Chapter 4 No Hope

Until my consciousness was about to be drained, Lara once again poured a bucket of cold water on my head.

My consciousness was dragged back from the brink of darkness.

I knew I must have looked like a mess now, with clothes barely covering me, swollen and bruised cheeks, and a deep dent in my abdomen.

Lara sauntered over. "You thought being pregnant would be enough to push me out of the picture?" she sneered, lifting her foot.

She pressed down on my stomach slowly, almost savoring the moment. The pain was excruciating, and a scream tore from my throat.

"Ah!"

The sound seemed to excite her. Her eyes lit up, and she looked like a demon reveling in someone else's misery. She stared down at my pain-stricken face, and her expression twisted with satisfaction.

"Let's see if you can ever carry another child again. You want to marry a rich man? Ha! Maybe in your next life!" She pressed down harder, her heel grinding into my abdomen with such force that it felt like she was crushing m
