The woman in the red dress struggled to breathe and absorb what was going on about her. She sensed emotions of tragedy, anguish and desperation all around. Her head was heavy, she was breathless like something heavy had been pushed down on her, and her consciousness was fading. Focus, Focus! she told herself.
She heard cries and screams. But try as she might, she could not remember anything from her life, not even her family, her childhood, or even her education. Before her eyes lay shocking images of a street, and the bloodied and battered victims lying on the roadside. Her emotions were a turmoil, and after a few long minutes, it ended with everything turning black, and she lost consciousness again.
She had a dream.
A gem clad woman in a bright red sequinned gown was calling out her name in the dream.
"Chu Xin Ran, you need to wake up."
The woman was ethereally beautiful and fascinating, not like someone from this world. As the woman blew gently on her, she felt herself drifting away, and when she regained consciousness, she was invigorated and lying on a hospital bed, with vague memories of the accident scene earlier. She was told that she was a victim of a debilitating road accident involving three cars, and she had been the sole survivor. However, she was rescued in time by a passer-by who had no knowledge of the accident but appeared to know her in some way.
With the assistance of the nurse, she was able to sit up, and she took a glance at her patient bracelet. Try as she might, she could not remember her name, but the name "Chu Xin Ran" as spoken by the goddess earlier, seemed to be etched deeply in her mind. She felt a sense of unfamiliarity with the name on the patient bracelet, Tang Ying Xue, and the next thing she had thought of was to ask for her smartphone, which the nurse readily complied, and disappeared shortly.
A vast number of thoughts were going through her head, and suddenly she recalled a brief memory of the woman in the red gown speaking to her, though everything was inaudible in the memory. But considering she had no recollection of either of her current and past lives, she wondered if her soul might have just magically entered this woman's body.
The nurse promptly retrieved her smartphone from a small cabinet located next to her and courteously handed it to her. It all came naturally to her after that, she unlocked the phone's screen with a deft swipe of her fingers and keyed in the security code. Although she had no memories of the past about this woman who she was now, she was aware that she could recall how to use the smartphone efficiently to the full extent of its functions: she could capture photographs, type, perform calculations, play mobile games, and she even recalled the passwords of every of her social media accounts involuntarily.
"Miss Tang, the doctor mentioned that you are suffering from traumatic amnesia, as a result of your accident," the nurse added. "That is probably why you have difficulty recalling most of the events in your life, but you shouldn't need to worry about that for now."
"Will I ever regain my memory?" she immediately asked. When she had just awoken in the hospital, she was completely unsure who she was. The nurse's words had brought some reassurance to her, and she also believed to some extent that she had been reincarnated as Tang Ying Xue, from her previous life as Chu Xin Ran. However, since reincarnation was something people watched on television, she was unclear if she had just woken up in a 23-year old's body, or if she had just encountered amnesia. Then, why had she dreamed she was Chu Xin Ran? Was she not only amnesiac but going insane?
She resumed browsing her smartphone and looking at the unfamiliar contacts and trying to identify them in her mind, but to no avail. A number of her chat conversations had been deleted, suggestive that her accident could be planned, and more than meets the eye.
Shortly after that, she had a slight chat with the doctor to understand her condition, and before he left, the doctor informed her that he would refer her to a psychologist for further management. So, the doctor believed that she was really going mad, then? She huffed with displeasure at the thought.
Next, the nurse knocked on the door to inform her that she had a visitor. She urged the nurse to allow the visitor to enter, eager to know of Tang Ying Xue's life.
She was perplexed by the familiarity of the handsome stranger that entered her room, and his cold and seductive aura lingered around the atmosphere in the room and fascinated her further.
"You are..."
"I am Jing Yue."
Jing Yue? The name did not ring a bell in her mind but provided her amnesiac condition, she probably wouldn't be able to recall his name.
"Do you know me, Mr Jing?"
"I found you at the accident scene, still very alive, and took you to the hospital." He pronounced each word calmly and coldly, and his eyes watched her observantly, like an eagle. She felt some degree of nervousness when talking with him, even when he was just silent. She refrained from questioning him further due to his paramount attitude, but at the same time, she found that her eyes were glued to him intensely, and she just wished she could know him deeper. Who knows, he could even help her recover her lost memories.
His abrupt reply just shocked her further.
"Miss Tang, do you not remember me at all?"
Who was this man, and just how was he connected to Tang Ying Xue?
Nevertheless, she was inclined to believe him, due to a gut feeling that he was someone she could trust, despite being at that juncture...
Jing Yue stared deeply at the woman for a very long time. He had long heard of this strange woman during university, and how she piqued many students' curiosity during her freshman years with the peculiar things that she had done out of the blue. Coincidentally, she had been his junior of three years during his studies there, and he had also encountered her a few times in the university library. Brushing past her in the library had also resulted in him having the impression she wasn't an ordinary woman like the others, but at that time, there had been no suitable chance for him to get to know her then. Eventually he graduated from the university i
"You were fortunate that you didn't suffer a severe concussion to the head," Jing Yue said in his typical icy tone as they took a stroll outside the hospital ward. As she was weak, she was seated in a wheelchair while Jing Yue meticulously carted her around the park situated in the vicinity of the ward. Surprisingly, she had been one of the parties involved in a serious car accident - but her damage wasn't that serious considering the other parties had died. She was the sole survivor, and he speculated that the trauma of seeing so many deaths around her had caused her to be significantly affected, and hence, she was suffering a post-traumatic loss of memory. On t
When she woke up again after taking the painkillers from the nurse, it was already four in the afternoon. Jing Yue hadn't turned up today, and the visiting hours of the ward were already over for the daytime. It wouldn't be until five-thirty in the evening until the hospital ward would open up to allow visitors again. She heard a buzz from her phone and realized there was a notification from HeyApp. Someone by the alias 'A Marvel' had sent her a message. Since t
Jing Yue nonchalantly looked on at the patient with her hair in an adorable mess. "Good evening, Miss Tang. Do you remember anything yet?"Xin Ran shook her head. "No, nothing."
He coaxed her calmly and pulled her closer to him to soothe her pain, and after a few minutes, she felt herself drifting into a deep slumber. To her astonishment, instead of merely falling asleep, her consciousness was fading away.Sheappeared to be entering an unusual area, seemingly in another plane of existence.
Before renewing her contract with her employers, Janny Xu had returned to her secluded home town for two weeks to visit her aged parents, having missed them so much after spending several years in a strange city far from home. She had barely resumed work for a week when gossip in the office about her teammate's probable accident had somehow reached her ears. Up till now, nobody had bothered to find out what happened to their colleague who was missing in action. Janny found it appalling how certain people only cared about themselves and had only seemed to be concerned about her when it benefited themselves. In the past, when they worked together as a team, so many of these colleagues had invested in currying favour with Ying Xue, by treating her to b

She didn't know if it was a dream or a memory, and then she continued. Since that incident, she had not seen Jing Yue. She knew that this was just temporary and perhaps there would be chances for them to meet in the future. But even given that possibility, how could she even face him that she had been so needy with him inside the room when she was drunk? He hadn’t even called her... Wait, he didn’t have her number, either. She crawled out of bed and stared into the mirror watching her disorderly state.Perhaps if not for the fire drill that night, she would have made love with Jing Yue and this would have changed his perspective of her. The fire drill had caused them to scatter and run out of the room, forget about the party and assemble outside the building. They were divided after that and she never got to see what expression he had on his face before she left. And that way, two weeks had passed. There was no mention of Jing Yue since then.It was Sunday today. She wouldn’t have much
“You can’t be really curious about what happens between a lonely man and woman when they get drunk?” Jing Yue teased as he led her down the empty hallway. Her face was flushed as red as an apple, and she sought an excuse to defend herself.“It’s not that, Jing Yue-” she struggled to mouth, but she was only able to make out a few words. Without wasting any time, he pulled her into an empty room and kissed her senselessly. She could taste the alcohol in his mouth, but yet, it had felt insanely satisfying to make out with him this way. In her heart, she knew she needed more, even if it felt wrong. His mouth was pleasantly warm, leading her to indulge in more, savoury kisses.Jing Yue’s touch sent waves of desire resonating through her body. His hands freely roamed her body, tingling her and spasming her with need. She fought her desire and attempted to keep her thoughts pure. How different he was now compared to when he was sober,
Janny had selected, for Xin Ran, a black strapless evening dress that revealed her bare shoulders and back. Janny asserted that given her tempting figure, Xin Ran would be able to carry the dress to its maximum effect. She turned out needing help in putting on the low-cut dress, that special undergarments were required.Besides, her cleavage was exposed, making her feel a degree of discomfort that she would continually shield her neckline with her hand. She was already feeling naked from the lack of cloth covering her shoulders and back. But what if Jing Yue was present? Xin Ran giggled at the thought. The inconvenience she was in would prove worth it if Jing Yue liked what he saw. Though she didn’t know much about these events, she understood that it was a chance for her to socialise and be a step closer to Jing Yue. Who knows, she might even change his sexual orientation!Forget sexual orientation, she said to herself. She would m
“Do you want to go to the doctor?” Janny offered, coming to a halt at the traffic light in front.Xin Ran firmly shook her head. “I’m fine now.” It would take her some time to adjust to having those memories. She rubbed her temple slightly. Somehow, her head didn’t throb as much as the previous time, which was a good thing.Janny’s driving skills were commendable for her younger age. Xin Ran felt at ease with her being the driver. She closed her eyes and tried not to focus on her nervousness at being a passenger. Her chest was feeling congested. Perhaps if she didn’t focus on her fear of being in a box that had caused her accident, she would feel a lot better.“Hang in there, Xue Xue. We’ll be at the office shortly,” Janny said, making a sharp turn. Even with her eyes shut tightly, her friend was still trembling vigorously. The GPS device on her dashboard announced that there was about
“Ran’er.”
Xin Ran didn’t believe how easily she had just turned him down with one call, Xin Ran thought as she replaced her smartphone into her handbag. She was discharged the same night and returned with Janny to the apartment they lived in.The apartment turned out to be rather cosy and feminine-looking, with pas
