He walked into the main dining hall that had been decked out with fresh flowers and even probably close to 1000 candles. He had to wonder if his sisters thought that this would work. As if trying to set a mood that he wasn't in the mood to even remotely talk to anybody, let alone meet the person that he was supposed to stay with. This wasn't the way to do it. He took one look at everyone that was in the room waiting for him to join them before they started having dinner and knew that this night was going to be nothing more than a headache. At this point, he was looking forward to somebody trying to interrupt the night with some information. Even though he had specifically told everybody that he would be busy for the evening dealing with his mother and sisters and, of course, all the extra eligible females that were waiting to bat their eyes. They had all looked at him like he was nothing more than a giant piece of meat that had a
Benton walked briskly to the medical facility. It wasn't that far, but it was far enough where it would take him a few minutes to get there. As you walk down the hall, he could hear everything starting to get a little bit more pronounced. Something was going on, and he wasn't exactly sure what. Whatever, it sounded like it wasn't that good. He was absolutely sure that he wasn't going to enjoy having to deal with whatever he was walking into. One of the doctors was yelling, and some of the nurses as well. But he didn't know who they were yelling at, and it seemed as if it was getting louder as he was getting closer, but it wasn't because of the distance. It was because of whatever the situation was, the doctor absolutely adamant for somebody to get out of the area. Benton stopped for a minute and tried to piece together what he could already hear coming from the medical Bay. He thought it would probably be best if he took a moment to lis
Benton followed the doctor out into the hallway. It was one of the very few times that somebody was going to lead him around. He wasn't the submissive type. He was usually the most dominant male in the room, period. However, he did trust the doctor, and he would follow him. That was just something that was going to happen. Otherwise, he wouldn't be working there. “The patient exhibits some kind of PTSD towards the water. Something very bad happened to her. The only time that we can understand what is going on with her is when she's asleep. Right now, she's talking in her sleep period. She keeps mentioning Josh, but we don't know who that is. Neither does she. She seems confused when we mention that name. However, when it's time to get water near her as we need to cleanse and bathe certain areas to make sure that no infection sets in, we have a huge issue with her, and it's the only time that we have any type o
The entire room went completely silent. The only thing that was heard was the beeping of the machines. The woman in the middle of the room was clearly in shock. Now her wide eyes and the confused look on her face were the only thing that people were staring at. They needed to see any type of recognition with the name that he had just said. It was clear that she didn't have a clue. She wasn't reacting to the name at all, but that wasn't unusual when it came to cases of amnesia. Even Benton was sitting there looking at her very closely. He meant every word that he said, though. It was one of the very few times that he had shown any type of empathy for a person, but he knew that he had done wrong. He wasn't going to take it out on her anymore because of his mistake. He was going to make sure that she was taken care of medically and that all of her needs were met. It was a fluke that she had been that close to the base at all; how
The next two weeks seemed to fly by. Every bit of information that they had gathered from the trace analysis and even what her body went through. Seemed to confirm the fact that she was Kelly Williams. There had been quite a few rescue efforts, and even recovery efforts to find the boat that she was supposed to be on, but it didn't seem that it was even in the area. There was no wreckage to be found at all. The doctors had also found that there were two massive brain bruises. One was a few days older than the rest. Or at least that's what they were guessing it was. There was no way to test to see how old it was; however, with the size in the way that it was shrinking, they had to assume that it had been inflicted days prior. Benton didn't exactly like the way that that news had come out. The way that the doctors had explained it to him was basically that that wound was probably inflicted the day of the boating accident
Everybody stood in shock. No one could believe the screen that was in front of them. However, when the doctor saw it, he agreed that that was the most probable reason why that particular brain bruise was there. The abnormal shape of the bruise on the outside of her skin is the only thing that was a real clue. No, of course, it had faded in time. It was still there, and they could see the outline. This just confirmed everything that they had begun to think after the phone call with her parents, which Benton had explained to the doctor what had gone on, and even he had thought that something was a little odd with that. When they walked to the medical Bay as they were discussing the next step of her treatment, which would be to get up and introduce her to a few other things around the compound, they walked into the room, and she was asleep. She was once again crying out for the person named Josh, and this was the first time
Kelly had started to respond to her own name. She still had no memory of anything. She had noticed that about a week ago, people had started treating her a little bit differently, but she couldn’t put her finger on why. Everybody had acted the same until she fell asleep, and then the next day, when she woke up, everybody was a lot nicer to her period, even though people were pretty nice to her in the first place. She knew she didn't belong there. The idea that she was being taken care of by some secret billionaire who had his own compound that was literally built into a mountain was almost hilarious to her period. She didn't know if she had a good sense of humor or a dark sense of humor, but she just thought that that was absolutely hilarious. She wasn't that special. At least in her own mind, she never seemed to be. Right now she felt that way. She looked at her hands, and even though they were not completely scraped up, she had rea
“You're not going anywhere.” Benton stated as he continued to just stare at her blankly. “You have to stay here. It's the safest place for you.” “I can't stay here forever. I need to be able to go back into the world. To resume my life even though I don't remember it. There has to be something that I forgot because I know that there is an important part of it, and I don't know anything about it. It's like I constantly forget something extremely important.” Kelly said she looked at him. “I understand that this is absolutely frustrating for you being stuck in this bed and not remembering anything. We're working on different types of sensory things that might help you trigger your memories. The doctor, doesn't necessarily think that it's absolutely permanent. It means with time, it could all come back to you. We've exhausted everything that could possibly help you; I really do believe that you need to stay here. There are just too man
Benton had ordered all the supplies that he thought that she would like to have a say in area that was going to be hers for a while. He was still trying to work out how he was going to keep her there as long as he possibly could keep her there until she figured out exactly what she was going to do. There were still a lot of things that were going on that she didn't remember or couldn't afford to remember. When he had talked to the doctor again about her condition and the fact that it seemed like there was some kind of mental block, there was almost like a wall. He had learned that there were different types of amnesia, and she was suffering from one of the ones that could basically be because of a trauma that the brain was saving the person from remembering. The way that it was explained to Benton was that the human body had a natural instinct to make sure that it protected itself. That included and d
It had been three months since they got married, and now it was time for Benton's birthday. He was turning 34, and he knew at that time that a few months ago, he would have never really put any stock into how old he was. Now he realized that he was ten years older than his wife. He also had one year to fulfill the clause that his father had left in the will. That didn't seem to be too much of a hardship for him, and he enjoyed trying to make sure that they fulfilled it. Kelly had made sure that everything was simple on his birthday for him. He didn't want to have a huge celebration. He just wanted to spend it with her. After all the work that they had done with the quantum diffuser and the different aspects of its building for different applications, this was going to be a relaxing weekend that she had planned for the two of them. They weren't even leaving the compound. They were just going to be spending it mostly in their private apartments. T
The day after the wedding, Benton had scheduled a news conference to discuss the quantum diffuser. He had also scheduled a little bit of a personal update. They were going to announce the wedding and the fact that they were happily married now. He was more excited about everything than he had been in his entire life. The more that they got settled into the compound together, the happier he was with everything that was going on. The news had broken with her name, considering how many people had been charged in the crime and how many other people needed to come forward to receive the money that they had donated. Benton had set up a fund that would pay everybody back because there was no telling where the money had gone since nobody had any in any of their accounts. He didn't want people to have to pay for being nice. All they had to do was prove that they had given money to that particular campaign on go fund me and they would receive the money-back no questions
“You may now kiss the bride.” was the only thing that Benton heard the entire time he was looking at Kelly. He knew that he had said his vows and that she had replied with her own. But that was the only thing that he could focus on. As soon as the officiant had said that, he bent down, and he gave her a very slow but not majorly graphic kiss. Cameras went wild, in everybody cheered for the two of them. “Welcome to the family chipmunk.” Penny sighed as she looked at Kelly for the first time, knowing that they had not been introduced before, but the small woman had been a part of every decision that her brother had made for her. “Chipmunk?” Kelly asked as she looked at a Penny. “It's just a cute family name that I don't even think Benton realizes why I call you that. It isn't the fact that you appeared out of the wilderness. I don't need to know the story. I have a feeling I already do, and if you need anyone to help you navigate t
That's when a new voice came from behind them. Benton hadn't even seen his older sister walk up through the arch of trees. “Mother, do be a dear and just sit down. Benton is finally happy, and he deserves this chance. He made his choice. And it's time for the family to support him instead of trying to get him to do what we want. His little chipmunk is the one that makes him this way. If he says that he's going to fulfill the clause, it doesn't really matter what happens to the rest of us. We should all be grateful that he was even willing to put himself on the line like that. However, this is his day. This is not the day for you to throw a holy fit in front of a bunch of strangers.” Penny stated very eloquently as she began to look around the area. She was slightly impressed with what everything had looked like. It wasn't like she had been to the area before, but she could see what had been done. “This is fitting for you, Benton. That you marry your little chipmunk an
The day was perfectly clear. There was not a cloud in sight, and there was nothing but blue skies and the warm rays of the sun beating down as they went to the area that she had chosen. There was an area that she could get dressed because she was adamant, he was not going to see her before the ceremony in the dress. The way that she looked at it was that she had already had it an extraordinarily large amount of bad luck that had turned to good luck. She didn't want to take any chances of anything else happening that could possibly ruin the day. When they got to the area, they split up, and Benton was already in his suit. He looked over the area and saw that everything was absolutely gorgeous. She had done so well with the help that he had provided her with the team that was able to do what she wanted to make this the perfect day for them. This was the day he never expected to come. He never expected that he would be the one getting married. Instead, he would b
The meeting with her father went basically the same way, even though the man seemed to show a little bit more remorse for the actions that he did. After the meeting, the detectives looked her over and saw that she had completely changed during the meetings. The woman that was composed that was in front of him right now was not the same woman who was in the interrogation room. It had all been an act on her part that she was so secure and happy in her life. She had made it a little more exaggerated to prove a point to her family. It was a good point to make. They understood why and so did the man that was standing next to her. She was happy, and that was easy to see. What had gone on in the interrogation rooms was her making sure that her family was going to know that she was well taken care of while they were the ones that tried to end her life. Benton took her back to the apartment and knew that she was probably going to have some kind of break. Though every t
They arrived at the police station holding hands, and the detectives saw the ring on her finger and gave them both congratulations. It didn't seem like anyone understood why she wanted to be there, and she wanted to confront both of her parents, but she wanted to do it separately was the fact that she wanted to make sure that they knew by trying to kill her, she had given her the opportunity to find everything that she had ever wanted in her life. That was Benton. He was the thing that she needed the most in her life, and she knew now that as well. It had nothing to do with the amount of money that he owned or the company or who he was. It was the last part partly. He was absolutely everything that she could have ever wanted for a partner in her life. He supported her in ways that nobody ever had before. “Your mother was extremely surprised that you requested to talk to her.” the detective said as he looked at Kelly. He was trying not to show his shock about t
Kelly looked at Denton two days before the day that they were going to get married, and he knew she had something to say. Though she wasn't exactly sure how to say it. It was written all over her face that there was something that she wanted to discuss, but she didn't exactly know-how. He started to get a little frightened because of everything that was going on because of the wedding that maybe she wasn't ready for. Maybe she was going to cancel it. Every bad thing that could possibly happen was going through his mind at the moment. There was really too much tension going on in the room, and he didn't know how to handle it. “Is there something that you want to discuss?” he finally came out and asked and looked at her knowing that she could come out of the left-field with something. And it would throw him completely out of his game. There were so many things that she could just end between them in there, and every bit of happiness that he had fo
Kelly soon found out that planning a wedding in a week was not exactly easy. Though she had a spot picked out in her mind making sure that it was open and that it was available was going to be difficult even though she knew that she could probably use the name and get the space if she needed to. She didn't want to be one of those types of people, and it wasn't in her, so when she found out that the area that she had wanted was already booked, she wasn't all that surprised. It was a beautiful place to have a wedding. Instead, she had put a little bit of money down that he had given her for the other couple to be able to have a few more things. She continued to look for a place, and then she found another one that was absolutely gorgeous, and it was outside. Everything was perfect for the vision that she had in her mind. And it was open. She immediately booked it and then let him know that they had the space available and where it was. He had already hired a com
