Chapter 009:

Alicia's POV.

“It’s hard to say this, but goodbye, Mom.” Hot tears trickled down my face as I stood close to my mother’s grave, watching the men I had hired to cover her corpse.

I wore all black, with black gloves signifying her death. My daughter, Elisa, stood right beside me, her eyes watching her grandmother being covered as well. It was a painful sight, the kind that brought nothing but hurt, sadness, and fear.

With the black umbrella in my grip, I shielded myself and my daughter from the cold rain, avoiding its touch on our skin. It was a rainy day, and I was certain it was meant to show that the moon goddess had accepted my mother’s body.

“Mommy?” Elisa turned to look at me, a worried expression on her face. “Isn’t Daddy coming to see Granny?” she asked, her tender voice echoing in the graveyard.

“No, honey…” I sniffled as I shook my head. “He wasn’t invited. Maybe next time.” I lied. I wasn’t sure what to say to her.

I had planned and attended the burial alone with my daughter
