ERA’S POV
I didn't get any sleep last night. With such a wheeze and strong cough, my father was rushed to the hospital. His pneumonia is worsening, and he is being treated as of this moment. It happened around one o'clock in the morning while I was sleeping on the sofa. It's certainly upsetting that I can't do anything.
"Look at Era, she's acting like a fool yet once again!"
I only offered Fina a small smile. I'm afraid I won't be able to depict my face in front of them. Ugh. I'm ugly, and I'm even more so.
"I'm just exhausted. I want to sleep."
"Have you reviewed Principles yet?" Isa's expression was determined to annoy me, and her tone was distinct from mine. Oh, my freaking god—
"Wait, we have a quiz right now?"
“Oh! Wow! She truly has no idea! Poor you!”
I'm such a moron for forgetting that! Also, I'm not sure about the quiz. To think about it, I'm the president of our block. Crad, Fina, and Isa just laugh at me. What the actual hell? What time is it?! I'm hoping our professor isn't here right now—
"Good morning, students."
WHAT IN THE WORLD?! Fina is teasing me even more with her smirk!
My front-row classmate distributed our quiz papers one by one. My first quiz had a score of ten out of twenty. Sixty percent is only two points away. That is the passing grade. And I didn't make it.
I'm sorry, Heavenly Father.
"One seat apart, please."
I sat at the back of the classroom, at the far end of the room. I can't copy some of their answers when they're too far away! Why do I have this nearsightedness bull crap?! It’s making my situation worse!
The question is on the projector, and it is up to you Lord to answer it. The battle here is simply one of stock knowledge.
"You're such an asshole, President! Why are you seventeen over twenty? That’s beyond sixty percent!”
Losers, my comeback is real. Crad's eyes narrowed as I laughed at them. They all failed, but those who did not study still passed. And that’s me!
"Did you use any spells, Era?"
"This is the person who you can't see reviewing but passes," Isa pointed out. Nice. You will perish as a result of envy. You’re such a magnificent, self. I hope this is how we always are.
"Where is your class representative?"
Fina pointed at me. And yes, I have surrendered myself. I went down to the platform to speak with our professor.
"Yes, Ma'am."
"Miss Ponciano, can you perhaps go to the faculty? Please see Sir Mikhail for the PowerPoint presentation of your next week's lesson. Just give it to me in the Allied MT building. On the third level."
Is there anything else I can do besides becoming an errand girl?
"All right, Ma'am," I say, "I'll give it to you once I have it."
"Thank you very much!" I just growled silently. Tsk.
I climbed back to the chair to retrieve my belongings. Seriously, I'm from MT faculty, so I'll be sent to AMTB? Are class representatives really slaves? Of course, I can't do anything, and I can't even complain because I'm only in my freshman year.
"Hey, could you save a seat for me? I have a few more things to do."
"Wow, you're now a messenger?" I just smiled at what Isa said. So annoying. It’s like they are stepping on me.
I went up to the fifth floor and knocked on the faculty room. This sh*tty building doesn't even have an elevator, yet they charge us a hefty tuition fee every semester. Heh!
When I knocked, someone opened the door. A tall, fair-skinned man with a thick brow, a pointed nose, and spectacles. A character typically found in a romance novel. But he has braces. Sir Mikhail Valderama.
We’ll, I have one thing to say—I won’t be falling in love with this stupid-looking guy.
"Are you Miss Ponciano?"
"Uh... Sir... Ma’am Weng has sent me for her slide presentation."
He grabbed my arm and pulled me into the faculty room, despite the fact that we both knew students were not permitted in there anyway. There was a sudden jolt as our skin touched, as I recall what the woman said on the toothpaste commercial. The warmth of his hand... I'm hooked for the time being. Sh*t.
"Do you just want me to hand it over to her? I'll also visit Allied—"
“I'll do it, Sir! Because I was the one Ma'am Sher asked me to? Hehe...”
He just let out a lopsided smile. I got hot suddenly. It was as if he was still holding my arm even though he was no longer. The heck were you thinking about, Era? Why are you behaving in this way?
“Then let’s go there. Together.”
Damn! I almost dropped my eyes from what he said. Who wouldn't be surprised?! The professor that everyone is obsessed with, will come with me?! Why does it seem unbelievable?!
“Miss Ponciano? Are you okay?”
"Y- Yes... I... I just remembered something."
It’s already happening. I'm getting nervous, all of a sudden. I'm not the type of student who talks to their instructors. That's why I always sit in the far corner of the classroom, hoping they won't notice me. I really don’t like being in the spotlight. But now he walks alongside me? Why are they staring at me like that?! Have I done something wrong?!
"Your next class is ten fifty, right?"
"Yes sir. Why?"
“It's only nine-thirty. I'm starving. Can you join me for breakfast?”
I unconsciously winced and my mouth let out a "Huh?" to him, which made him cackle. He's still raising his eyebrows and smiles at me. Is this really a professor?
There is no end to this, and I feel like the day is so long. We went to a fast-food resto. There weren't too many people yet, so we immediately lined up at the counter. Unlikely of behavior toward me, I feel like my block mate is just with me now.
“What do you want? I’ll treat you.” —better?
“Sir, I'll just buy with my money. It's embarrassing—”
“No, no, no. If I use your money, you’ll lose your allowance for a month.”
It's bothering me. Why did he make me sit at the free table while he ordered? Aah! My cheeks are getting hot! Am I going insane?!
My phone is ringing as Crad keeps calling me but I can't answer because he had already arrived with two trays. He knows how to handle a tray the same way the crews do. Wow. That surprised me.
“Here. The time is ticking out so I didn't ask you about this.”
“Sir! Why did you order so much?!”
“It’s alright. We can take these out anyway.”
He removed the plates from the tray. He spent a lot of money on this... it's making me shake my head in disbelief. He ordered everything on the menu. Damn, I'm salivating. It's been half a year since I last ate fast food.
“Here. Just eat. We still have time.”
Sir Mik gave me the plate with rice and chicken but he took it again just to remove the cover of the rice and shredded the chicken into smaller pieces. I blinked too much just from looking at him doing that for me.
“Thank you, Sir...” –and why did he shred the chicken?!
I ate quietly in front of Sir Mikhail, unable to look at him. I chewed carefully; it might be difficult for him to spread the news that he's eating with a goat. It's also embarrassing. This is the first time we had a closed conversation.
"I know you're wondering why I invited you for breakfast."
Can I ask him if he has a motive? That I can't say no to them because they are superior to us? Because I get terrified?
ERA'S POV“I suffocate when there are a lot of people. I personally would like to thank the designer of your classrooms because the student's area is a bit far from the instructor's platform.”Is he venting to me?! Come on, why me?! I'm just his student, right? This is something he should say to his colleagues, not to his mere student! Isn't it frustrating?“How ‘bout you? I notice you don’t belong to your group.”I stopped eating rice. That's right. Why does he know that? That's a cruel secret for me. Why does he seem to understand how I feel?“Sir? What prompted you to invite me? You can invite your co-faculties—"“Me as well. I don’t belong to the group.”His delivery was sluggish. Playing with food and such with his disappointed eyes. I still want to ask some questions and criticize his situation but I also seem to be the reason why he is like this."I'm sorry, I even mentioned that to you," I softly uttered.“No, it’s fine. Besides we’re on the same ship so we’re calling it quits
ERA’S POVI knocked on the door first before entering. At first, I only saw a lab coat hanging. But when I walked in, I saw Sir writing on his table. Ugh! Why do I keep running into him today?!“Miss Ponciano? Is your class finished? Let’s go—"Wow. Why is he in a hurry?“N- Not yet! I'm just looking for... Ma'am Can. She is not yet in the lab. She’s our professor for today.”“I think she is in a meeting today. I didn't tell you earlier, sorry. Just get your classmates’ signatures then you are free to go.”He handed me an attendance sheet. Perhaps he didn't intend to touch my hand but... there was still a startling jolt. Maybe the current in my body is just really strong. It's still early in the morning for this, Era.But why haven't the other people I've touched before had such a strong impact on me? Why only on him?“Just go to the parking lot. I’ll wait you there—"“Sir... are you really sure of what you are about to do? Aren’t you just going crazy or what? Because it's like punchi
ERA’S POV“D- Dad, this is Sir Mikhail. He is my professor. Is Mom here?”I let Sir in, while Dad just gaped looking at him. What's going on inside Dad's head? Hold on! Shouldn't that be the question I'm asking myself?! Why do I have my professor in our house?!I casually sat on the sofa while removing foot socks and shoes. Sir Mikhail just smiled politely as he sits across from me. And to our surprise, our dapple dachshund Tisoy hugged Sir, kissing him and gently wagging his tail. Wow. Tisoy, does he appear to be your owner?“W- What can we do for you, Sir? Did my Era do anything?”Dad handed him a glass of cold water. Mom was just leaning against the table. My parents began to exchange glances as Sir Mik drinks their offer because they were already thinking something. They're having a telepathic discussion. I exhaled a sigh. God, this is such a nuisance for me.“Is she being suspended, Sir? Or getting expelled?!”I let out a sigh as I locked my gaze on Mom. She's overreacting alread
ERA’S POV“So, rather than being angry with your professor, thank him instead."To be honest, that's not what I expected my parents to tell me. I just don't understand why it's like they're just giving me away like I'm a cat being strayed into a corner or being thrown in the trash. I can't imagine why they even seem to have turned their backs on me. When it is solely due to financial problems. I just can't believe it.I just sat quietly in the passenger’s seat. He was still eating a lollipop he had bought from our very own gossiper Aling Puring, listening to pop music, tapping his thigh to the beat with his hand. I try not to cry next to his presence, but my teardrops are rolling from down my cheeks. So, I just looked out the window.“I didn’t buy you, and they didn’t sell you to me. Stop contemplating things,” he comforted me, but his words were nonchalant. Will I be happy with his comfort? Because it sounded like it's out from the nostrils. We came to a halt in front of a fairly lar
ERA'S POV “Era, I don't care if you don’t want us to get closed with each other. I totally get your concern. And I know the responsibility you have is too heavy, but I think it would be best if you forget it now.” Forget? Why? Is it that easy to forget the problem? Is it easy to say to yourself: ‘Ah! Someone will carry my burden. Okay!' It’s not like that. "Because I will now be in charge of that responsibility for you." I was stunned by what I heard. I just stood by the pool, looking at him grinning like an idiot. I was just wondering why he is so nice to me and my family. What did I do to deserve such treatment from him? “What? Am I too handsome?” “Huh? You're already drunk, Sir. I will go up.” I did not look back at him to see if he was following me. No. he’s too comfortable with water. “Take a bath right away so you don't get a cold. I'll be back later,” he nonchalantly told me. I woke up at eight o'clock in the morning. I got a text on my cell phone— from Mom. ‘Get up ear
ERA'S POV I didn't sleep the whole trip. How come his voice is pleasant to hear? Why is that? Why does he have all of the characteristics of a blessed person? Why are my leadership abilities skewed? "Cause I've been aiming for Heaven above, but an angel ain't what I need..." Ugh. This is f*cking aggravating. “Era, hey. Wake up.” I was overwhelmed by the pat on the back. His hand is extremely warm, I want to get drowned at his touch. Especially now as he helps me sit up from lying down. "Turn off your aircon... it's cold..." "Have this soup first before you go back to sleep again." Huh? Am I sick? W- Wait a dam minute! Why is my dress different?! "M- My clothes... where are they?" “Ah. I changed your clothes. You were drenched in sweat last night. You almost had a convulsion.” W- What did he say?! He changed what I’m wearing?! “I didn't see anything. Why? Is there any I can… see?” I couldn't stop myself from hitting him. I’m thrilled with what he has done! Why didn’t he ask
MIKHAIL'S POV It was as if she had been thrown to the ground by a stone. She was startled. I knew I shouldn't have yelled at her, but I'm getting irritated with myself. Extremely stubborn. Her attitude has brought my blood to a boil. To relax, I simply close my eyes tightly. When it comes to this kid, my head hurts. "W- Why?" “Do as I say, okay? No buts!” This kid is making me mad. I can’t— I can’t think straight. I exhaled sharply. Damn it. Because I didn't have a class to attend afterward, I thought it would be a good idea to go to the convenience store and get her some snacks. I bought her a bottle of full-cream milk and a Monte Cristo sandwich. But the thing is, someone is talking to me and they are students like Era. Is this an ambush? "Brother, might I please have your phone number?" “Wow! He's so handsome, look!" Uhh… What am I supposed to do? I'm completely at a loss as to how to react in this situation! Is there anyone who can help me? "I'm sorry, but n- no." “Oh, m
ERA’S POV What do you think? Do you think it's better if I just drown him right here? I was cleaning his pool while it was still dirty, so there was no evidence in it while I was working. But hold on a sec. No one is going to pay me any longer. Let's just put that out of our minds. "Era!" Argh, that's so inconvenient! What is he doing standing in my way? Era, don't pay attention to him. Let's just leave him to rot. "Drink this milk first!" he screamed. No, you keep your mouth shut! It's no longer funny— "Drink it first." I was on the verge of falling into the pool! He's appeared at my side, believe it or not, like a f*cking mushroom! "Why are you acting in this manner, Sir?! Tsk! It's just not funny any longer!" "Although you may be in pain, you should refrain from taking any medication if you are still capable of managing yourself. Warm milk and water would probably be sufficient in their place." He took my pole of pool skimmer net and replaced it with a glass of lukewarm mi
ERA’S POV"Sir... are we dating right now?""Yeah. I'm doing it because I want to.""Do you really like me?"I'm well aware that my face is already too thick to say that to him. Let's just go ahead and do it this way. It's fine to engage in filthy behavior. That was a nickname I used to go by. Not everything can be learned solely within the four walls of your home. There is still a school and friends to keep you company.I don't have any real friends.“Yeah! From the time we were children, I have liked you.""Perhaps it's just plain lust, Sir—"“Mind you, Era. You are no longer a minor. We can get married now,” he pointed out to me the beer he was drinking. Tsk. He obviously likes the intestines."Getting married?! But I don't like you in the least. In addition, I had no idea whether or not we were childhood friends. How am I supposed to know if that is true?""Era, we have been engaged for a very long time. When you found out that we were moving because I was going to the United Sta
ERA’S POV “Sir! Dinner is on the table!" I could hear the crackle as it made its way into the kitchen. W- Why is he dressed like he's going out? "After we finish eating, let's go see a movie." “Sir? Please have mercy on me! I have a class scheduled for tomorrow—" "I have seen you don't have any classes tomorrow. Because they are attending a seminar, not all of your professors will be available tomorrow. And anyway, there are only two subjects. Watch to see if they text you later on." Oh, my goodness. He's already seen my schedule, so he should put his in the refrigerator as well, right? What is it about this situation that is so unfair? My phone buzzed, and I believe he was aware of it because he points it at me. Shoot. My two professors have already texted me about their seminar. Of course, he insisted on my dressing up. And the bastard was just sitting in the living room, watching television, waiting for me. "Sir, we can watch television in this room—" “No. "I'd like to set
ERA'S POV "Are you upset with me?" A brisk exchange of words. He wants that, and that is exactly what we will provide him. It's fine if he doesn't respond right away. I'm powerless to do anything. But f*ck this, what is it about him that is so mysterious? It took him a few seconds to regain his speech. The expression on his face suggested that he was still considering his next words before saying them. It appears that he will find a way to 'play it safe' in order to avoid accusations. "Hey, Sir. I don't want to shed any more tears. I'm getting a little tired. As a result of you, I'm getting tired of academics, I'm getting tired of this place, and I'm getting tired mentally as well. Sir, I'm not sure where I should put myself right now. You hugged me yesterday because you were trying to keep me calm, and now you appear to be punishing me because you didn't like what I did to you a little earlier. So, what exactly is it, Sir?" He was unable to respond. He seemed surprised by what
ERA'S POV I swung my body away from him. For such a petty reason, I don't want him to witness me crying in front of him. But when he hugged me, I couldn't help but stop. I sobbed even harder as a result of what he did. “I’m sorry, okay? I was just stressed for the past few days because of work. It won’t happen again, okay?" He quickly pulled both of my arms away from me and ordered me to face him. He was already beaming a friendly smile at me. He wiped away the tears from my eyes. I couldn't help but cry in front of him even after all this time. “Don't cry anymore, please? You’re making me worry... ” "I'm going to go to bed." Ugh. Traitor! "All right, guys, here it is. The evacuated needle is available in a variety of colors. Green represents 21 gauge, black represents 22, and blue represents 23 gauge. Because Sir's vein is large and prominent, I will use the number 21 as a starting point. Accordingly, first, remove the rubber part, and then screw it onto the holder to complete
ERA'S POV "M- Ma'am... will I be able to teach my batchmates? Is it alright Does everything seem to be okay?" (This does not imply that you will be a teacher. Since we have finished with the needle and syringe, we will only talk about the evacuated tube system for a short time. You will only be instructing on the procedure. Do you think it's okay with you?) I don't have the ability to veto anything. Tss. It's pointless to refuse their advances. "All right, Ma'am. I'll just send a text message to our section's liaison officer about Mam Can. Can you tell me where the phlebotomy room is?" (I'm fifteen minutes late for class in MT207. Easily take my venipuncture kit from its storage location. You are aware of the passcode, aren't you?) "Yes, Mam," I say." have a lab coat with me." (All right, Miss Ponciano. You may proceed. Thank you so much!) As I dashed to the locker next to the stockroom, I quickly dialed Franz's number. I even took a peek at the lab across the hall, which
ERA'S POV "One seat apart." Oh, my God! He's not my professor now, is he? One seat apart?! How is that possible? What?! Do we have a quiz for him?! Why did I forget that he is my professor this morning and that he will be the one to administer the quiz?! “Sir? Is it true that we'll be having a quiz? Hasn't the discussion come to a close yet—" “Yeah. Our discussion will resume after the quiz is done. For the time being, the quiz will consist of thirty items." I just let out a sigh. It's a shame. What is it about you that makes you act this way? Why are you putting me through this? I had a sour expression on my face throughout the entire quiz. How come he only wrote projections for the Haworth Observatory? Then figure out what kind of monosaccharide it is, because he hasn't even discussed it yet! This is f*cking annoying! "Put down your pens and stop writing. Please pass your papers forward." And then there was the idiot, who was still smiling as he examined each piece of our p
