Seer

Camille and Matt arrived on the crest of the hill overlooking the north city.

" Welcome to the north city Lady Camille ! What do you think ?"

Camille whose attention wasn't with Matt but on what awaits her at the north city, looking down at the city from the hill, she was amazed with what she saw. Outside the city gates were vast lands ,with farmers cultivating on it happily , the grains on the fields danced with the wind. People going into the north city queued up at the city gates to be inspected by the guards stationed at the gates.

" I don't know yet Matt , let's find out if your city is what you claimed it is".

Camille slapped her horse with her legs against the side of his horse Matt did the same and then broke into a gallop going down the hill towards the plains leading to the north city.

"Matt" , Camille said, " over there"

Matt looked up to the front , slowing down his horse a bit so he could look to the other side ,in the direction pointed out by Camille. He saw two women standing beside a carriage double crossed by three men with their horses.

"Bandits or thieves, do you think ? "

" No, I don't think so," Matt said. "Not from the way they are riding."

They were still about half a mile away , turned toward the carriage, approaching it at a leisurely gait.

. Susan Gowe,and her hand maiden Mardy, was riding towards the north city after getting a distress message from the singing owl, when they were apprehended by the messengers of the night possibly to halt their mission.

Sarge, the leader of the three slain their driver and coachmen, pointed his bloody sword towards Susan,but the latter wasn't afraid of him.

" My lady, it's almost dawn, I fear we will arrive late," Mardy whispered to Susan .

" I know Mardy, but something seems off about this three , they are ordinary messengers yet I feel dark magic emitting from them"

" My lady, are you trying to say that they were sent by—"

" You know who , Mardy, only she can cast a dark spell this powerful, She must have read the stars, the white sorceress awakening is at hand so she sent her minions to intercept us".

"And my magic isn't working on them"

She broke it to Mardy,who now has the look of horror visible on her face.

" I'm afraid we have to use combat Mardy, it's nothing we can't handle."

" But,my Lady, it's three against two and none of us can wield a sword not that we have any"

" Enough of the whisperings Seer!Your journey ends here–" he was interrupted when a dagger flew past him and drove into the heart of one of them who turned into dust after coming in contact with the silver dagger.

Matt, who was aiming for their leader, was surprised when one of them disappeared with the whirlwind after turning into dust.

" Tsk, Soulless" Susan said

The remaining two messengers charged towards Matt , who dodged the attack that was launched on him, drove his sword in the heart of the other following the procedure he dealt with the other one and drove it deeper into his heart for the latter to turn into dust remaining the leader .

Seeing the outcome of events the leader made to strike Matt at his back with his sword but was surprised when a sword passed through his heart and he disappeared also.

Camille saw what the leader of the men was up to, picked up the sword lying beside the dead coachman, and pierced the heart of the leader who in turn disappeared also .

" Now, what was that thing that I just killed ?"

Camille asked the two ladies whose eyes were fixed on them all along .

" Am as confused as you are my Lady " answered Matt with a look of surprise on his face.

Susan, who was surprised after seeing Camille, approached her with her handmaiden trailing behind her.

" Thank you very much for coming to our rescue, we can't thank you enough " Susan explained her gratitude and placed her hand on Camille's hands.

Susan retracted her hands almost immediately, and took a step back to look into Camille's eyes
