“What?” Beck and Ben chorused in shock. They could not believe what Damion had just said.

“Is this true, Ben?” He asked.

“Calm down, Beck. It's not what you think. It's not even true. Don't listen to him. He is just spewing nonsense. I don't know where he heard this nonsense from.” Ben said, trying to defend himself.

“Oh really?” Damion scoffed. “Explain what it is then.” He sneered at him.

“Damion! What the hell is wrong with you? Have you lost your damn mind?” Ben yelled at him.

He turned back to Beck in a bid to explain the misunderstanding but from the look on Beck's face, it was clear that he was extremely furious and mad at him.

“I can't believe I've trusted a betrayer all these years. You're supposed to be my best friend for crying out loud! How could you harbor feelings for my girl? I hope you're happy now that she has left.”

“No, Beck. Trust me. The moon goddess is my witness. I have never had any of that kind of feeling towards her.” Ben explained.

Veronica trudged on in the forest, limping on her injured leg as she still felt pain in it, which made her journey slower than it would have been. Not that she had a particular destination in mind, but she just kept moving, hoping that luck would smile on her and she would find a place to rest for the night before it got darker. As she kept wandering around in the forest, she noticed something familiar.“Why does this place look so familiar? I thought I had passed this tree before now. Are all the trees now looking the same?” She asked herself as she looked around to be sure that she wasn't right.“No, it can't be. They all just look alike. It's the forest, so the trees are bound to look alike.” She said again as she kept going. After walking for almost twenty minutes, she saw the familiar big tree again.“No way, what could be going on? Am I seeing

As Veronica fell to the ground, her vision became blurry, and before she knew what was going on, complete darkness had enveloped her. The last thing she remembered was the sharp pain shooting through her leg after she stumbled and fell, before everything faded to black. It was very early in the morning when she finally began to regain consciousness, and everywhere around was still a bit dark. A pounding ache pulsed through her head. The air in the cave was musty and thick with the scent of old particles and decay. Slowly, she began to open her eyes, to find herself in a dimly lit cave. As her eyes adjusted to the dim light, and became wide open, she began to look around, wondering where she was and how she got there. “Where am I?” She asked herself. As she looked around, she noticed that the walls of the cave were rough and uneven, it was a very old cave. Also, the silence in there was so deafening, it was broken only by the sound of her own ragged breathing.“Arrggghhhh! My head h

“What is that now?” She muttered under her breath as she remained on the same spot. She heard the sound again and this time it sounded like something or someone ran past her, behind her in a flash. Scared and holding her breath, she slowly turned around but saw nothing. Her heart began to pound in her chest as she stumbled through the dense forest, her breath coming in ragged gasps. The memory of the wolf's failed attempt to attack her flashed through her mind. She had narrowly escaped being killed by the wolf and then hunger had gnawed at her stomach but now, fear clawed at her mind.“What could be lurking in the bushes?” She thought to herself once again as her eyes scanned the area once again for anything familiar or unfamiliar but there was nothing but silence.“Maybe it was my imagination. It may be that I was hallucinating.” She said to herself as she tried to shake off the thought of the sounds that she had just heard in the bushes. She then decided to con

“Trust me, I love listening to long stories and I love to believe that I am the best listener anyone can ever ask for. So, I'm all ears.” He said with anticipation and so much confidence in his listening abilities.Veronica smiled faintly but one could see sadness written all over her face.“Why? You don't want to tell me? You feel I'm not a worthy listener?” Scott asked her, sadly. “If you do not want to tell me, it's fine. I'm sorry for asking.” He said further and turned his face away from her.“Oh no, that is not it. It's not that I feel you're not a worthy listener.” She didn't agree with what he said, and tried to hold on to his hands but he still didn't look her way.“Then it's what?” He asked, turning back to look at her.“It's just too painful.” She breathed shakily after pausing for a while to process her words and as Scott stared at her, he noticed the tears which he knew she was trying hard to fight back.Scott held her hands, as he tried to comfort her, “you should cry if

**FIRE DAWN PACK**Scott's parents, Beta Richard and Beta Lily, had to remain in their house according to the order of the Alpha. They had wanted to go in search of their son as soon as the day broke, but the Alpha had instructed them to wait because he had sent out warrior guards in search of their son and he wanted them to remain in the pack until the warriors got back with news of his possible whereabouts.“Remain in the pack until the warriors get back with news of your son’s whereabouts.” Alpha Marcus had ordered, and although Beta Richard wasn't completely in support of sitting back and letting other people do the work, especially now that his son was involved, he had no choice but to obey his Alpha.“But until when, Alpha Marcus?” He had asked, trying to work his way into the search party to look for his missing son. “I can go with them, Alpha. It will make the search more effective.” “No, Richard, you'll remain in the pack, at least until the warriors get back with news on hi

Shocked and devastated, Veronica did not know who to call for help. Even if she did call for help, no one would hear her and she doubted if anyone would want to help her. Besides, she will only be attracting trouble because the trap was possibly set by rogue wolves. She knew she had no one to call but herself, hence, she had to do something and she had to do it fast.“Scott? Scott? Can you hear me?” She began to call him but got no response.“Please if you can hear me, answer me, please, Scott. You're scaring me. Scott!!!!” She screamed as she spoke, not caring if her voice was loud enough to attract anything dangerous.Seeing as he wasn't responsive, hot tears welled up in her eyes and she began to cry. This was the only person she has met since she was trapped in that forest and now it seemed like she had lost him too. She sat on the bare ground and cried so much until her eyes began to hurt.As she cried, her eyes caught a glimpse of a rope tied to a branch and immediately, a thoug

The warriors got back to the pack late at night and their Leader immediately reported to the Alpha's quarters to update him on the situation of things.Alpha Marcus and Beta Richard were both waiting for the warriors in the Alpha's throne room. Alpha Marcus was seated on his throne, while Beta Richard was pacing when the Leader of the warriors arrived.“Did you find him? Did you find my Son?” Beta Richard immediately began to ask him as soon as he approached them.“Calm down, Richard. Allow the young man to talk.” Alpha Marcus said to him.“I'm sorry, Alpha. I just got impatient.” He replied with a slight tone of impatience. The leader knelt on one knee and bowed to the Alpha, who then signaled to him to get up.“Any positive news?” Alpha Marcus asked him.“I'm so sorry but I'm afraid, we've not been able to find him yet.” Leader said, bowing his head.Angry and disappointed, Alpha Marcus sprung to his feet and began to question him, “What do you mean you've not found him yet? Soon the new day broke and Scott finally woke up to Veronica's eyes watching him like a hawk. She didn't sleep a wink throughout the night. She kept watching him and as soon as she saw his eyes open, she immediately heaved a sigh of relief.“Scott, you're awake? Oh my, I'm so happy.” She said with tears in her eyes as she helped him sit up.“I thought I had lost you.” She cried and hugged him.“What happened? Where are we? How did we end up in here?” He kept asking numerous questions as he rubbed his eyes and yawned.“Well, it’s a pit. You fell in and passed out. I had to come in to get you.” She said and Scott could almost not believe his ears.“I did what? You did what? Geez! So much happened!” He exclaimed, unable to contain his shock at the turn of events.“The last thing I remember was getting fruits and you jumping down from the tree because I had something dangerous with me and I almost ate it if not for you.” He explained but suddenly held his head because he felt a sharp pain

Veronica wailed helplessly as the thought of her only daughter being killed filled her heart.“Who could have done this?” Beck questioned himself, as he tried to console his wife. “Please don't cry. We'll find her.” He tried to be strong for both of them.“Please take her inside.” He said to Veronica’s maids.“I'm not going anywhere until my daughter is found.” Veronica protested, crying profusely.“Please just calm down and stay inside. We'll find her. I promise.” He tried to appease her, fighting his tears at the same time.“I shouldn't have left her alone. I shouldn't have taken my eyes off her.” Veronica blamed herself for what had happened as she was taken back into the palace, even though she struggled with the maids, who tried to take her in.Minutes rolled into hours, hours rolled into days and days rolled into weeks. Before they knew it, it had been one month since Miley was kidnapped on her birthday, right under their watch, and they were yet to find her.Beck was broken as

Where do you plan to go?” Alpha Charles asked, staring at his daughter, who had just told them that she needed a break, and wanted to go on a journey.“Honestly, I don't know yet. I was hoping you could help me speak to maybe one of your trusted friends. Maybe I can just stay there for a while.” Veronica replied.“And how long are we talking about?” Her father inquired.Veronica hesitated. “About a year or more than that.” She replied, squinting as she waited for her parents’ reaction.“What!” Her parents exclaimed. “Why would you want to leave for that long?” They chorused.“I just need a short break.” Veronica answered.“That is definitely not ‘short’.” Her father pointed out.“Hmmmmm…” Luna Isabella sighed. “I'm really worried about you, Veronica. “Vee!” He called out her nickname in the same tender, loving tone he'd used years ago, when they were still together in his pack. The familiar sound of his voice, the way he whispered her name, awakened a flood of past memories and emotions.“Don't!” She snapped, turning around, and letting out a gasped breath. “Don't you dare call me that. You have no right!” She pointed straight into his chest.“Veronica, please.” He begged, falling on his knees.“You lost the right to call my name that way the moment you stood there and watched me being humiliated and you did nothing. Absolutely nothing, Beck. You did nothing, despite my desperate cries for help.” She held her breath, and turned around, leaving again.“Wait up. Listen to me.” He jumped to his feet, going after her, but she refused to stop.“Please, hear me out. Forgive me. Please give me another chance to make it up to you. Veronica lay motionless, her chest rising and falling with each gentle breath. The soft morning light streaming through the window highlighted the peaceful features of her face, her eyelids fluttering slightly as she chased the remnants of a dream. The silence was almost palpable, broken only by the distant chirping of birds, flying in the sky. Veronica's hair flowed across the pillow like a waterfall of night, a few stray strands framing her face.Just as it seemed like the silence would continue, the creak of the front door broke the stillness. Vincent stepped out of his room, tiptoeing, his footsteps echoing through the hallway. As he got to Veronica's room, he pushed open the door slowly, wincing slightly at the faint creak of the hinges. A warm smile spread across his face as he gazed at his sister, sleeping soundly. He moved with a quiet motion, trying so hard not to startle his sister or disrupt her sleep.“Vee?” Vincent whispered, his voice barely audible over the sound of hi

There had been some recent attacks, but despite trying so hard to increase the security at the borders, the attacks still didn't stop.“What else can we do to stop these minor attacks?” Beck asked, his eyes focused on the papers on his table.Ben sighed. “Honestly, I have no idea, but I'm quite bothered about something though.” He said with a worried look on his face.“About what?” Beck inquired, his eyes still on the papers.“About why the attacks keep increasing despite every measure we've put in place in the last three months.” Ben replied, thinking thoughtfully.“That's exactly what I'm saying. I'm really pissed, and I think the security team isn't doing what they are supposed to be doing. I guess it's time for a change.
