“Hi,” he whispered as he kissed my hand.
She stands there, smiling at him. He was kissing her hand slowly. They knew they belong together. But he was lying all along.
Amilia POV
Caspian and I are walking to the hall where the ball is. I’m nervous; I’ve been shaky from my hands. They are so sweaty. My gut tells me to go, but I can’t go. Caspian is gripping my arm. His grip is a warning for me not to do anything stupid.
As we head to the double doors, there’s this young vampire or old, should I say. He must be the butler here. He checks me out.
He has a surprised look on his face. It seems we surprised him because of my eyes. For the first time, people who see my eyes have this surprised and curious look, like if their mind is playing some trick.
He asks Caspian who I am after Caspian explains; he asks us to follow him. But, I’m rooted on the spot, I can’t move, I’m scared, I’m sweating like crazy. Caspian asks what’s wrong, but I can’t answer. I’m looking around to see if I spot someone I know or if this feeling is just me being paranoid.
“Amilia, what’s the matter?” Caspian asked, “You’ve been fidgeting since a while ago.”
“Can we not go in?” I said, hissing.
“No, we have to go in, we are late, and grandfather is waiting for us. Now move, Amilia,” Caspian said, pulling my arm.
Is there no other choice, I could use an excuse, bathroom, or fresh air? I feel Caspian tugging my arm.
“Hey, look,” Caspian said, holding my chin, “We go in, and if in twenty minutes you don’t find your mate, we leave, ok.”
“Fine,” I said, getting a grip of myself.
Vladimir POV
We’ve been drinking and talking for a while, and I still don’t see my mate. Will it be another disappointment? I’m feeling sad. Is this some sick joke? As I got distracted, I started seeing a commotion. My friends whisper. Suddenly there’s a shatter. One of my friends dropped his whiskey cup. As I was about to ask what’s wrong, I hear Valerius calling me.
“Is something wrong, Valerius?” I asked him.
“Stupid look up there,” he said, turning my head.
There, on top of the staircase, stands a breathtaking woman. Pureblood. She’s standing straight and with her head held high. She’s a beauty; she’s wearing long sleeves, shoulders off, a Royal blue dress that stresses her voluptuous body. Damn, she has a good body. It’s making my dick hum in pleasure. I might get a boner by just looking at her. Her dress has a long slit on her right leg, making it look like an endless river, she isn’t that tall, but she’s perfect for me. She has a big round breast with a waist that looks fragile, her legs are thick, and her butt is round. I wondered how she would look if I fuck her from behind. Also, she has pale skin, just like porcelain. Some hickeys would look perfect on that pale skin. Her jet black hair was swaying softly on her waist as she looks around, a pointy nose and full pink lips. But her eyes, am I imagining things, they look like rocks, Sapphire rocks.
I’m so stunned by her beauty that I see all eyes on her after I look around. Suddenly it hit me, that electric pull flowing into my body, “Mate,” I whispered.
Amilia POV
As Caspian and I stand on the stairways, I see that all eyes are on us. I looked around, ignoring everyone, and I saw the place is full of white Rose bouquets, my favorite flower. As I continue looking around, something catches my eye. Standing in the back corner, a pair of red eyes are looking straight at me. “Is he checking me out?” I said aloud, earning a questionable look from Caspian, forgetting that Caspian is next to me.
I keep feeling those red eyes on me, so I check him out. And God, I got to say he’s the most handsome man I have laid my eyes on. He’s tall with broad and muscular shoulders; I can see biceps flexing under his suit. He has a straight nose, full pink lips, and eyes red as blood. Which has me thinking he might be Royalty. Are they the only ones with red eyes? He also has long silver hair, which’s unusual. It has a nice shine to it, though, and it’s tied into a man’s bun. He’s wearing a black suit with a white shirt, a long black cloak with red details. His shoes and belt are black, and he’s cleaned shave. Just how I like my men. And God, he’s big from down there. He’s gifted, those he has a horse dick! He also has Adam’s apple, which gives an aura of sex appeal. Did I just get wet by thinking of how big he might be?
As I’m overwhelmed by his looks, I tell Caspian that we should move. We look stupid standing here. As I take my first step, I feel it hit me like a rock, that electric pull. Immediately, I feel like I’m about to pass out. It can’t be. I can’t have a mate, especially a second chance.
I feel Caspian’s hold on to me and hear him asking what’s wrong. No way. I needed to get out of here. As I’m trying to look who the person is, I become frantic, gazing everywhere and then seeing him, the same guy heading my way.
My way, wait, he can’t be my mate. “Amilia,” I hear Caspian say, his icy hands are holding my face, trying to make me look at his eyes. But I can’t see him. My eyes only see him. I felt dizzy, and I recall I haven’t fed in four days.
“Amilia, for fuck’s sake, what’s wrong?” Caspian said as I finally look his way.
“Take me away,” is all I said.
“What? Why?” Caspian asked.
“Please,” I begged, “Take me away,” I told him while tears rolled down my cheeks.
Caspian tries to turn me around, telling me he will take me out for some fresh air. I lose my balance, and my legs give out. As I fall, I feel Caspian’s hand on me, and I feel someone else’s hand on my waist. There was the electric pull I had yearned but hated at the same time.
“NO!” That is all I say as I slap the person’s hand away.
Vladimir POV
I’m walking her way, and I notice she’s impatient, distressed, and fidgeting with her hands. Something is wrong. Is she feeling sick or something? Because she looks pale. As I reach the stairways, I hear someone call her name. The guy next to her is holding her with a worried look. Something is up. As I see her turn around, I notice her legs give out, and she’s about to fall, so with my inhuman speed, I reach the top, and at the right moment, I get a hold of her waist.
“No,” I hear her say. What’s the problem, I’m wondering. I’m getting worried about my mate, and I do not like it at all. As my arm is around her waist, I feel the electric pulls.
“No,” she said and slapped my arm away.
Is she confused or something?
“Hey,” I try to say, getting a grip on her hand.
Amilia POV
My mind’s a mess. I’m crying in front of everyone, including Caspian. I’m feeling too weak to stand up completely. But I have to try. I can’t show my weakness here.
“Hey,” I hear a voice say.
“Stay away from me,” I hissed to the stranger.
“Amilia, don’t be disrespectful!” said Caspian.
“Sorry,” said the stranger, “My name’s Vladimir.”
Vladimir, I repeat in my head, has a pleasant name. It rolls nicely in my mouth. What am I even thinking? Do I need to get far away from this guy? He’s my mate, and I don’t need him. I can’t have a second chance, no.
My tears don’t stop, and my mind is wandering back to that person. He’s lying; he will betray me. I’m holding my head in my hands. Please, someone, make this stop.
“Let’s take her to a room,” Vladimir said.
“No!” I shout to Vladimir, “Don’t you dare touch me, you leech.”
“Amilia!!” Caspian said, hissing, “It’s enough we are taking you somewhere else.”
“Yes, let’s go, mate,” Vladimir said.
There, that simple word ‘Mate’ why he had to say it, something just broke in my heart. I see black. And before I could stop myself, the words rolled out of my mouth.
“NO, I Amilia, REJECT YOU,” was all I could say before I passed out.
“Mate?” I said as tears rolled down my cheeks. Pain... That’s what I felt. Someone cried, begging him to stop. I saw her on the floor, tossing and turning in pain. “Please,” she whispered, “Stop, it hurts.” I wanted to see his face, but all I could see was darkness. Who was he?
“NOOO!” It hurts; please make it stop. Please... She was trying to breathe; she was dying. I could feel her suffocating. My throat hurt, burning sensation all over my skin. As I couldn’t stand anymore, I dropped to my knees, crying.
“Why are you doing this to me?” she asked. “I want your power,” he whispered, “Because I never loved you.” “Count!” he screamed. “Count bitch, let me hear you.” It’s dark, but I can hear him. I keep hearing his voice, but where is he? “Where are you, bastards?” I say, looking around the room.
“Why aren’t you screaming?” he says, slapping her across the face. “I told you to scream bitch!” he yelled. He was standing there, slapping her hard, every slap making me cringe, I wanted him to stop, but as I took a step forward, I fell into a dark hole it was full of liquid, sticky, with a foul stench, and red, it was blood.
A key… A door… A journal with his secrets. The room is full of books, with secrets hidden in them. As I was about to grab one, he came in with some cups of wine. “Here, this is for you,” he whispered. Smiling, I took the cup of wine, and when I tasted it, I felt it, poison.
Books and blood... Whispers of old times... “How could you?” she coughed. I saw her again, coughing blood. Sh
Blood, tears, fire. She sobbed quietly, no strength in her. I sat next to her and cried with her; I could feel her pain. “I will kill him,” she said, “I promise he will die.”
Fire, silver, and a ritual. She escaped, she’s running, but he’s right behind her. “RUN” I screamed... But she’s unable to listen to me. Please run faster, please. Caspian POV
Twelve years later… A man walked down an eerily quiet hallway. It was the same hallway he had walked for the last twelve years. Reminisce of that tragic day. He would never miss this special day. As he walked, he noticed the guardians hesitating. He just frowned and continued roaming. His head held high and his hand on his back. He walked like a true king. For the last twelve years, a lot of things have changed. He wondered if this year would be the same as always. As he reached the hallway, he walked, and approaching the door, he hes

She squeezes tighter. “You should die… Even if it means I will bear the pain for the rest of my life….” She thrust her hand right on his chest, squeezing his heart. She saw how
