The laser grid system that set off the alarms at the laboratory and house it was built into the side of the mountain went off with such an abrupt Ness that I took everybody by surprise. It was full dark outside. He didn't know what time it was. He'd been in the lab pretty much the entire day. He was absolutely sure that within the next week, all of his work would be vindicated. And he would have created one of the most important scientific devices of all time.
He heard the team of security agents running by his door. He went to the balcony, and he looked down, and that's when he saw a body at the base of the mountain. He owned the entire mountain range for at least five miles in each direction. He was not exactly known for being kind to those who trespassed. The security team would deal with it, so he just shrugged it off and went back inside. Something about the form, though, was staying with him. The person that was laying at the base of the hill didn't exactly move at all either. And that's what got his mind working again. It didn't make any sense that somebody would try to break in and end up in that particular position.
He cautiously decided to go downstairs to watch over what the security team decided to do. They would be taking the stairs down as the elevator probably would be the safest bet, but since the alarms were still going off, there was a chance that the elevators could stop. He went ahead and went into his private elevator that was only attached to his apartments and the base of the mountain. When he walked through the open area that his elevator opened to, he could hear the security team starting to make their way outside, and he followed in their wake. It wasn't normal for him to have any interaction with most of the people who lived or worked on the base that he had created inside the mountain. It was the perfect cover for everything that he was doing. And that's the moment that everything changed when he walked outside.
Benton Danielson was what most people called eccentric. The Danielson fortune had left him with the opportunity to try and change the world without the world knowing that it was him. Most people only knew that he had this mountain range but not exactly what they were doing there. He was so close to his scientific discovery that only a few people knew about it, and most of them worked and lived within the mountain range itself. It had taken years to clear out and hollow some of the mountains to create apartment buildings and different laboratory aspects, including and complete Medical Center. But it wasn't until he saw the person who was at the base of the mountain that he knew everything was gonna go up in smoke. He was absolutely taken back by what he saw. So was the security team. This was not what they expected to encounter.
“They're still alive.” the lead member of the security team said as they reached over and checked for the pulse. The body that was before them was extremely bruised and battered and had blood still on their face.
“Well then get a stretcher and get them into the Medical Center,” Benton replied. He wanted to find out what they wanted and why they were there in the first place. However, in this particular condition, they were going to be absolutely worthless. He knew that he had to fix them so he could find out what they wanted. While they were there. Right now, there were a lot of questions that needed to be answered that he didn't know if they would ever be answered with the condition of the person that was there. The security team had radioed the medical team to be prepared. “I want updates on their condition every hour. when they're finally awake, I want to be the first one to talk to them.”
“Yes, Sir.” the security team member said as they looked at him, and he turned on his heel and went back inside to the elevator that nobody knew about. Whatever was going on, he knew this was going to be the beginning of something. He needed to know if he needed to up security or not. He was too close to finishing his life's work. That was the important thing. Not this person.
He didn't want to sound cruel. It really wasn't in his nature to be like that. However, if this person was trying to break into his compound, he knew that they were no good. The body was in pretty bad shape. He still wasn't exactly sure what had happened. He would address the medical team when they came to him with the report. The person would receive medical care and then would also have to pay for trying to break into the compound. He would figure out something when the time came. Nothing was more important than his discovery. It was what he had worked for his entire life. It is what his father died for. Then we had had money his entire life. He knew that this was what the family legacy was. He was going to make sure that it came to fruition. Then he could move on with the rest of his life.
As he went back up to his private apartments, he was surprised to find the guest of his sister there waiting for him. The alarm set stopped. He knew what his sister was doing, and he wasn't too thrilled with the idea. Right now, he had too much to focus on. He wasn't going to put up with his sister's matchmaking skills. He wasn't going to give in to her either. The woman that was sitting next to his sister, who is trying to bite her eyes and look sweet and innocent, was definitely not what he wanted in the end. Moving on with the rest of his life only meant one thing period to continue the family line. Eventually, he would find a woman who would know her place and would allow him to continue to do whatever he wants to do here in the lab. He would get updates soon enough.
The people who had contact with the person who was brought in were honestly shocked that anyone could survive whatever they had survived. The person was completely battered and bruised and extremely swollen. They were surprised that the person had a pulse, let alone rather strong one still. The doctors began a myriad of tests to try and find what exactly was wrong with them. They didn’t spare any resource they had at hand. It wasn't until about two hours after the fact that they realized they were in over their heads. They had run Xrays and even the MRI and cat scan on the person and realized that there was a lot more damage than they thought that they could possibly take care of. However, one doctor knew that they had to operate extremely quickly to be able to give this person a chance at survival. They had severe internal bleeding. The bleeding was happening very slowly, so they had time to figure everything out. They did have a surgeon on cal
“You said that she had a few other issues,” Benton stated as he was trying to process everything that the doctor had just told him. He was not facing the men and looking at him. There was something that most people didn't even get when it came to talking to him. Benton had a reputation of not seemingly caring about most people. One of the richest men in the world, and then it almost seemed like he had no interpersonal skills. Most people just felt happy to be in the same room as him, as if either his money or his intellect would be the thing that would make them rise up like a phoenix. He hated that more than anything. “She has massive brain bleeding. Whatever happened to her, she hit her head quite a few times. There's no actual telling until she wakes up what the damage was.” The doctor said as he leveled a stare at Benton. “What is the cause of her injuries?” Benton asked as he looked at the girl. He was not curious because there was
Though she couldn't open her eyes, she knew that she was laying in a bed. She didn't know she knew that or what even a bed really was. She couldn't remember everything that was going on around her period. She remembered being outside. That's when she started to really think and almost began to panic internally. She had no idea who she was. She had no idea where she was. Everything that was running her was foreign, and she had no idea what it was there for in the first place. There was a lot going on around her, and she could hear various people in the background, but she still couldn't open her eyes just yet. The people that were there didn't seem to notice that she was any different, so she just laid there perfectly still. There was a sense of panic that was pumping through every one of her veins. Being where she was, she had to think that she was safe even though she really didn't know anything that was going on around
Despite the amount of medication the doctors had been pumping her full of, she managed to start to wake up without them even realizing it. When a nurse came into the room that she had been placed in, even though it was highly monitored with the guards and even the doctors and staff of the Medical Center. She was slightly surprised to see the girl there with her eyes completely wide open. “Where am I?” the girl managed to ask, and she looked at the nurse, who was about ready to drop the tray of medications. She was clearly surprised and even shocked to the point that she was embarrassed. “You need to hold on one moment. I need to get one of the doctors in here. You should not be awake right now.” center sign she placed the tray down and then quickly ran out of the room, and then there was another high pitch sound that echoed through the area. She didn't know what the noise was. There was nothing there before
“Mr. Danielson, Sir, I explained to you that she might not be able to truly communicate anything right off the bat when she did wake up. It seems that my suspicions were confirmed. I believe that she has amnesia from whatever hit her head. Those bruising and the swelling in her brain had gone down enough to not be life threatening anymore. It is still a huge issue. As of right now, I don't believe that she can remember anything. She doesn't know her own name at the moment.” the doctor said as he looked at the man who is just staring at her. “Are there any tests that we can run to make sure that she's telling the truth? How do we honestly know that she can't remember anything? she could easily be here to sabotage something.” Benton said as he looked at her knowing that there was nothing in her eyes that showed any recognition of him or the facility. He was staring at her, and though he didn't wanna seem cold and calculating right now, he was too
Unfortunately for Benton, his housing compound and mountain base were being used by his sister and her friends, who were trying to get his attention. He was also dealing with the fact that he was so close even though he know he needed to take a break. He wasn't interested in anyone that his sister was going to bring over, and somehow she managed to convince him to allow her to throw a few dinner parties. At least while she was there. Then he had the mysterious stranger who was in the medical Bay who still was under watch, knowing that she could possibly be somebody there to infiltrate the lab. However, she still had not shown any sign that she was trying to do anything. She was either the most patient person on the planet, or she was somebody who had suffered a tragic accident. The trace analysis, was coming back later today, and he was going down to the lab to see what the results were, and this was the one time i
He walked into the main dining hall that had been decked out with fresh flowers and even probably close to 1000 candles. He had to wonder if his sisters thought that this would work. As if trying to set a mood that he wasn't in the mood to even remotely talk to anybody, let alone meet the person that he was supposed to stay with. This wasn't the way to do it. He took one look at everyone that was in the room waiting for him to join them before they started having dinner and knew that this night was going to be nothing more than a headache. At this point, he was looking forward to somebody trying to interrupt the night with some information. Even though he had specifically told everybody that he would be busy for the evening dealing with his mother and sisters and, of course, all the extra eligible females that were waiting to bat their eyes. They had all looked at him like he was nothing more than a giant piece of meat that had a
Benton walked briskly to the medical facility. It wasn't that far, but it was far enough where it would take him a few minutes to get there. As you walk down the hall, he could hear everything starting to get a little bit more pronounced. Something was going on, and he wasn't exactly sure what. Whatever, it sounded like it wasn't that good. He was absolutely sure that he wasn't going to enjoy having to deal with whatever he was walking into. One of the doctors was yelling, and some of the nurses as well. But he didn't know who they were yelling at, and it seemed as if it was getting louder as he was getting closer, but it wasn't because of the distance. It was because of whatever the situation was, the doctor absolutely adamant for somebody to get out of the area. Benton stopped for a minute and tried to piece together what he could already hear coming from the medical Bay. He thought it would probably be best if he took a moment to lis
It had been three months since they got married, and now it was time for Benton's birthday. He was turning 34, and he knew at that time that a few months ago, he would have never really put any stock into how old he was. Now he realized that he was ten years older than his wife. He also had one year to fulfill the clause that his father had left in the will. That didn't seem to be too much of a hardship for him, and he enjoyed trying to make sure that they fulfilled it. Kelly had made sure that everything was simple on his birthday for him. He didn't want to have a huge celebration. He just wanted to spend it with her. After all the work that they had done with the quantum diffuser and the different aspects of its building for different applications, this was going to be a relaxing weekend that she had planned for the two of them. They weren't even leaving the compound. They were just going to be spending it mostly in their private apartments. T
The day after the wedding, Benton had scheduled a news conference to discuss the quantum diffuser. He had also scheduled a little bit of a personal update. They were going to announce the wedding and the fact that they were happily married now. He was more excited about everything than he had been in his entire life. The more that they got settled into the compound together, the happier he was with everything that was going on. The news had broken with her name, considering how many people had been charged in the crime and how many other people needed to come forward to receive the money that they had donated. Benton had set up a fund that would pay everybody back because there was no telling where the money had gone since nobody had any in any of their accounts. He didn't want people to have to pay for being nice. All they had to do was prove that they had given money to that particular campaign on go fund me and they would receive the money-back no questions
“You may now kiss the bride.” was the only thing that Benton heard the entire time he was looking at Kelly. He knew that he had said his vows and that she had replied with her own. But that was the only thing that he could focus on. As soon as the officiant had said that, he bent down, and he gave her a very slow but not majorly graphic kiss. Cameras went wild, in everybody cheered for the two of them. “Welcome to the family chipmunk.” Penny sighed as she looked at Kelly for the first time, knowing that they had not been introduced before, but the small woman had been a part of every decision that her brother had made for her. “Chipmunk?” Kelly asked as she looked at a Penny. “It's just a cute family name that I don't even think Benton realizes why I call you that. It isn't the fact that you appeared out of the wilderness. I don't need to know the story. I have a feeling I already do, and if you need anyone to help you navigate t
That's when a new voice came from behind them. Benton hadn't even seen his older sister walk up through the arch of trees. “Mother, do be a dear and just sit down. Benton is finally happy, and he deserves this chance. He made his choice. And it's time for the family to support him instead of trying to get him to do what we want. His little chipmunk is the one that makes him this way. If he says that he's going to fulfill the clause, it doesn't really matter what happens to the rest of us. We should all be grateful that he was even willing to put himself on the line like that. However, this is his day. This is not the day for you to throw a holy fit in front of a bunch of strangers.” Penny stated very eloquently as she began to look around the area. She was slightly impressed with what everything had looked like. It wasn't like she had been to the area before, but she could see what had been done. “This is fitting for you, Benton. That you marry your little chipmunk an
The day was perfectly clear. There was not a cloud in sight, and there was nothing but blue skies and the warm rays of the sun beating down as they went to the area that she had chosen. There was an area that she could get dressed because she was adamant, he was not going to see her before the ceremony in the dress. The way that she looked at it was that she had already had it an extraordinarily large amount of bad luck that had turned to good luck. She didn't want to take any chances of anything else happening that could possibly ruin the day. When they got to the area, they split up, and Benton was already in his suit. He looked over the area and saw that everything was absolutely gorgeous. She had done so well with the help that he had provided her with the team that was able to do what she wanted to make this the perfect day for them. This was the day he never expected to come. He never expected that he would be the one getting married. Instead, he would b
The meeting with her father went basically the same way, even though the man seemed to show a little bit more remorse for the actions that he did. After the meeting, the detectives looked her over and saw that she had completely changed during the meetings. The woman that was composed that was in front of him right now was not the same woman who was in the interrogation room. It had all been an act on her part that she was so secure and happy in her life. She had made it a little more exaggerated to prove a point to her family. It was a good point to make. They understood why and so did the man that was standing next to her. She was happy, and that was easy to see. What had gone on in the interrogation rooms was her making sure that her family was going to know that she was well taken care of while they were the ones that tried to end her life. Benton took her back to the apartment and knew that she was probably going to have some kind of break. Though every t
They arrived at the police station holding hands, and the detectives saw the ring on her finger and gave them both congratulations. It didn't seem like anyone understood why she wanted to be there, and she wanted to confront both of her parents, but she wanted to do it separately was the fact that she wanted to make sure that they knew by trying to kill her, she had given her the opportunity to find everything that she had ever wanted in her life. That was Benton. He was the thing that she needed the most in her life, and she knew now that as well. It had nothing to do with the amount of money that he owned or the company or who he was. It was the last part partly. He was absolutely everything that she could have ever wanted for a partner in her life. He supported her in ways that nobody ever had before. “Your mother was extremely surprised that you requested to talk to her.” the detective said as he looked at Kelly. He was trying not to show his shock about t
Kelly looked at Denton two days before the day that they were going to get married, and he knew she had something to say. Though she wasn't exactly sure how to say it. It was written all over her face that there was something that she wanted to discuss, but she didn't exactly know-how. He started to get a little frightened because of everything that was going on because of the wedding that maybe she wasn't ready for. Maybe she was going to cancel it. Every bad thing that could possibly happen was going through his mind at the moment. There was really too much tension going on in the room, and he didn't know how to handle it. “Is there something that you want to discuss?” he finally came out and asked and looked at her knowing that she could come out of the left-field with something. And it would throw him completely out of his game. There were so many things that she could just end between them in there, and every bit of happiness that he had fo
Kelly soon found out that planning a wedding in a week was not exactly easy. Though she had a spot picked out in her mind making sure that it was open and that it was available was going to be difficult even though she knew that she could probably use the name and get the space if she needed to. She didn't want to be one of those types of people, and it wasn't in her, so when she found out that the area that she had wanted was already booked, she wasn't all that surprised. It was a beautiful place to have a wedding. Instead, she had put a little bit of money down that he had given her for the other couple to be able to have a few more things. She continued to look for a place, and then she found another one that was absolutely gorgeous, and it was outside. Everything was perfect for the vision that she had in her mind. And it was open. She immediately booked it and then let him know that they had the space available and where it was. He had already hired a com
