Chapter 12 Twitter Drama

Sunday morning.

I was in a cafe, drinking a cup of coffee as I waited for my mom to pick me up. Today we have a meeting with the board regarding mom's new fashion catalog. There, they will judge mom's works and will decide whether to sponsor the runlway project that mom has or not.

As for me, I'm just going there for moral support.

Mom and I  were supposed to head there together, but since I woke up late, she told me that she'll pick me up around 8 AM specifically at this cafe.

Through my sunglasses, I checked my phone to see that it was 7:56 AM. Four minutes till the said meeting time.

With a sigh, I decided to check my Twitter account to see that I have 254 new followers. I scrolled them over to see that these new followers were new students at our school.

I took a sip of my coffee as I continued to read the names. As I scrolled down I almost spit my coffee when I read 4 names that ruined my day.

@Sandychick followed you

@LeoWayn followed you

@XanderXpress followed you

@SheenThelicius followed you

Stalker was the first thing that came to my mind before the excitement and fangirl part took over as I realized that Leo followed me.

But still, do they really need to follow me on Twitter? Haven't they followed me enough at school?

I looked at my phone again to see that I have a text from my mom.

--------------------------------

From: Barbie Mom

In the car. Waiting outside the cafe. Get out. Now.

----------------------------------

After reading the text, I grabbed my bag and headed out of the cafe. I looked around in search of my mom, but no such luck. I sighed.

I was about to call her when I heard a car honk. I looked up at the parking lot and saw my mom waving at me in her car. I made my way to her and hopped in on the front seat beside her. Once I closed the door, I looked at her. "What took you so long?" I asked.

"Got stuck in the traffic." She says.

I slumped back in my seat and just continued to scroll through Twitter. Getting notifications here and there from all the mentions and tags I get. Nothing was new today. A bunch of people still kept asking me to follow them back.

I do follow some of them though.

People who don't spam me that is.

My phone suddenly beeped when I got a new notification.

--------------------------------

@Sandychick: @HaileyC hey girl. Follow back ;)

90 Favorites 78 Retweets

------------------------------

Reading her tweet, my hand suddenly clench my phone tightly in annoyance. I glared at the screen, picturing that it was Sandy who I'm glaring at.

Wow, she really needs to make it public huh? She wants to play? I'll play with her.

I clicked on her tweet and hit the heart button.

The only thing worse than being seen zoned is when someone favorites your tweet and didn't respond to it.

I started laughing in my seat as I imagined the humiliating that she was feeling right now.

Take that, Sandy!

"Honey, are you okay? You look like you've murdered someone."

Oh, I murdered someone alright.....in social media.

I grinned innocently at my mom. "Oh don't worry about me, mom. Everything is under control." I looked back at my phone and couldn't help but let out an evil grin. "Everything is under control." I repeated.

*****

Once we arrived at the company, mom and I rode the elevator to the 7th floor. Once we came in, all heads turned in our direction. Feeling uncomfortable, I leaned into my mom to whisper. "Hey, mom. We aren't late, aren't we?" I asked.

"Nope. But we are the important ones here." She whispered back. "Oh and please, Hailey. Be on your best behavior and don't touch anything." She made emphasis on the last part making me grin sheepishly as I remember the time I triggered the fire alarm out of curiosity.

Note: when you read a sign on a red button that says push, don't push it. It's the fire alarm. Learned that the hard way.

Mr. Beggard, the head of the meeting and the sponsor, motioned for us to sit. Mom and I took our places on the table as we waited for him. Mom sat beside me while I took a seat beside Kaila. I grinned at her and she smiled back but later frowned when I stuck my tongue out at her.

Mr. Beggard cleared his throat before speaking. "Alright, before we begin, I would like to commend Mrs. Collins for her wonderful designs this year. Truly a work of art." We all started to clap.

I couldn't help but feel proud of my mom's accomplishment. Hearing that made me do mini fist bumps as I let out a howl.

"Woo!!"

Someone slapped me at the back of my head and I turned to glare at Kaila who was giving me a disapproving look. "Will you stop being an animal!?" She hissed at me. I pouted and turned my attention back to the meeting.

Mr.Beggard raised a hand to silence us all. When everyone was quiet enough, he started to speak. "The designs and sketches are marvelous. My peers and I-"

Everyone was quiet as we heard a phone ring while I sat on my seat looking bored.

As the phone continued to ring, the people in the meeting room started to search for the source of the noise. A second later and all heads turned to me.

I raised an eyebrow at them in question. Why are they looking at me like that?

Kaila suddenly nudges me hard making me look at her. "What?" I whispered at her.

"Your phone is ringing, you idiot, that’s what!!" She hissed at me and pointed at my pocket.

I followed her gaze before looking back at her. "What makes you think that it’s mine?" I asked defensively. "It's not nice to accuse people you know."

She drew her hand back and slapped it to her face, dragging it before looking at me. She was clearly frustrated. "Because, stupid, the noise is coming from your pocket and you are obviously the only fool around her to have that as a ring tone. Now stop sitting there get out and answer it!!"

I blushed and smiled sheepishly at everyone before I got up from my seat and excused myself. Once I was out, I fished my phone out of my pocket

I wonder who it is. No one really calls me except my mom, my dad, Kaila, and some other modeling agency.

I looked at the screen to see that it has an unknown number on it. Frowning, I clicked the accept button and place it to my ear. "I don't talk to strangers. Don't call me!!" I said and ended the call.

Sheesh!! Wonder who that was. It was obviously not on my phone book so it could just be someone who got the wrong number.

Oh well. At least that's over with.

I was about to go back to the meeting room again when my phone started to ring. The same number was calling me again.

I grunted and answered it again. "Leave me alone!! I am not interested to but anything!" I screamed at the caller.

"HOW DARE YOU FAVORITE MY TWEET AND LEAVE IT UNRESPONDED!! DO YOU KNOW HOW OFFENSIVE THAT WAS ON MY SOCIAL PART!?!?" I moved the phone away from my ear when the caller screamed at me. It was so loud that my phone was like on speaker.

I blinked when I recognize the voice on the other line."Wait. Sandy?"

"Of course it’s me. Unless you've made a fool of other people on social media besides me."

"How did you get my number?" I asked.

I could just picture her smirk when she said, "I'm the secretary of the student council. I have permission to look through the student files. Fortunately, your number was on it."

I knew I should have changed my number a long time ago. "Well yeah. That's good." I said sarcastically. "Look, Sandy. I was in the middle of a meeting with my mom when you called." I pointed out.

"Yeah well, I was in the middle of our rehearsal when you favorited my tweet."

"It was just a stupid tweet. Get over it!!" I growled at her as I slowly lose my patience. "Now stop calling me for I have more important things to do!!" Before Sandy could reply, I ended the call and hurried to block her number in case she calls back.

I glared at my phone thinking that it was Sandy. Wow, talk about a drama queen. I can't believe that she got mad at me just because of that simple tweet.

Ugh!! If this is the effect of being a socializing queen at school then no thank you. I'm satisfied with my role as the cool girl.

I sighed. I started to walk back towards the meeting room but stopped when I was in front of the door. Suddenly, I do not feel like joining the meeting after what just happened.

Biting the side of my cheek, I decided that visiting my dad might help me bring my mood back. And besides, I think the restaurant is kind of busy since I heard that someone is going to have a birthday right now. I bet my dad could use a hand.

Having that in mind, I sent a quick text to my dad that I will be coming over. When my dad texted me back with an ‘okay.’ I started to make my way out of the building and called a cab.

My mouth started to water but I need to find my dad first. The staff didn't really pay any attention to me as I entered since they already know who I am. I gathered my hair up and put an extra hairnet on top of my head from the counter.Now we don't want to ruin my dad's business when the customers find a hair on their dishes, don't we?It wasn't long until I found my dad with some of the chefs. He was guiding and instructing them what to do and how it's done."Use these tomatoes instead of those. We only want the finest ingredients for this." Ordered my dad.

    My dad closed the restaurant early today so that he and I can go home together. We talked on the way about things that happened earlier at the restaurant. We laughed and joked about the customers and our work.I actually enjoyed the ride home considering that I don't always hang out with my dad this much because of his busy schedule.As soon as we got home, we found mom and Kaila on the couch talking in hushed voices. When they saw us, they both got to their feet. Mom beamed and came to hug me before she went to dad kissed him on the cheek.Not wanting to see more of their PDA, I went and sit on the couch with Kaila. You'd think that 20 years of marriage will help cease the lovey-dovey affection of my mom and dad with each other but no. They’re still had over heels for each other.

    Alright, Hailey. Just knock and get this over with. I told myself as I stood in front of the student council room. After I sent the text to Sandy, she immediately replied and told me to go to the student council room before classes start.My fist shook as I readied myself to knock on their door. Then I suddenly changed my mind and withdrew my hand back.This is a bad idea. I just know it. I thought and I couldn't agree more with myself. But it's not like I could back away from this either. My mom's runway project depends on their participation and if my mom can't convince them then at least I'd give it a shot.After all, it's better to do something than nothing at all. The whole morning during class, I avoided making eye contact with them. It was embarrassing and awkward at the same time. Luckily, they didn't bother to talk to me. I guess it was because of their promise not to speak to me unless I initiate the conversation. And I can't say that I am not happy about that.When lunch came, I was afraid to go out and eat at my spot under the tree in fear that they would be there. So instead, I went to eat at the cafeteria at my reserved table. I, of course, brought my own lunch with me. After the soup thing on the first day, I don't trust the cafeteria for edible foods anymore.As usual, I was alone at my table as I silently and slowly ate my lunch, chicken sandwich, and an apple.I heard a crash and I immediately looked up to see where the noise was coming from.

I ask in bewilderment. They all paused and stared at me as if I was stupid. Then I suddenly remembered that they are The Pandorgriffs and it all suddenly made sense. "Of course. Sorry for asking." I muttered.I followed Sandy to the far left side of the room and opened the door as she ushered me in. Inside, I felt like I was inside a Hannah Montana closet.On the walls were racks filled with shoes and clothes. A mini crystal chandelier hung in the middle. At the center of the room was a huge round bed with red bed sheets.

    The next day, after I made the deal with the student council, there was a ceremony the next morning. Of course, it was held by the student councils and none of us knew what it was. But all I heard was that it was something important that all the students of Waynard High must witness.I let out an irritated sigh. It's been 15 minutes since we were called down to wait and I'm getting bored. This better be worth it or else!!!Looking around me, it seems as if I was the only one feeling irritated. The other students seemed pretty excited about this ceremony that they are planning. I was on the verge of throwing small papers at the students and blame them on the person next to me just to cause a scene but noooo.....cool Hailey won't allow it.Killjoy."Students, may we

    As soon as we got into the student council room, Xander made me sit on one of the couches while he and the rest of the members looked down on me, which I really don't appreciate. The way that they were looking at me was as if I was someone who was crazy or something."What?" I frowned when they look at me for too long. "What is it?"Leo shook his head. "I don't even know where to start." He said and took in a deep breath before looking at me again. "But I am going to ask this though. Why would you put that guy in the locker?"I thought back at the event earlier and I shrugged. "Why not?""Miss Collins, you can't just put people inside lockers for no reason.""Well, that guy sure did that to the nerd. Why can't I?"

    My first instinct is to run away with Xander. My second instinct is to run towards Vanessa and tackle her. That girl deserves whatever body pain I am planning on inflicting on her. I guess it was not enough for her to ruin me. Now, she wants to drag Xander along too. She obviously needed some much needed drama to put her on the spot again. To what extent is she willing to ruin people’s lives just so she can stay in the spotlight? I have never been so angry at anyone before, but I will deal with my emotions later. My priority right now is Xander. Looking at Xander, I was surprised to see him standing so calmly in front of me. Well, he wasn’t entirely calm. He was shaking, but it wasn’t from fear or anxiety. He looks like he is about to burst out laughing. What is he so excited about? “Xander?” I grab his hand. “Xander, come on. Let’s get you out of here. I will call my dad to pick us up.” Xander’s gaze softens when he turns to me. “Thanks, Hailey.” He kisses my forehead, which

    The big day has arrived, and even though I have complete faith in my mother's design abilities, I can not help but feel nervous. I have seen the design before, but when I look in the mirror, I cannot help but admire the dress. It’s a light lavender dress with a sweetheart neckline and a thin laced strap to keep it in place—my mom knows I was never gifted in the frontal area. The skirt is a flare shape, with the hemline ending perfectly a few centimeters from the floor. Most of the beadwork is at the neckline and waist since the material used for the skirt is chromatic. It shines perfectly on its own. My mother didn’t want me to look too mature so my hair is left in a side loose braid. “Perfect!” My mother enters the dressing room just as I finish clasping dangling earrings in my ears. I shy away from the mirror at how my mother is continuously gushing at me and my outfit. “Darling, you look wonderful! Of course, I expect no less from my daughter, who carries my perfect genes!” “N

    Preparation for the dance has been going smoothly. Our efforts have come to fruition when everything is finally coming together. I hate every second of the work, but getting to see the final outcome feels somehow rewarding. Speaking of which, while we were still preparing the venue, the others figured out that Xander and I were already dating. I’m pretty sure that was the case when we told them, because their reaction was a robotic surprise, like they hadn’t tried practicing it. “Wow. We totally had no idea.” “Really? We hadn’t noticed.” “Congratulations!” Only Leo had a really genuine reaction from the group, even lightly clapping his hands in celebration. This world needs a lot more Leo—so pure and innocent. The rest of us can just die (I'm kidding!). “See? I told you they’d know.” Xander crosses his arms and pointedly looks toward Sandy. “I bet you already have proofs and created a group chat where only you, Sheen, and Leo are in it to show the photos.” Leo and Sheen exch

    Taking a photoshoot with The Pandorgriffs always feels like bliss for me, despite the number of times that we’ve done this before. It seems that I will always be their fan, no matter what. Actually, that’s not the only thing that makes me excited to work with them. It’s also the fact that I get to work with Xander too. It’s only been a day since we started dating, but it seems like I can’t help but feel light and happy whenever we see each other. He keeps meeting my gaze during our turn and giving me secret grins and a wink. If Xander could be an animal, he would definitely be a fox. Sandy, the ever so reigning queen of gossip, managed to catch that Xander and I have been looking at each other all throughout work. This hellhound of a girl literally has been giving us both a look of suspicion and, I swear, I think her nostrils are flaring like she caught the scent of a hot topic. Xander and I haven’t told the others about our relationship yet. We’re not trying to hide it from them

    As the school’s cool girl, I have numerous people confessing to me on a daily basis, but having someone that I know confess to me, especially one that I like, is just embarrassing—in a good way. You’d thought that I would jump in glee and throw sparkles and rainbows at everyone’s face out of joy, but nope. Before I could even give my answer, Leo and the others came back. The next day, I was so tired. I could not even sleep just thinking about it. We’re supposed to head to the mall today to buy the materials needed to make the design. Of course, Xander is going to be there. Unexpectedly, I arrived at the meeting place earlier than planned. I’ve got nothing better to do because if I continue to stay at home, I might just keep staring at my reflection and recalling the confession. It was a confession, right? I mean, I am almost certain that it was. Before we parted ways, Xander assured me that he doesn’t need an answer right away and is willing to wait. Actually, I really wanted t

I knew what I heard, but I still could not believe it. “Can you tell me why?” “It’s not exactly a secret, but I assure you that it was a mutual agreement on everyone’s part.” Xander looks uncomfortable, making me wish that I hadn’t asked the question in the first place. “I’m sorry. You don’t have to answer my question if you are feeling uncomfortable.” I hastily added and avoided his gaze. As much as I am dying to know their reasons, I should still respect their privacy. I feel like I have accumulated enough points to graduate anyway.I met Sandy at the door, and I gave her the brightest mischievous grin that I could muster. Sandy just smiled at me in return before heading inside the council room. I still have the blackmail photo of her and Sheen on their secret date that I am dying to show her. Because my exams are finally out of the way, I have no choice but to participate in my student council duties. I don’t mind doing it these days, and my old self would laugh at me if I admitted it out loud, but hey, I am here to have fun with Sandy. It’s payback for all the teasing that she put me through. “Hey, Sandy.” I smile, heading over to her and plastering on a smile. Sandy gives me a perplexed look.
