~ Rayel’s POV

After barking out orders to Boris, I took a deep breath to steady myself. I had instructed him to gather all the soldiers at the training ground and call an emergency meeting with the council members. The weight of the situation pressed down on me. Boris acknowledged my commands with a sharp nod and hurried out of the room. The silence that followed felt heavy with anticipation.

A wave of nausea washed over me as I slumped back in my chair. The dull ache in my stomach intensified, a reminder of my declining health. Initially, Dolph wasn’t a match for me even though he was also a powerful Alpha but I was so concerned about my health.

Concern gnawed at me, a nagging voice urging me to prioritize your health. Ignoring the protests of my body wasn't an option, not with war on the horizon. I reached for the vial of medication again, downing a few more pills, I closed my eyes, desperately hoping for some rest to clear my head and steady my body.

We need our soldiers sharper than ever before."He acknowledged my order with a sharp nod and relayed it to the soldiers. The training ground erupted with renewed activity, the soldiers pushing themselves harder, their movements becoming more precise, their attacks more coordinated.Next, I turned your attention to weaponry. "Open the armory," I commanded another soldier. "We need all available firearms and ammunition brought out and distributed."The clank of metal echoed through the training ground as soldiers scurried to obey. The sight of weapons being distributed, the weight of them settling into soldiers' hands, served as a reminder of the seriousness of the situation. Finally, I unfurled a large map before my soldiers, its surface depicting the territory surrounding Dolph's pack. With a pointer in hand, I began outlining my attack strategy again."Here," I declared, tapping a specific lo

~ Daciana’s POVA frown creased Hazel's brow. "How dare you question me?" she snapped, her voice sharp.Taken aback by her sudden defensiveness, I flinched slightly. However, the suspicion that had been brewing since I saw her secretive behavior the night before wouldn't be easily dismissed. This was too good of an opportunity to pass up, a chance to gain some leverage."I just saw you…" I started, placing the basket of snacks I was carrying onto the table with a soft thud. "How dare you?" she said again, but this time her voice was cold and dangerous. There was a definite chill in the air."Oh," she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm, "that means my guards aren't doing their jobs properly, does it?" Her glare could have curdled milk.My stomach lurched. Big mistake, confronting her like this. I could

The day of the war finally dawned, thick and heavy with tension. I rallied my pack, my voice ringing out with a primal determination that echoed in their hearts as we marched towards Dolph's territory. ~ Rayel’s POVI was bursting with joy when I heard about Hazel's pregnancy. I practically bubbled all night at the party. I couldn’t hide my happiness and then I pulled her into the room. I grabbed Hazel for a quick chat. Her face practically glowed, and that just made my happiness overflow. I kept sneaking glances at her belly, still in disbelief that a tiny miracle was growing inside her. Leaning in, I wanted to feel some kind of connection with this little bean. But I was unable to feel anything. Not a flutter, not a nudge. Maybe, I thought, it's just way too early. After all, the pregnancy is probably just a speck of a thing at that moment.Gazing at her for a moment, my love overflowing, I leaned down and planted a soft kiss on her forehead. "Hazel," I murmured, "you have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you for making me a father." Her voice wobbled slightly, a hint of tears glistening in her eyes. ~ Elara’s POV Rufus and I were swamped with work, running around to meet his rich clients. Thankfully, they were all really pleasant to deal with, a breath of fresh air compared to Ashley. And speaking of Ashley, I was glad she hadn't caused any more trouble for either of us. What surprised me most, though, was listening to these wealthy clients. Despite all their money, they all seemed to have their own problems. Some struggled with family issues or personal challenges. It made me realize that money doesn't solve everything. Everyone has their own battles to fight, rich or poor.Rufus turned out to be an amazing teacher. He patiently showed me how to make all sorts of natural remedies. He even taught me some first aid basics, like CPR and how to bandage a wound. It was incredibly helpful stuff to know. The most incredible thing, though, was how his feelings for me never wavered, even though I didn't feel the same way romantically. He was a true friend, always there for me. As my

~ Elara’s POVTears streamed down my face as I clung to Rufus. I just kept saying thank you over and over again, my voice thick with emotion. The fear of losing my baby had been so strong, and now that Rufus' actions had somehow prevented it, the relief washed over me in a wave. Even though Rufus gently pulled back, I held onto him as if my dear life depended on him. The terror of almost losing my baby was still raw, and letting go felt like stepping off a cliff. Tears welled up again. I sniffled, "But Rufus, what you did..." My voice cracked. "I was so scared. I thought..." I couldn't even say the words out loud. Rufus must have seen the fear etched on my face because his smile softened further. "Hey," he said, his voice calm and reassuring. "It's alright to be scared. But you're strong, Elara. You're going to be okay, and so is the baby." He brushed a stray tear off my cheek with his thumb. He helped me lie down on the bed, tucking the covers gently around me. "You need to rest

~ Elara’s POVWas I being too demanding? Taking advantage of his good nature? I thought to myself while I was in Rufus’s back. But then I looked up at Rufus' face. His expression was pure joy, his eyes sparkling with mischief. He wasn't straining, he wasn't annoyed. He just seemed genuinely happy to be taking care of me. Maybe, I thought, letting myself relax completely against him, that was part of love too. Accepting that someone wants to take care of you, even when it feels a little strange. So I snuggled in a bit closer, a contented sigh escaping my lips, and enjoyed the ride.We finally reached home, laden with bags from our shopping trip. As I started unloading groceries, Rufus stopped me with a gentle hand. "Wait a sec," he said, a mischievous glint in his eye. He reached for another bag, the one he had mysteriously appeared with earlier. My heart thumped with a mix of excitement and curiosity. What could possibly be in that bag? He carefully handed it to me, and as I peeke

~ Rayel’s POV"What?!" The scream ripped from my throat, a guttural roar of fury. Ignoring the guards and the stunned look on Hazel's face, I lunged at Dolph. He may have been chained, but that wouldn't stop me. My fist connected with his jaw again, a satisfying blow that carried the weight of my wrath."How dare you!" My voice was a low growl, laced with a dangerous edge. "They're not pawns in your twisted games! You lay a single finger on them, and you'll regret the day you were born!""Rayel!" Hazel cried, her voice thick with hurt and betrayal. Clearly, the sight of me attacking her lover had shaken her.But before I could even process her reaction, she did something that sent a fresh wave of shock through me. I would find Elara and my son, no matter what it took.Just then, the door creaked open. It was Boris. Relief washed over me, maybe he had news about the retrieval team."Your Majesty," he announced, his voice a welcome sound in the tense silence. "I've done as you ordered. The guards are heading towards Alpha Dolph’s pack as we speak."I nodded curtly, a flicker of appreciation for his swiftness. ~ Rayel’s POVMy heart shattered into a million pieces. Years of love, devotion, poured down the drain. The woman I thought I knew, the woman I had built a future with was a stranger. The truth, a bitter pill coated in sugar, sat heavy in my gut."You... love someone else and have never loved me?" My voice barely rose above a whisper, the words scraping against my raw throat.Hazel scoffed, a sound that sent shivers down my spine. "Loved? Please, Rayel. It was never love. It was convenient. A way to pass the time." The coldness in her voice sent a fresh wave of nausea crashing over me."And now you want out?" I managed, the question laced with a desperate hope that maybe, just maybe, this was all a twisted joke.Hazel's smile returned, but this time it was devoid of warmth, a predatory glint flashing in her eyes. "Exactly. And wouldn't it be a grand gesture of your love to let me go quietly? A final act of selflessness before I return to the arms of someone who actually deserves me."

~ Rayel’s POV I was speechless, staring at Hazel. She wasn't making things easier. Hazel got up and walked closer to me, clearly frustrated."You're being such a jerk, Rayel! Why are you acting so mad? I told you I was pregnant, and you believed it even though you knew I can't have kids. Why are you getting mad at me now?” Hazel demanded, her voice laced with anger.Frustration bubbled over. "Seriously, Hazel? You can't even apologize?" I exclaimed.Hazel scoffed. "Why would I? I bent over backwards for you, remember? You should be thanking me, not throwing a tantrum."Her lack of regret made my blood boil. "That's unbelievable, Hazel! You don't get to play innocent here. Taking responsibility is grown-up stuff, and you're failing miserably! I hate it when people don’t take responsibility for their actions!” I said. The air hung heavy with accusation after Hazel's scoff. "Take responsibility for my actions!" she spat, her words dripping with misplaced blame. I managed a smile, thin

~ Rayel’s POVMy jaw clenched as I spotted the woman. She was heavily pregnant, her face pale with exhaustion. As soon as she saw me, her eyes widened and she immediately dropped to her knees."Who are you?!" I demanded, my voice firm but not angry. Her voice trembled as she stammered, "Y-Your Majesty... I'm..." Sweat beaded on her forehead despite the cool air.She took a shaky breath, finally calming down a bit. "My name is Ares," she revealed in a small voice."Ares," I repeated, trying to place the name. It didn't ring a bell. My gaze swept across the room again, taking in the changes. Gone was the bare and dusty space I remembered. Now, comfortable furniture filled the space, along with a surprising amount of good food stocked in a nearby cupboard. My eyebrows furrowed. "And why are you here, Ares?!”My tone was accusatory and it was clear I wanted answers.“Ares! Who exactly are you and what are you doing here?!” I asked again.“Luna Hazel… can explain… that,” she stammered.“Wh

~ Rayel’s POV A memory surfaced. My father had once mentioned a room that belonged to his grandfather. They hadn't gotten along, and after my grandfather's passing, my father had ordered the room sealed and untouched. This, I realized, was the very same room. The room's pristine condition was a stark contrast to the dust and neglect I had expected. Curiosity gnawed at me. I crept closer, reaching out to push on the doorknob. It wouldn't budge, it was locked. But from the inside!Confused, I rapped on the door. "Hello? Is anyone there?"A woman's voice, laced with surprise, echoed back. "Who is it? Are you Luna Hazel?"I heard her footsteps approaching the door, but it remained firmly shut. When I didn't answer, the footsteps stopped.Something wasn't right. I pushed against the door with all my strength. It creaked open a sliver, revealing a glimpse of a cluttered room and... a woman. The sight that greeted me was a shock. A heavily pregnant woman stood there, her eyes wide with alar
