TWO YEARS LATER
"Zoe, wake up! There's a VVIP guest. You take it!"
Zoe stood up from the sofa that served as her bed, looking at the person who had just woken her up with an annoyed expression, but then Zoe smiled. She recognized the person.
Tiana, a woman in her forties, was also the owner of the strip club where she currently worked.
Zoe reached for the string that was usually used to hang a name tag, but it wasn't a name tag hanging at the end of it. There was a stack of cards with various writings that could be chosen. But Tiana seemed impatient.
"Yes... yes. I know you'll thank me. But later. He's not a patient person and wants to have fun tonight."
Tiana took the greeting card from Zoe's hand and threw it onto the table. Zoe looked at it disappointedly, as she had just found a quicker way to communicate besides writing.
"Sorry, but not tonight. I'll see it tomorrow. I need to get you ready. Put this on."
Tiana wasn't usually rough, but her guest was a VVIP regular. In a hurry, Tiana handed Zoe a blue bikini model with white feathers on the edges.
While Zoe put on the bikini, Tiana touched up Zoe's face, fixing the makeup that was smudged from sleeping earlier. She combed Zoe's dark blonde hair to make her curly locks more pronounced and frame her face.
"That's enough. I think the guest will be satisfied." Tiana looked tense but smiled. Zoe also smiled in gratitude. Not all dancers received special treatment from Tiana.
"Put this on, and then I'll take you to him."
Zoe had finished putting on knee-high white boots, and the final piece of her outfit was a white fur-trimmed robe. The robe made her look like a cartoon character from a children's show—though she wasn't wearing just a bikini.
"Let's go!" Tiana opened the dressing room door, and Zoe's ears were hit by pounding music and cheers. After almost six months of working there, Zoe was used to it.
Zoe was no longer surprised to see, among the dim club lights, five or six people writhing on a stage that resembled a table among the club's patrons. Any fabric didn't cover the upper part of the dancer's body. There were stacks of money tucked into the edges of the minimal underwear, which consisted only of strings. Compared to them, Zoe's bikini seemed modest.
The patrons enjoyed the provocative movements. The money in the underwear served as both tips and income. Zoe had done it earlier, a session lasting about two hours, which had left her tired and asleep.
But if Tiana asked her to serve a VVIP guest who had booked the VIP room, Zoe wouldn't refuse. Their tips were substantial. Tiana often requested her to entertain VVIP guests because Zoe didn't talk much—more accurately, she couldn't speak.
Zoe's ability to speak hadn't returned after the coma. But that became Zoe's advantage. VVIP guests liked strippers who didn't talk much. They came to enjoy naked bodies, and that was all.
"Remember, he's a regular here, don't cause any trouble," Tiana warned before opening the VIP room door.
Zoe nodded. She wasn't interested in causing trouble either. Zoe just wanted money.
"Mmm... It's only sometimes like this, but he usually wants full service. Are you up for it? The tips he gives are quite substantial. Megan once got five thousand dollars from him."
Zoe's eyes widened at hearing five thousand dollars, but she had never gone as far as providing full service. Going fully nude was expected, but not going as far as spending the night together.
"Come on, answer quickly." Tiana urged. She was already holding the door handle.
Zoe shook her head. The amount of money tempted her, but she wasn't ready to sell herself. Maybe later.
"Fine, okay. I'll tell the guest, but if he rejects you and asks for a replacement, you can't protest."
"Mmm..." Zoe regretted that and wished Tiana had waited for her to think, but the door was already open. Zoe's protests no longer matter.
The scent of cigars greeted Zoe. The room was filled with thick smoke that added to the dim atmosphere. The dim yellowish-blue lights barely illuminated the room, not even reaching its corners.
"I apologize... Have you been waiting long?" Tiana approached the man who was sitting with his legs crossed.
"It's fine, as long as what you bring me is excellent."
"Don't worry. Everything on Zoe's body is genuine. No implants or fat injections." Tiana smiled. She knew his preferences.
Zoe brushed the smoke away from her face, wanting to see the man with the husky voice. His voice sounded as if it came from the depths of a dark ocean.
The strand of silver hair near his left ear immediately caught Zoe's attention. Grey hair, yet his face was still relatively smooth. And not entirely grey, as the rest of his thick hair was still black.
He wasn't that old, but he was incredibly handsome. His body was sturdy, with his muscles visibly defined despite his arms being covered by a shirt.
Zoe couldn't see the colour of his eyes in the dim room, but she saw a row of sharply angled eyebrows, a prominent nose, tanned skin, a goatee, and sensual full lips, dark reddish-black.
"Decent." The deep voice sounded again. He's evaluating Zoe's body.
It wasn't just Zoe who was staring; the man had been staring at her all along and had given her a decent evaluation.
Zoe was slightly offended by that. She had never been evaluated as "decent" before.
But Zoe wouldn't show her emotions. She just had to do her job.
"Mr Wolf, I assure you, she's in excellent condition. But she doesn't offer full..."
Tiana fell silent as Zoe pulled her hand away. Zoe gave a nod.
"I mean... She can also provide whatever you desire." Tiana corrected herself, glancing towards Zoe to ensure that Zoe had just agreed to sleep with him if he requested it.
Zoe nodded again, hiding her trembling hand. The decision came suddenly and boldly after Zoe heard the man's name.
Zoe might not recognize his face, but she knew that name. Wolf is the name of a very famous producer and the one who managed Iris White. The woman that ruins her life.
A daring plan formed in Zoe's mind. A genuinely audacious goal. Wolf continued to observe Zoe, especially her face. Zoe tilted her head, allowing him to see her face more clearly. She positioned herself at the right angle so Wolf wouldn't judge her appearance too harshly. "I'll take a look first," Wolf said, placing his drink on the table. Not an ordinary table. The table was Zoe's stage. Round, wide enough for a dancer to move safely and freely, with an iron pole in the centre. "I hope you like it." Tiana excused herself. As the sound of Tiana's footsteps grew fainter as the room door closed, Zoe's heartbeat grew louder. She usually no longer got nervous and worked professionally immediately, but this time was different. She had to succeed in getting Wolf interested in her. She had to make him request full service and leave an impression. "You choose the song." Wolf handed Zoe a tablet containing a list of songs, and Zoe was thankful for it. She could choose a song she was very
Zoe nodded in response to Wolf's question. The writing was not wrong. But the request was considered wrong by Wolf. The man, who had deep green irises, looked at Zoe as if he had just met a crazy woman."Do you want more money? If it's just more money... I'll give it to you. Your body is not bad. But not this." Wolf flicked the paper out of her hand, considering it trash."Mmmm..." Zoe mumbled while waving her hands in panic. Afraid that Wolf would leave. But that mumbling made Wolf, who was just about to put on his shirt, stop and look at her with a questioning face. He could see that Zoe was having trouble speaking."Are you mute?" Wolf used sign language. But Zoe didn't understand the sign language. She wrote the answer again on the paper, then held it out.[I'm not deaf, but I can't speak. Nerve problem in the brain. It's long. I don't want to explain it. But I still want to marry you.]An answer that made Wolf snort. Because it was hilarious."So your brain is impaired. No wonder
Zoe gulped. She wanted to shake her head. This was the bravest and craziest choice she'd ever made. She was plunging into a realm she had no idea what it would be like. But revenge was tempting. Her unrequited heartache-which gnawed at her heart every time she saw Max's face on the billboard, was not to be ignored either. They made her mute and crushed her talents and dreams. Killed her unborn child. All that list is enough to make Zoe. The list of villainy was enough to fuel her desire for revenge.Zoe nodded, then showed the short note she had made. [Yes, I know.]"Well, then let's test it." Wolf smiled."Kneel and kiss my feet. This is the level of servitude I want." Wolf lifted his still-naked legs as well, crossing them. Waiting for Zoe. A request that clearly expressed absolute surrender following Zoe's writing. Zoe hesitated, never expecting the offer to come so quickly in such a challenging form.Kissing his feet was a lowering of self-esteem than selling her body. The act i
"Are you sure you're going to do this? How... One moment."Although she had read Zoe's note, Tiana still seemed to find it hard to accept. She checked it once more while Zoe was organizing her things. There wasn't much, just her make-up kit and some boots she bought herself. Other than that, her costumes mostly belonged to Tiana. Today, Zoe would be moving into Wolf's house."He's not the kind of person you can have as a husband, Zoe. You know that, don't you?" Tiana took Zoe's hand, asking her to consider.Zoe reached for the card hanging around her neck and showed the word 'I know.' Many common words hung there, including 'thank you,' 'no,' and 'okay'. Short words that she didn't need to write anymore."Then why... Don't tell me you still haven't forgotten..."Zoe patted Tiana's hand, then typed a sentence on the cell phone hanging around her neck.[They killed my son, made me unable to speak! I won't forget!]Zoe pointed at her writing several times to show her anger. Tiana sighed.
Zoe carefully walked into the house, which was, of course, very luxurious. She feared her steps would crack the marble floor. The floor was so shiny that, for a moment, Zoe thought it was made of glass. But even if she tap danced on it, it would be fine."Mr. Wolf's room is upstairs. I'll drop you off." Stefan, the man who had picked her up and driven her to the house, grabbed Zoe's luggage and led her to the second floor.Zoe had not yet finished admiring artwork in the form of sculptures and paintings, and then there was an open space filled with an indoor garden—a modern minimalist type of setting. But the view on the second floor wasn't too bad either. Zoe could see New York City in the distance from the wide-open glass walls throughout the second floor. The house wasn't in New York City, but it wasn't too far away.It was a perfect suburb, filled with the elite who did business in New York City. Zoe knew Billy also lived in the area but didn't know where. Maybe she would find out
"Clay shut up."Wolf asked Clay, his friend, to stop talking. He was reading the message from Zoe with amazement. The contents were too shocking, for sure."Since when did you receive the message?"Clay was astonished, knowing that Wolf was against texting. He preferred to call, and people who called Wolf's cell phone usually knew enough not to send messages."She doesn't know yet... oh... She can't..."Wolf had just raised the phone to his ear to call Zoe but then remembered that Zoe would be unable to speak. So Wolf also wrote a message finally."What are you replying to? Who can make you send a message?" Clay was getting extremely curious. They were in the middle of a business conversation. It was unusual that Wolf would stop the conversation just because of a call or a message. But now Clay saw the Wolf struggling to type while frowning. His thumbs moved very slowly on the surface of the phone screen. There was a reason why Wolf didn't like sending messages. He wasn't used to typi
Wolf stepped over with a frown. This was because the house was dark. It was only eight o'clock, very far from bedtime. He was used to dark houses, but something should have changed. There were other living, breathing creatures inhabiting his house. The darkness made him wonder.Wolf proceeded to the light source coming from his bedroom. Only that room produced signs of life. Leaking the location of where Zoe was.Wolf opened the door without asking or knocking, only to find that a local storm had passed through his room. His house was always neat. Nothing was misplaced or crumpled. The sight of the blankets and bed covers on the floor amazed him.And not just that. There were sheets of paper falling around the bed. A pile of papers was still relatively high on the table. Which certainly wasn't there yesterday.Wolf never worked in his room. He rarely brought his work to his room except when he was sick.Wolf reached out, picking up the next strange find. It was more interesting than t
Wolf's riding was pretty rough yesterday, and Zoe enjoyed it. But it was different when Zoe didn't want it. She only got pain."AGHH!" Zoe screamed and struggled, but Wolf didn't stop his movements. Instead, he leaned over and whispered in Zoe's ear."Say my name, and I'll replace this pain with something you can enjoy..."But Zoe couldn't do that. She shook her head and kept trying to break free from Wolf's body."Stubborn..."Wolf paused momentarily and muttered angrily, turning Zoe's body over and opening her legs. Zoe kicked his leg, but just like before, Wolf caught it easily."Don't be stubborn and say my name quickly..." Wolf growled again as he held Zoe's legs open on the bed. But then he frowned. He saw something else.Zoe was crying and scared. She was sobbing, her voice indistinct but trying to speak. Her lips moved but could not form words. Just mumbles and gurgling sounds from her throat."You can talk! You can sing!" Wolf still didn't want to believe it."NO!" Zoe shoute
