Something's wrong."Anastasia frowned, trying to make sense of Lyra's words. She sat on the bed, her eyes still blurry from sleep. "What do you mean, what does this have to do with me?"Lyra took a deep breath, as if to calm herself. "Look, I just listened to their new album, and... it feels like those songs are yours. They sound very much like your work. Especially the title track,
