Jing Yue stared deeply at the woman for a very long time. He had long heard of this strange woman during university, and how she piqued many students' curiosity during her freshman years with the peculiar things that she had done out of the blue. Coincidentally, she had been his junior of three years during his studies there, and he had also encountered her a few times in the university library. Brushing past her in the library had also resulted in him having the impression she wasn't an ordinary woman like the others, but at that time, there had been no suitable chance for him to get to know her then. Eventually he graduated from the university in interior design, and later crossed paths with her during a conference where she was assisting another player in the architectural world. He learned that she was an assistant to the eccentric architect Jack Shi.
The Architectural and Interior Design Conference went on for about five days. They had first made contact when they were both at the snacks' area of the hall in the hotel where the conference was held. He was holding a cup of cappuccino, and she just had a simple tea. He had introduced herself, and observed how her eyes brightened up excitedly as she mentioned how she had heard of him back during her freshman years in university. He possessed a cold demeanour, but he liked how her lips moved and how she fidgeted with strands of her long straight hair as she spoke. At that juncture, Jing Yue was willing to make an exception for her, and she would be the only woman who had access to his heart, all because he felt some familiarity with her, and later, when he found her, motionless and covered with blood at the roadside, he had a vision of himself clutching the lifeless body of a woman, obviously someone crucial to him.
"Xin Ran! Why?" he saw himself shout in his memory.
Her lips did not move, and there had been no answer.
It had been on the final day of the conference when the accident had occurred. He was on the way to the conference and had taken the exact road where she had fallen, and at that time, he knew what he had to do in order to save her life. His heart had ached tremendously when he had seen her body. He had never experienced this feeling in all his life.
He had called her Xin Ran in his memory, and yet, she was Tang Ying Xue!
After that, he had started dreaming about Xin Ran and how he appeared to be acquainted with her, and saw how he pushed her away when she confessed her feelings for him, and his heart ached for 'Xin Ran' every time, but yet, he kept pushing her away!
Surprisingly, this woman resembled Xin Ran so closely, and with every feature of hers, even the way she walked, definitely pointed out that she was Xin Ran, and the resemblance had been so uncanny! But the woman was Tang Ying Xue, not Xin Ran!
Why had he called out Xin Ran's name in his memory, and how did the events in his dreams come about? He had even searched every possible resource on the internet on a feasible explanation for this phenomenon, but his efforts were futile. The searches just pointed out to 'Rapid Eye Movement Sleep', and was highly suggestive that he had just imagined everything in his dreams by re-using images from his memory subconsciously, and this had made sense considering he had seen her in university before in the past!
But he had been yearning for her, in a way he had never known before. How could it be that he had known Ying Xue, as Xin Ran, but he had no memories of such a past with her, until the accident?
He cleared his throat and explained, "We were both heading to the conference at Bayview Hotel."
She shook her head. "I don't remember anything at all. The doctor mentioned I have amnesia."
A frown spread across his charming face. "You don't remember?"
They had shared a conversation about their choices of drinks during their first meeting.
"Miss, I find it rather surprising you chose chamomile."
"What is it that people find appealing about coffees?" She cast him a sweet smile, and he inched closer to her, pressing her slightly against the wall with his taller body, "It's just that I feel like having something heavier for a boost in caffeine this morning, but I am also fond of the lighter drinks." She felt him breathe up her neck, and his masculine charm aroused her. Her heart was beating so hard that he could feel it.
Then he promptly released her, and they resumed their discussion. She revealed that she had come across a study that one's choice of beverages told a lot about his or her personality, and he inquired with an icy smile, "What if I liked coffee yesterday, and today, I decide that I like tea?"
She was speechless, but just smiled sheepishly at his question. Not long after, she heard someone greet him, and she excused herself to return to her seat.
He was dismayed that she no longer remembered him. He yearned to know her better, and now that she had amnesia, she wouldn't even recall their first meeting. But still, he was determined to make her recall the short memories that they had created together following their first meeting, and he would persevere to achieve that.
He had even taken her to dinner on the third day of the conference, when her car had failed to start and was found to be overheated! He had charmingly enticed her to accept the date, with the pretext that it was fate that brought them together!
For her to have nil memories of all their encounters, he perceived it hard to believe.
"Mr. Jing, I wish to remember my past," she said. "Could you help me?"
He contemplated her request for a few minutes before saying to her, "How do you want me to help you regain your memories?"
"I am willing to try anything and everything," she said softly. "I really want...to remember."
He utilized all his strength to contain himself from taking her in a huge bear hug, and maintained his composure, "If you wish to remember, then that can likely be done. I will do what I can to help you."
She just smiled pleasantly. "Thank you, Mr. Jing."
He smiled back icily at her, but in his heart, he was relieved.
"You were fortunate that you didn't suffer a severe concussion to the head," Jing Yue said in his typical icy tone as they took a stroll outside the hospital ward. As she was weak, she was seated in a wheelchair while Jing Yue meticulously carted her around the park situated in the vicinity of the ward. Surprisingly, she had been one of the parties involved in a serious car accident - but her damage wasn't that serious considering the other parties had died. She was the sole survivor, and he speculated that the trauma of seeing so many deaths around her had caused her to be significantly affected, and hence, she was suffering a post-traumatic loss of memory. On t
When she woke up again after taking the painkillers from the nurse, it was already four in the afternoon. Jing Yue hadn't turned up today, and the visiting hours of the ward were already over for the daytime. It wouldn't be until five-thirty in the evening until the hospital ward would open up to allow visitors again. She heard a buzz from her phone and realized there was a notification from HeyApp. Someone by the alias 'A Marvel' had sent her a message. Jing Yue nonchalantly looked on at the patient with her hair in an adorable mess. "Good evening, Miss Tang. Do you remember anything yet?"Xin Ran shook her head. "No, nothing."
He coaxed her calmly and pulled her closer to him to soothe her pain, and after a few minutes, she felt herself drifting into a deep slumber. To her astonishment, instead of merely falling asleep, her consciousness was fading away.Sheappeared to be entering an unusual area, seemingly in another plane of existence.
Before renewing her contract with her employers, Janny Xu had returned to her secluded home town for two weeks to visit her aged parents, having missed them so much after spending several years in a strange city far from home. She had barely resumed work for a week when gossip in the office about her teammate's probable accident had somehow reached her ears. Up till now, nobody had bothered to find out what happened to their colleague who was missing in action. Janny found it appalling how certain people only cared about themselves and had only seemed to be concerned about her when it benefited themselves. In the past, when they worked together as a team, so many of these colleagues had invested in currying favour with Ying Xue, by treating her to b

Since that incident, she had not seen Jing Yue. She knew that this was just temporary and perhaps there would be chances for them to meet in the future. But even given that possibility, how could she even face him that she had been so needy with him inside the room when she was drunk? He hadn’t even called her... Wait, he didn’t have her number, either. She crawled out of bed and stared into the mirror watching her disorderly state.Perhaps if not for the fire drill that night, she would have made love with Jing Yue and this would have changed his perspective of her. The fire drill had caused them to scatter and run out of the room, forget about the party and assemble outside the building. They were divided after that and she never got to see what expression he had on his face before she left. And that way, two weeks had passed. There was no mention of Jing Yue since then.It was Sunday today. She wouldn’t have much
“You can’t be really curious about what happens between a lonely man and woman when they get drunk?” Jing Yue teased as he led her down the empty hallway. Her face was flushed as red as an apple, and she sought an excuse to defend herself.“It’s not that, Jing Yue-” she struggled to mouth, but she was only able to make out a few words. Without wasting any time, he pulled her into an empty room and kissed her senselessly. She could taste the alcohol in his mouth, but yet, it had felt insanely satisfying to make out with him this way. In her heart, she knew she needed more, even if it felt wrong. His mouth was pleasantly warm, leading her to indulge in more, savoury kisses.Jing Yue’s touch sent waves of desire resonating through her body. His hands freely roamed her body, tingling her and spasming her with need. She fought her desire and attempted to keep her thoughts pure. How different he was now compared to when he was sober,
Janny had selected, for Xin Ran, a black strapless evening dress that revealed her bare shoulders and back. Janny asserted that given her tempting figure, Xin Ran would be able to carry the dress to its maximum effect. She turned out needing help in putting on the low-cut dress, that special undergarments were required.Besides, her cleavage was exposed, making her feel a degree of discomfort that she would continually shield her neckline with her hand. She was already feeling naked from the lack of cloth covering her shoulders and back. But what if Jing Yue was present? Xin Ran giggled at the thought. The inconvenience she was in would prove worth it if Jing Yue liked what he saw. Though she didn’t know much about these events, she understood that it was a chance for her to socialise and be a step closer to Jing Yue. Who knows, she might even change his sexual orientation!Forget sexual orientation, she said to herself. She would m
“Do you want to go to the doctor?” Janny offered, coming to a halt at the traffic light in front.Xin Ran firmly shook her head. “I’m fine now.” It would take her some time to adjust to having those memories. She rubbed her temple slightly. Somehow, her head didn’t throb as much as the previous time, which was a good thing.Janny’s driving skills were commendable for her younger age. Xin Ran felt at ease with her being the driver. She closed her eyes and tried not to focus on her nervousness at being a passenger. Her chest was feeling congested. Perhaps if she didn’t focus on her fear of being in a box that had caused her accident, she would feel a lot better.“Hang in there, Xue Xue. We’ll be at the office shortly,” Janny said, making a sharp turn. Even with her eyes shut tightly, her friend was still trembling vigorously. The GPS device on her dashboard announced that there was about
“Ran’er.”
