The birthday party

Tears began to fall out of my eyes as I began cleaning the scent of the wine that had poured on my dress in the bathroom alone.I cried all of my eyes out. “Why would Leonard see me fall to the ground and did not even come and help out? Was he ashamed of me or what?”

I said out loud looking at the mirror. My makeup was almost wiped up with my tears.

“Or could Leonard be in love with Vivian?”I took the tissue and started wiping off the stains out of my dress. I could hear some footsteps and quickly took a tissue and wiped off my tears.

As the bathroom door opened, to my surprise, it was Vivian.” Hi” I greeted her as she entered the bathroom shockingly.

” Hello” she replied me. I hoped she did not notice that I was crying. I lowered my face and continued cleaning my dress so she did not notice anything.

She came standing beside me looking at herself in the mirror as she adjusted her make-up. I wondered what she was trying to fix with all of her looks which could seduce an 85-year-old man.”I guess you must be Cherry Sylvester or Should I say Cherry Alphonso?”

After she had asked me, I looked and replied with a smile. “Yes, I am.”I guess I was quite known as the wife of a CEO Billionaire.

“As you know, I am Vivian Gallante. I am a very successful model.” I could feel the pride in the way she was speaking.

“I and Leonard used to f**k. We were lovers”Her condescending tone and expression had said the kind of person she was.

“We used to be lovers. I was the only woman he had ever loved. We just had a little disagreement and then we broke up.”The smile on my face dropped after she had said that.

“I did not know that he would date someone as low as you?” she laughed after saying those mean words.

” I could see the look on his face when he saw me face-to-face after eight years. By the way, he sent me a romantic message over two months ago. I guess he could not believe his eyes after seeing me for the past two months that we have been dating.”I could not endure what she had been saying.

“What? What do you mean by that? Leonard would never do something like that. He really loves me and he would never do anything that would hurt me.”I gave her a glaring look.

She gave me a devilish smile and told me; “I see you are quite naive . I guess you do not know why Leonard married you right? He just sees you as a stand-in for my place.”I gave her an angry stare.

“I guess I would be taking my leave now.Toddles honey” After she had left the bedroom, I looked into the mirror with so much anger on my face. I squeezed my fingers into a fist like I was about to hit the mirror.

So this was why Leonard was asking for a divorce because of tramp. Leonard has been cheating on me over this while. I can’t believe what was happening to me. Leonard would regret what he is doing.

I would not fill those divorce paper. I would stand still and not allow that Urchin a chance. I do not care if I was being disrespected but all I knew was that I had to protect my name and status. I did not have any tangible source of income.

Since the time I had accepted the contract marriage, I had not gotten any job. I depended on Leonard for everything I wanted. I trusted him with my whole life and decided to be a full housewife.His mother would be the only that could still help his marriage to stand still.

I cleaned my tears and left the bathroom back to party. Everyone was merry, all smiling and laughing. I just had to go to the table of people we were sitting with before my dress had gotten stained.

“What do you think about this jewelry, Cherry?”Cordelia and the other women were in some fashion discussions but my mind had gone far.

I looked at her with an ignorant face;”Umm-mm, what!”

“Are you fine? It seems like your mind is far gone.Your face looks pale.”She asked me with a concerned face.

“I am fine . I am just tired.”I was feeling tired and weak at that moment. Not only was I tired, but I could also feel a sharp pain that was propounding in my abdomen.

As I was still sitting where the other ladies were, I could not control the way I was feeling. I wanted to go away from the vicinity I was because it seemed like I was about to collapse anytime from that moment so as to not cause any scene. My sight was already becoming unstable and blurry as I took a step to leave where I lost balance and collapsed.

“Cherry!Cherry!Cherry!”, Cordelia called my name after being absent-minded before she tapped me.

AT THE HOSPITAL

I woke up to see myself on a bed in a place I did not know. I turned to my right and saw a drip that was already injected into my body.

”Thank goodness, you are awake.”Cordelia was excited after she had seen that I had woken up.

“Where am I and what happened to me?” I was looking surprised.

”You are in hospital, darling. You collapsed at the party and we had to quickly rush you to the hospital.”I tried to sit up on the bed trying to resist the migraine I had.

”Argh!My head.” I placed my right hand on the path of my head that had ached me.

“Don’t stress yourself, honey.”She helped me to sit up properly on the bed.

“Where is my husband? Does he know I am at the hospital?” I asked with a pale face.

“Yes,he knows. But he has not been around. I guess he went for an appointment with Vivian Gallante, the model that came yesterday.”

“How many days have I been here ?”

“Since yesterday.”

“But why would Leonard know that I am in the hospital and not come check up on me?” I thought within myself.

“Please can you get me my phone?”

“Urgh, it’s right here”, she brought out my phone . Her phone beeped out.

“Please excuse me.”I also tried calling Leonard and luckily he picked.

“Hello, Leonard.” he cut the phone call after he had heard my voice. Well, since he did not pick my call, I called my driver to come and pick me. Cordelia entered the room after she had finished working.

“That was one of my workers that called, sorry I took long. So how are you feeling now.”She finds a sit and seats.

“I am fine, thank you.”The doctor entered the room.

“Good morning, Mrs Alphonso.”He greeted me with a smile and I greeted him back.

“So how are you feeling now.” He gave me a long smile.

“I feel quite alright.”He just kept on smiling and I was feeling a certain kind of way.

“Congratulations,Mrs Alphonso. You are four weeks pregnant.”

“Congratulations, Cherry. I am so happy for you. Leonard would be so excited to hear this news.”Cordelia must be so excited for me. At first, I did not know how to feel maybe happy or sad.

I placed my hands on my belly and gave the two a solemn face. Should I be happy because I would be able to use the pregnancy to stop Leonard from getting a divorce? I also thought I was sad because of how I felt.

There was no use in being sad because I have still got a solid ground in using the pregnancy to keep him. I was so happy that I was going to be a mother. I guess the universe is defending my battle.

“Thank you so much, Doctor.”Smiles began to appear on my face.

“But Mrs Alphonso, I would have to advise you to do anything that would stress you. Do not over-stress yourself and put too much thought on your mind especially when it is your first trimester, to not lose the baby. The reason you collapsed was because of stress.Please strictly adhere to these instructions, ma’am. And do not forget to register for ante-natal before you leave.”

“Thank you, doctor, I appreciate your advice and I will stick to it.”

I would have almost lost my pregnancy from the problems and stress that Leonard had been giving me over the past couple of days. I wanted to see who would win the battle between me and that Vivian lady, that slut that wants to snatch my husband. I was not feeling comfortable because I didn’t know if Leonard would be excited about pregnancy but I didn’t care.

I would still retain my position as the wife of the CEO of Alphonso Construction Company and mother to the future heir of Alphonso construction. Leonard’s mother would love me more and will still support me even if Leonard is still reluctant to get a divorce.

I thought back on what that slut did to me the other time in the bathroom.She said I was a replacement?Could I have been a replacement for Leonard? But why would he initiate a serious relationship with me? Was it to while away time? Cordelia had already left me in the ward and I was waiting for my driver to take me home.
