We were forced to watch as he pinned Lyra to the wall by her neck. Lyra squirmed, trying to shove him away, but he squeezed the hand around her throat until she started turning purple and went limp, still conscious but no longer resisting.

The Beta grinned, letting off the pressure so she could breathe. "I'm going to enjoy turning your body against you and fucking that tight virgin pussy full of cum until you bare my pup." He murmured in her ear and pushed his hand down her threadbare sweatpants.

Lyra's eyes popped wide open and she began to squirm again, this time trying to press her thighs together. The Beta only pushed her legs apart with his knee and did something with his hand that made her squeak.

"There you go." He said. "Don't that feel good?"

Lyra whimpered, biting her lip, the scent of her unwilling arousal starting to fill the basement. When she started to twitch the Beta stopped whatever it was he was doing only to angle his wrist making Lyra gasp and arch her back. A low moan escaped her and silent tears swiftly followed. Her eyes sought Rain and, upon finding her watching, filled with shame.

"Mmm… You are tight." The Beta said appreciatively. "And already so wet for me. What a good little slut you are." He withdrew his hand and I felt Rain relax beside me. At least until the Beta yanked Lyra's sweatpants down to her ankles then off in one swift sudden move. Rain jerked against the chain trying to go to Lyra's aid but unable to move more than a few feet.

I took Rain's hand tightly in my own and gave it a squeeze. She flashed me a look, eyes wide and full of complex emotions, then went back to watching the horror unfold before us. We didn't want to watch, but we couldn't look away as the Beta unfastened his pants, letting the material fall around his ankles.

I had seen a penis before, having basically grown up in a nudist colony, but this one looked different. It seemed swollen and stood straight up against the Beta's lower abdomen instead of being loose and floppy. He grabbed his distended member in his free hand and began to slowly pull on it then push his hand back down.

It didn't look very pleasant to me but I could smell him, smell the musk of his arousal and he started to make little sounds that made me want to run away and hide under a blanket if I could only move my feet. I hated not being able to move. I hated feeling so powerless.

Finally, he let go of Lyra's throat.

Was that it? Was he done?

But he grabbed her by the hips and lifted her off the ground. Lyra yelped in surprise, grabbing his wrists for support. The Beta pushed one knee between her legs and against the wall then sat her on it then changed how he held her so that his arms were under her knees with his palms pressed flat against the cool cement wall, and he moved his leg. Lyra was now folded in half and pinned, unable to close her legs or cover herself. Rain and I got a full view of Lyra's private parts. Under the small mat of hair, her slit looked wet. I didn't understand what I was seeing. I didn't understand any of this.

"I'm going to enjoy fucking you." The Beta growled and slowly pushed his engorged penis into Lyra.

She cried for days after that, no matter how much Rain or I tried to comfort her. Eventually the tears stopped, but she was different, hollow. No longer optimistic, Lyra grew quiet, and when her belly began to swell, she became sullen. She was so fragile, a walking ghost of her former self.

When the baby came, I held her hands with her head in my lap while Rain knelt between her knees. Silent tears leaked from her eyes but she made no sound. At the first cries of the newborn, light flooded into our holding place making us cringe and squint. Heavy footsteps descended the stairs, the figure moving rapidly towards us.

“My baby.” Lyra whispered, hands outstretched for the bloody wrinkled bundle that Rain held. “Please, let me hold him.”

But before the new mother could meet her child, he was snatched away, the heavy footsteps retreating up the stairs to a waiting silhouette.

“No. No!” Trailing blood, Lyra crawled frantically after the fading cries of her son. “My baby! Give me my baby!”

“He’s mine now.” The cold voice of the Beta’s barren mate drifted down to us before the door slammed shut.

Lyra collapsed, sobbing on the stairs. She refused to move for hours, just crying on the stairs as the blood around her cooled. We never saw the baby again, but occasionally we could hear him squalling. Lyra had finally lost the last bit of light from her eyes. She was truly broken now.

It was only a few weeks later that everything went sideways.

The Beta and third in command dragged Rain and myself away from our appointed task by the collar to the front of the house where the Alpha and the rest of the pack waited. Lyra knelt at his feet in the snow. We were lined up and forced to the ground watching the Alpha, fearing what was to come. Lyra didn’t look up. She wouldn’t meet our eyes.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” The Alpha began. “We have before us the Silverwolf." He looked extremely pleased with himself, which could only mean one thing. He knew. “Would you please point to the wolf in question.”

“Oh no, Lyra…” Rain said softly as the girl who had been our sister in all, but blood slowly raised her head and looked straight at me. “Lyra you can’t.” The Beta who stood behind her kicked down to hand knees. “Lyra, please.” I didn’t look away, but I could hear the tears in her voice as Rain pleaded to no avail.

Lyra smiled a small sad smile, the first smile we had seen in months. “I’m doing this for you.” She looked at me again. “Please forgive me.” Her arm came up, one slim finger extended, pointing directly at me. “There is the Silverwolf.”

I couldn’t move, I couldn’t speak. Lyra had been a mentor, a sister to me, for seven long years. The feeling of betrayal was crushing, worse than any broken rib. I struggled to draw air, I couldn’t breathe. Through the rushing in my ears, I could hear Rain crying, demanding an explanation from Lyra.

“I did this for you, Rainy. I’ve set you free.” Tears streamed down Lyra’s face, but she still smiled. “May we meet again.”

“No.” Rain reached one hand out. “I love you, Lyra.”

“I love you too, Rain.”

“This is all very touching, but a bargain is a bargain.” The Alpha nodded to the men standing at our backs. “I release you.”

Lyra fell as if in slow motion, still smiling. She looked at peace with the world, finally happy after all the years of captivity. Only the unnatural angle of her neck gave any indication that she was dead. A high keening wail rose up beside me, silenced abruptly with a sickening crunch. In my peripherals, I watched the last of my sisters fall. I was too shocked to feel anything. No sorrow, no rage. I felt numb.

I was alone.

“We have the Silverwolf!” The pack cheered around me at the Alpha’s words, whooping and hollering. But they didn’t matter. I stared down into Lyra’s deep blue eyes that had already started to cloud. Even in death, they held so much emotion. Terror mostly, and pain but under that, love. I knew that her dead gaze would haunt my dreams for years to come, assuming I survived.

“I forgive you.” I whispered.

I awoke from my dream memory again, silent tears streaming down my face and sniffled. It had been one year since that day, one year of waking each night after the same dream, one year of reliving Rain and Lyra's death nightly. Lyra's blue eyes bored into my own as they began to cloud over.I rose from my nest of rags and cardboard shivering in the cold air. I hated this place, and I hated them.I slammed my fist into the wall and waited, both for my captors and for my knuckles to mend now that I'd broken them, again, punching cement. They'd be down soon to fetch me up to make breakfast. Their personal slave. The only one left.I heard the rattle of the key in the lock and light flooded into my "room." There were no windows down here. No warmth or comfort. Just the same old rusty pipes and bare cement walls. It had been easier when the other captive children were still here. We had huddled together during the freezing winters and held each other when we cried. But they were all gone now

I turned slowly, fully expecting to be hit. Instead, my jaw dropped open. There was no swinging fist, no angry glare, Logan wasn't even facing me. Was all he said before turning back to the eggs. Then, a moment later, "Hey, are these done?"Hesitantly, I stepped forward to where I could see the contents of the giant cast iron pan. It looked… perfect. The eggs were lightly browned in places, the onions were translucent, and the cheese was a beautiful gooey mess around chunks of meat and tomato. It smelled heavenly."Yes, sir." I squeaked."Just Logan. Here, you plate, and I'll start setting the table." He was still smiling as he handed the spatula back to me. Confusion swirled throu

Through the wall, I could hear congratulatory remarks and joyous welcomes seemingly directed at Logan. After that first trip to the infirmary, Logan kept a much closer eye on me. Any time someone tried to hurt me, he stepped in like my own personal guardian angel. There were still occasions when he was kept busy, but on those occasions, he would always help me to the medical building where Skye would patch me up and send me on my way.It was during one of these visits that I discovered why Logan trusted Skye around me without any protective or jealous tendencies. Skye had no interest in women, and that made him safe for me to be around."I don't have to worry about him pulling anything or trying to take you away from me." Logan had explained sending butterflies fluttering in my stomach. "You're too special for me to share."Sadly, the newfound protection was cut short when the Alpha caught on and began to actively separate us. While still infrequent, the beatings got more severe, and I was left to crawl to the medical building on my own, leaving a trail of blood."Dear God!" Skye hastil

I paused in dinner preparations for a moment, a tear trickling down my cheek as I thought back to how Logan had been when we first met. Before he got pushy about us mating and demanding of sex. Had it only been a few months ago?At first, I had been all for us mating. I loved him with my whole being. I wanted us to be together, always. Again and again, we would stand under the full moon trying to bind our souls."Soul by blood and flesh and bone. Here in your heart, my spirit is home. My strength is yours, thine will is my own. I'll be beside you wherever you roam." We spoke the words in unison while gazing into each other's eyes, and a warmth would begin to spread outward from my heart. The mating bond would start to form then as we stood breathing in sync. This completed the first half of the ceremony. The second half began when we raised a wrist to the other's lips and bit down. The magic in our blood would spill forth in that rush of crimson. A promise to provide. A promise to sha

"Father, stop!"Logan was suddenly there, pulling his dad away from me. "You could kill my pup!"He knew?My eyes popped open in shock, and I pressed a hand to the tiny baby bump under the overly large shirt I wore. How did he know? It was just a bundle of cells at this point. There wasn't even a heartbeat yet! So how?I watched as the Alpha's angry face shifted into one of surprise, and he looked down at me. I quickly averted my gaze until he looked back at Logan."Shit." He breathed. It actually sounded like he felt bad. Not for hurting me, of course, but for potentially hurting his grandpup."Take her to the healer, then come right back here." Alpha Greyson ordered. "Leah."My attendant snapped to attention. "Sir?""Take over on dinner." And with that, he left the room, calling out. "And clean this mess up!" As he went.I breathed a sigh and winced. I can carry you across one stupid ravine.” Skye's jaw was set in pain, and I didn't need his gift to know that his left arm was causing him tremendous pain with every subtle movement. Over his shoulder, the three pursuing wolves were gaining on us, and more had begun to clamber up the gnarled exposed root ball of the old Fir. We weren't going to reach the other side. “You have to leave me, Skye.” I begged, tugging on the front of his shirt like a child. “You can make it out of here, but not like this. The Healer and I mirrored each other as our heads whipped to face the speaker, identical expressions of horror marring our features. There in the open doorway stood Alpha Greyson, and he was pissed. I could only imagine how much of our conversation he had overheard since I was so engrossed in storytelling that I hadn't heard, or even sensed, his approach. Dread settled in my stomach like a ball of iron and turned my knees to jelly. How could I have been so careless? I was usually so alert! “Fuck.” The word spilled from my mouth and cracked through the still air like a whip. This was exactly the kind of thing that I was hoping to avoid. Greyson growled low in his throat, expecting me to drop my gaze and show my belly like a good little submissive wolf, like the weak pathetic thing he had tried to make me. “No time to pack, Skye. We go, now.” I growled back at Greyson and shifted. I quickly realized that not taking my clothes off before shifting was a huge mistake as the fa

He folded one arm across his chest, tucking that hand in the elbow of his adjacent arm while tapping his chin with the other hand. His hazel eyes sought the ceiling in thought. “Do you know how long we'll be traveling?” He asked, turning his gaze to meet mine briefly. I shook my head, and he hummed. “We won't need a tent or sleeping bags since we can sleep in our fur. I won't be able to run on four legs, so stealth will have to be our prerogative.” “My wolf should be big enough for you t

As promised, I was permitted to go back to sleep once the guests had left. I wasn't tired anymore, but if I was going to run tomorrow, I was going to need my rest to gather all of the strength that I possessed. I managed to nap a little, but mostly, I thought about how I would escape. Patrols would be doubled with the lykaon nearby, and those four males hunting it could also pose a problem. I either needed to get enough of a head start that they couldn't catch up or find a way to slow them down. Pondering my options, my mind drifted to a little plant that I had thought of using on myself, but Silver had never allowed it. Now, it might give me the time I needed. The little wolfsbane had grown considerably despite my best attempts to prune it back to keep it hidden. It looked lush and vibrant, tucked against the wall where it grew despite the late February chill. The small buds had barely begun to form, but when they opened in several months, they would open into beautiful purple b

What could I do? With that thought, calm slid through me, and Silver took control of my body, letting me sink into the safe embrace of her pelt. “Worry not, Little One. Then, slipping back into the overly large t-shirt that I insisted on wearing as pajamas, she padded silently into the bathroom and closed the door just in time for the bedroom door to bang open. “Logan, get up.” The Alpha snapped. “Mmph… What time is it?” Logan asked groggily.
