"I couldn't run away... Wherever I am he was always watching over me... An admirer who never leaves a trace and killed every man who fell in love with me... HE was a true nightmare that I wished to kill... Yet he remained unknown..." - Ash
Introduction
ASH' PERSPECTIVE
"You killed him! You killed him!" shrieked an old woman in a long brown dress and a white top blouse as she pointed at me, she was in pain together with madness, her eyes were ruddy and she trembled as she scampered closer to me, the moment she saw me. She gripped her fist, then grabbed the neck part of my shirt like a man.
Her hand aerodynamically shifted in the air quickly and the sound of her slap was ringing in my ears that I could barely overhear her words but her high-pitched voice reached inside my ears- It has full of agony.
"You killed her," she shouted non-stop and spat on my face... "Murderer," she sobbed and kept hitting me in all force.
"How dare you show up in here..." a pause, "You..." she glared at me as if she was cursing me to go to hell immediately, "You.. mur-murderer!" Her choppy voice was stinging the edge of my eyes, I couldn't bear to watch her struggling with her breathing, I wanted to tell her to stop, not the beating but the strength she was letting out because she might collapse, but as if I had the right.
I accepted every slap that landed on my face that night, I was firmly culpable, I conceded that reality.
I cried and I had zero words to say nor affirmed myself from innocence. She was right, I killed Dravo Mendez, his son, and... tears were streaming down from my sights... I killed Dravo, my beloved boyfriend.
I cried and everybody at Dravo's funeral looked at me like I was a gross woman, their eyes were killing me, they were sharp and ready to stab me in any second, mentally.
Based on their eyes, I could create a dialogue that running in their mind.
"How can she still had the guts to come here?"
"Is she's not ashamed of herself?"
"Poor mother, how I wish she was the one that died!"
If only they knew...
"Mom, what are you doing?" she shouted and stood in front of me, she was covering me.
"Amanda, get out of the way," Dravo's mother exclaimed. "This is all ridiculous, mom! It's not her fault," said Amanda to her, trying to defend me.
"How dare you talk back to me, Amanda. Your brother is dead, and..." she moaned out loud, " And she is the reason!" she stared at me in the eyes.
Amanda got mad, "But she is innocent, mom. Please, don't make a fuss," she shouted back.
"Stop it, Amanda, she was the reason why your brother..." She paused when Amanda didn't stop to talk back.
"Mom, I said she is innocent, you can't accuse her just like that! We knew what really happened," she shouted on her face and her mother slapped her without second thoughts. And I felt sorry, I should have not come.
"She's a murderer, Amanda," she was shivering, I could feel that it was not her intention to slap her daughter, she frowned when she glanced at Amanda who was rubbing her face and then walked out. It was an unforgettable memory of mine. My beloved Dravo died, and I was the reason.
Amanda grabbed me out of that place.
"You okay?" I asked Amanda, and she nodded. "I am. I'm sorry for what my mother did," she apologized and I hugged her. "I'm sorry for what happened," I whispered.
"You better go home," she said but I insisted, "No, how can I leave without seeing my boyfriend's face?" I asked and she sympathized me. "Okay, fine. But stay closer to me," she said and held my hands back inside their house.
"Stay here with me, I will protect you," she said. I was lucky to have Amanda with me, she was my best friend and the reason why I met his brother, Dravo.
***********
Everyone was looking at me as I went near Dravo.
"I'm so...sorry. I di-didn't want a-anything of this to...to happen," I sobbed as I looked over his dead body. His face was covered by a white-thing type of silk-towels. His face was badly damaged that was why they didn't want to show it. His eyes, nose, and lips were all gone, it was only a flat figure of his head... no skull and no brains, just skin that was flattened by a big solid thing, which police officers couldn't explain to us. The killer went unknown, he always committed a perfect crime. No trace of him could be found, nothing at all.
He was unknown, yet, I knew who killed my boyfriend, that anonymous guy, and he just sent me a letter after Dravo's funeral.
On the letter was a note saying:
"Dear Ash,
I told you no one could ever love you more than I did. No man could touch you except me. No one could marry you except me... I was the only one who can smell you, who can make you happy and I am the only one who can love you more than anything in this world, only I, Ash. ONLY ME!
Whoever falls in love with you, nor touches you... Remember they will all die, trust me when I say they would.
I love you."
💋
Just reading his letter made me shudder. The letter has a kiss marked at the end of his letter as his signature. We tried to trace that mark but he was smart, it was unidentified, I wonder how did he do that?
That was not the first threatening love letter I had ever read. I didn't know him, we thought it was only a man who wanted to play around with me, a crazy game that I never imagined was true.
Dravo and his family were the only ones who knew it since I didn't have any family, I only escaped from the orphanage when I was ten and lived my life alone. And Amanda was the one who helped me, she secretly let me stay in their storage house that was not far away from their house. She kept and gave me food for two years. I couldn't even imagine how she managed to steal food for me, let me stay secretly, and hid everything about me from her family for such a long time.
After two years, I found myself a job, it was illegal because I was only 12, but I only stayed in the kitchen and washing the dishes, and that was how I survived.
Amanda introduced me to her family when I was 16 years old, and there I met Dravo, it only took 3 days after the meeting and we became partners at a very young age. And when I turned 17, I started to receive these letters saying I should break up with my boyfriend or he would kill my Dravo. He also always sending me gifts.
Of course, Dravo's mother was afraid, but we continued our relationship and this happened... After a year, he killed him. That was the reason why his mother blamed me, because the nameless man who kept sending me love letters, chocolates, and flowers was the person who killed my boyfriend.
I didn't know his face nor his name. He never wrote them on his letters, he only put his kiss marks. Even the persons who delivered it didn't know where it came from, according to them, they just saw it in their office when they opened it in the morning, they had no idea how did the man came inside and left it. They also couldn't see him on the CCTV, liked it was hacked every time he came around to left his gift for me. The police investigated for months but found no evidence, and fool they were, the case was closed after 3 months, they said that my boyfriend's death and the threatening letter might be a coincidence. A gang might be gotten interested in him and killed him. And in the end, my boyfriend's death didn't get any justice despite everything that happened, and the fight we battled for the case.
"This is how cruel our world is... having a death with no justice and a murderer who can freely roam around."
"I miss you," I whispered as I put the flower and our picture together, to his grave. He was the first and last person I loved, and I never thought of being in a relationship again because, in the end, that man will only kill him, once he knew. He was watching me, I don't know how, but I knew that he was close to me, he could trace every step I make and every inch of my breathe.
Chapter 1It's been 3 months when Dravo died and my emotion was mutual. Only Amanda, his sister, was the only one who always visited me, Camille and the others were busy with their studies while I? I couldn't stop disparaging myself and no police could ever help me, no rescue at all. I was dying daily from the past that was buried in my heart of hearts."Where are you?" I texted Amanda, she replied, " I'll be there in an hour.""Could you come earlier than that?" I asked but she said she was doing something important.Everyone was excited about their entrance exam in College for next year, they seemed forgotten everything that happened to Dravo, so easily. But I...I never left this place, my room. I never went out since Dravo died. I didn't go to my work nor to my class, I withdrew.Tears began to sting in the edge of my eyes again, the injury I had was the same from Dravo's funeral, it n
Chapter 2Amanda was walking beside me when we passed through the corridors."Four months, Ash, four months," I sighed when I decided to go back to school. I felt like I never been here for decades, thanks to Amanda who enlighten and encouraged me to go back and left that prison of mine. But then when we were walking in the hallways, I discovered that all eyes were on me, I noticed it since I entered the school, but at first, I thought I was maybe imagining things that all of the kids, parents, teachers, and classmates, all of them were strangely glancing at me, but they were actually staring at me... Why? I thought... I hunched down my head when I came to realization that they were thinking something about me. And it wounds my heart when they were avoiding me like..."Am I a kind of some virus?" I thought and I was trembling, confused, and in pain. But I kept holding on the tears that were stinging in the corner of my e
Chapter 3I was afraid when I wakened to found out that I was lashed to the chair. My hands were on my back, hardly tied up while my feet were tied on the seat's poles."What's going on?" I thought, but I was perplexed as I noticed that I was inside my room. Then a minute later I could hear a voice coming from the outside, there were too many voices, "Who are they?"... I wanted to shout for help but there was something in my mouth. I was sweating as I tried to moved and make a noise, but I stopped and shrieked... whoever did this was smart, he even tied the chair to my bed, making it secure, making it sure I won't make any sounds, making sure that I wouldn't do anything that not appropriate to his likings. " Who are you?" I thought."Is it that man?" I thought then I started to tremble, my eyes expanded and I couldn't breathe normally."Come on, Ash, re
Chapter 4Time passes by, and I got used to this world I lived in, I just went with the flow, rather than striving hard enough to give my best effort over and over again just to amend or control the situation nor to make it back to normal. I strived too much but I gave up because nothing rewrote what was before my eyes despite of all the effort I did, I was still an object of aversion to all of them, and I didn't want to care anymore about what they mumble behind me, I didn't care about rebuilding their thoughts anymore, because the more you care the more you get hurt, yet things were becoming more and more worst than ever ... than I ever imagined."Miss, Ash, I'm sorry but we suggest you to move to another school," Mrs. Akitson said, our school principal, as I sat down on the stool in front of her desk. I almost lost my mind when she told me that... 'Why? What did I do enough to suffer
Chapter 5"Hi, how are you can you see me? Can you hear me?" I whispered as I glanced at his grave. Wishing I was the one who was sleeping peacefully down there and not him."It suits me better down there, I'm all mess up, Dravo, wish nothing of this happened," I cried as I thought back to how I found Dravo's dead body in my apartment.I was almost finished with my chore from my part-time job when he called me, saying he would pick me up and he has something to tell me, he got a copy of my apartment's key so I told him to just wait for me there and don't bother to pick me up, I could go home alone, and so he did, he was an obedient boyfriend that's why I fell in love with him even more.Well, the moment I reached home, the door wasn't like but the light was off, which was dubious for me, but I didn't bother to overreact, I thought that he may be just wanted to surprise me, (that was foolish thoughts of mine) I wa
Chapter 6***Ding dong***"Who is it?" I yelled when I heard the doorbell ringing, I got, messy hair, exhausted and my head was in pain, I ended up falling asleep last night while crying. The ringing stopped before I could open the door, and when I peeked in the peek-whole there was no one outside, just a deserted street. I unlocked the door and stepped outside to looked who it was then, something nudged into my foot and when I looked down at it I trembled instantly. It was another present from that man again, I wonder why did the delivery man didn't gave it to me personally, didn't he need my signature for proof that the delivery was received?Nonetheless, I was standing for a few minutes, I didn't want to get the gift, I was about to throw them out to the trash can near the road, but then something caught my attention, there was an envelope inside the bouq
Chapter 7Police were having a gawked at the letter I submitted to them, and I was here sitting on the bench seat, waiting for what they think about it, but what made them stay inside that closed door for such a long time, it was a piece of pretty strong evidence, and I could finally find justice for Dravo.I was impatient that I craved to go inside that room, then suddenly, one of the officers went outside and I hurried to ask him, but he said that we need to wait to their private investigator and I was like what the heck? Did they spend too much time inside that room just to say this to me?I chuckled, "Are you kidding me?" I glared at him and he just stared at me, it's annoying when they were giving me an empty answer.I couldn't wait about it anymore, I almost made a fuss when someone came in from the entrance which disturbs my boiling blood.I turned around...He was wearing a plain V-neck white shirt tucked in bl
Chapter 8 Kenneth's Perspective I was out for investigation and I also went to asked the medicine forensic expert who analyzed Camille's body, but there were no fingerprints in every part of her body, no finger pattern found on her things nor clothes either. And what strange was, there was also no mark of strangulation from the killer or any possible sign that the victim may be fought back to defend herself, which I wonder why? A person would always fight back when someone is attacking him or her, but that victim, they found no marks from her, knowing that the stabs were in the front part of her body; which only means that her killer was facing her, so she could actually fight at least a little, not unless she knows her! I massaged my forehead in too much frustration. "Mr. Sheldon are you okay?" asked Sir Kevin, one of the police on our site. I leaned my back against the chair and a long, deep sigh
Chapter 14"These are your two cappuccino with additional syrup shot, one toasted sandwich, and one order of grilled sandwich. Hope you enjoy your snack, ma'am, sir,"said the woman whose hair was on a bun, smiling at us as she put down our orders. I glanced at her, and my eyes rolled down on her nameplate, it was a weird name for me, though my name also sounds like a dude's name but at least mine could also fit for girls..."Nice name you have there, Richard," Mr. Kenneth whispered and the woman chuckled. "So he also notices her nameplate?" I thought. The woman smiled and answered, "Oh, my name is not Richard, actually, hmmm..." she coughed, "I'm new here, and I'm just using my trainer's nameplate, temporarily," she added."Now it does makes sense."Mr. Kenneth chuckled and actually, I never thought of having a snack with this guy. But I couldn't refuse when he invited me earl
Chapter 13When Amanda gain her consciousness, I hurried to investigate, but of course, I made sure she was able to talk, I know it was traumatizing. I was her before I became a private investigator, I had the same experience as her. Survival isn't easy, one wrong decision and turns you are going to the road of hell. Glad she survived. As I opened her door, she was sitting on her bed.Her head turned at me, and I smiled with worries in my eyes, "How are you?" I asked softly, and she glanced at my face, she was pretty."Who are you? Where is Ash?" she raised a question. It's funny that she asked Ash first instead of her mom. I looked at her, "Your mom just went to her work," I replied. "You didn't reply to my question," she said and lifted her one brow as she sharpened her eyes at me. She was different, haha, she has a lot of strength in her voice, and what's that fierce?I honestly admit, t
Chapter 12I kept following the man, but he was too fast, but I won't give up even if my feet go numb and tired, I won't even care if my feet bleed. I would never let him go away, I won't let him kill innocent people anymore, never... never.I glued my eyes at him and kept chasing him."Sh*t," I uttered when I slipped on the ground. I was not being careful. I hurriedly stood up and I saw him entered a narrow street and I followed after him, but I stopped when there were two directions in front of me, left or right? The place was dark that I could barely see anything but a beam of lights from afar.I couldn't decide which way I should go, which way did he run through? What if I went in the wrong direction? I might lose him."Sh*t, Kenneth! You can't let him go!""Ahhh!" I shouted as I kicked the garbage on the floor when I heard a man groaned. I paused...I chuckled and looked at the garbag
Chapter 11"Dear God, for our beloved Patricia, grant to her eternal rest. Let light perpetual shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.""And to the people that Patricia left behind in this world remember, that God is with us, as he says... 'Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction wit
Chapter 10One normal day, everything was always the same. People were busy with their own life without even noticing that many people were losing their breaths one by one around the globe. Well, that what living is... Despite all the things that happened, after a few days or months, we will continue tomorrow as if nothing happened. We will go back to where we are used to be.How I wish I could stop all of those criminals, I wanted to hold them in my hands, choke them until they no longer live, but with the power of the law, criminals only suffer a lifetime of inprisonment when they had the right to die. But with the power of money or riches, some criminals would never face both things. Unfair humanity, right?Well, let's go back to where we were... I was on my way to the office when I saw people huddled in one spot, I was curious what happened, there might be another street performance back there. I was about to ignore it because
Chapter 9"Hey, Ash, you can do it," Amanda texted, and I wasn't sure but I was used to be being with her in school. Well, I transferred into a new school and thanks to that private investigator who made the case privately. I also found a new part-time job, lucky me.I started from the scratch but somehow in my brain and heart, I wasn't still happy because I knew he was just around me, that he was somewhere near me."...Nice to meet you all, again, I'm Ash Sharen..." that was the last part of my speech when I introduced myself to these new people that I would encounter in the future. All eyes were on me, while the principal let me sat on the back, fifth row, second in line. The principal went out already and I sat peacefully on my seat, when the man in front of my table turned his chair to face me.I widened my eyes in surprised, then he scanned my face, and then wink."What is he trying to do?
