Sebastian's POV

I wake up to my mother yelling it's time for school and I groan in annoyance. Normally I would just skip but there is a new girl in town who starts at our school today. People from my pack that met her yesterday says she smells weird, like she's not human but they don't know what she is. That's why I have to go.

I dress in a pair of dark blue jeans and a black t-shirt that stretches across my chest and shoulders almost to the point of ripping apart. Well, it's been a while since I bought new clothes so I guess I need to add that to my list as well. Alpha training sure is brutal, making me gain muscle in an almost absurd rate. At this point I wonder if it's even worth wearing a shirt to begin with?

With a sigh I put on some black sneakers and my leather jacket before I make my way to the kitchen downstairs where my two younger twin brothers are already sitting by the table eating pancakes. Quite messily, might I add.

"Big brother!" They yell when they spot me before they both jump up into my arms.

"Hey there, buddies. Did you sleep well?" I ask them.

They both nod their heads and I put them down and I give my mother a kiss on her cheek before grabbing a plate with pancakes for myself. While I eat I can't help but notice my wolf Lucas nervously pacing back and forth in my head.

"What's up?" I ask him in my mind.

"I don't know. I just have this feeling..." He says.

"What feeling?" I ask.

He just shakes his head and goes back to pacing which, by the way, makes me nervous as hell. Last time he was this restless we were attacked by a large number of rouges. That's why before I leave I mind-link my father to tell him to put a few extra guards at the border patrols today, just in case.

Then I get in my black Dodge Ram 1500 with silver detailing that my father gave me when I turned 18 a few moths ago. It takes a little less than 10 minutes to drive to school since the pack house is located outside of the town. When I park my car and get out I'm immediately surrounded by sluts whom is only after the title of Luna. But as I make my way inside to meet up with my soon-to-be Beta Ty for class I smell the most intoxicating scent. It smells like tropical fruits, jasmin and saltwater? Oh well. I keep following the scent until the bell rings and I have to get to class.

Every class I keep talking to Tyler but I can't let go of this restless feeling and every the classes feels like they last a thousand years. Once it's lunch I walk with Tyler towards the cafeteria where we meet up with my soon-to-be Gamma Jackson and his mate Hailie. Tyler said his mate Kayla mind-linked him a while ago and told him she will be bringing the new girl with her for lunch and that they will catch up to us. Finally I can meet her so I can try to figure out her deal. I haven't even seen a glimpse of her all day so far which is kind of weird. While we wait we get our food and sit at our usual table. After a while I smell the same scent from this morning and I desperately look around the big cafeteria trying to find out where it comes from.

A few minutes later I notice Kayla making her way over to us and the smell gets stronger. Then I notice the purple haired beauty following her. I stare at her like I'm in trance and can barely concentrate enough to get that her name is Aquatia, Aqua for short. What a perfect name for her. I hear Kayla introduce us and when Aqua locks eyes with me it feels like the whole world stops. I look into her crystal blue eyes which has purple and gold specs in them and I realize.

"Mate!" Lucas yells happily jumping around in the back of my mind.

"Mate..." I growl as I keep looking into her eyes.

"What?!" Everyone else at the table snaps causing me to break eye contact with Aqua.

Aquatia's POV

"What?!" Everyone at the table yells.

"She is my mate." Sebastian explains simply, not turning his eyes away from me.

"Oh my god! I'm not even a werewolf like you guys..." I say in disbelief while looking at all of them.

"You know about us being werewolves?" Kayla says in shock.

"Yah, I'm not idiot." I answer which makes her and the others at the table laugh.

"Sorry. Ahem, what are you then? We know you aren't human." She continues.

"I'm sorry but I really can't say. One thing I can say though is that the chance of someone like me being mated to a werewolf is one in a billion." I explain.

"Really? You usually don't mate outside of your species?" Sebastian asks.

"We don't have mates. We can be mated to werewolves but that's it and like I just told you, that's not very likely. In that way we are like humans, we don't have mates so we just marry someone we get strong feelings for." I state in a matter-of-fact way.

"That's so sad! I don't know what I would do without Ty!" Kayla exclaims horrified.

"That's just how it is for us and we don't really know anything else." I say and sit down at the table next to Kayla and my newfound mate before starting to dig in on my sallad.

"I can't figure out what you are." Sebastian says after a few minutes of silence.

"Don't worry. Maybe once I know I can trust you I will tell but until then my lips are sealed." I say and pretend to zip my mouth closed.

"Can you at least give us a clue?" Hailie says speaking up for the first time.

"How I smell is a clue." I state before shoving more sallad into my mouth.

We then sit there in silence. I'm eating while they sometimes sniffs in the air a little trying to figure me out. It looks kind of funny actually. They all seem so concentrated that they wouldn't even notice if I suddenly started a food fight. I just finish eating when the warning bell rings telling us that class starts in five minutes.

"Well, I'm leaving now. Bye." I say and go leaving my tray before heading to the exit.

"Wait!" I hear Sebastian call behind me.

As I turn around I see him walk towards me. For some strange reason my stomach is quickly filled with butterflies. But then he does something that takes me completely off guard. He pulls me close to his chest and wraps his arms tightly around me which makes me feel sparks wherever his skin touches mine.

"What are you doing?" I ask him confused.

"Hugging you, obviously." He states not letting go.

"I mean, why?" I ask.

"My wolf is over the moon to have found you. Neither him nor I could bear with not even touching you when we finally met." He says.

He is about to let go of me when I hug him back. It feels good. It feels like I'm complete. I wrap my arms around his waist and bury my head in his chest inhaling his scent of chocolate and oranges. I don't let go until Kayla drags me away telling me we will be late for class. I wave goodbye to Sebastian before half running to my locker next to Kayla. We manage to get to class just in time.

Sebastian's POV After a long day at school and then a wonderful date Aqua and I ended up on the beach. We mostly talked during our date and I had so much fun. Not only do I love her like a girlfriend but she also feels like she is my best friend and I feel like I can be myself with her, she just makes me feel that comfortable. Watching the sunset together with her was magical. When the colors of the sky changed they shone at her painting her in warm colors while she smiled. And I dare to say that it was the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen. I guess that's mostly because it's the first one I have watched with her but still. I'm snapped out of my thoughts by Aqua falling asleep on my chest. I think about taking her home but it's very warm outside even at night so I stay here with Aqua still on my chest.

Most of my life I've spent growing up in the city of Macropolis, hidden deep in the South Pacific and I've watched the city change and grow with the tide. My golden tail is supposed to bring me fortune but the abilities I have has only served to make my life worse. I can change my appearance but what does it matter when my tail remains golden, still revealing to everyone who I am? Manipulating water is more useful, I guess, but it can also backlash if I don't control it correctly. And changing the weather is no point because this deep underwater the weather doesn't affect us either way. Any other abilities like speak every human and fish language, or turning my tail into legs, is something all mer-people can do. So in the end I don't feel very special. But perhaps that also has something to do with my foster parents' hobby of hurling insults and abuse in my direction. Either way I feel like jus

I bought mostly seafood considering that's what I normally eat but I got some new food as well because I have to get used to eating other human foods. But today I will stick to seafood. Shrimp and seaweed to be exact. After I'm done eating I try out the shower which is surprisingly easy to use. I also manage to blow dry my hair and comb it.
