Eero's perspective
I breathed in deeply and then out slowly. I needed to do that because if not, it felt like I would collapse. “Alpha Ameo, is Luna Vera telling the truth? You will pass down the ruling right to Serra? Isn't the firstborn of the Alpha supposed to inherit the ruling right?! If so, I should be the next Alpha of Moon River instead of that mistress!” For the second time around, my father hit my cheeks with the back of his palm. I tasted blood in my mouth.“Enough is enough! I asked you to stop it already. I am the Alpha and your father. You should be following my order. Saying no to me or questioning my decision was never your option! If Cohen failed to cut your bonds as mate, I would do it if you're pushing me to my limit!” My father snarled at me savagely.I was so lost and confused. They had asked me a thousand times today whether I lost my mind. And right now, it felt like I did, in fact, have lost my mind. “Father?" Ichuckled bitterly. "You know what is funny to me, Alpha? You've never acted like a father to me, at least not as caring for me as you're for Serra. Whenever you mention the word 'father' to me, you're condescending.” I shook my head as I wiped off the trail of blood in the corner of my lips.“For years, I've been the one who endured all the hard training. I've spent countless nights when I felt like giving up because those pieces of training were killing me bits by bits. But I didn't give up, because I thought it was my responsibility to take it. Now you're telling me that all these hardship I've suffered are meaningless, just because you suddenly changed your mind?!” “My decision will remain the same even if you weep blood. Serra will be my heir and the pack's next Alpha. So have some respect for her, or you'll end up getting locked up and facing severe punishment!" “I'll accept her as the next Alpha of our pack as long as she gives me an adequate answer to my question.” I averted my eyes from my biased parents and brushed them at Serra, who still looked indecent with that blanket wrapped around her body."Tell me, how are you gonna defend out pack if the Alpha passes down the ruling right to you? By sleeping with the pack's enemy?” I asked with the raw intention of humiliating her.“That's it. I've had enough of you!” Alpha Ameo pulled me away from his younger daughter and taunted me with his shaking finger. He then mind linked our head delta Gil to take me out of the pack house. It only took a few seconds before Gil showed up. “Lock her up in the dungeon!” Despite all these unfair treatment, I wasn't able to fight back because my wolf was currently in great pain, suffering from my mate's betrayal. Soon, I found myself in the cold and dark dungeon. Staring at the steel bars of the prison cell, I thought they were simply made from strong materials. But I got burned immediately as my fingers touched the bar. They had wolfsbane coatings!Seconds later, my nose picked up the natural scent of Cohen. I found him standing outside my cell, with one of his hands in the pocket of his jeans. “I never want this to happen to you, Eero. You're my mate. I still care for you, but I have to marry the future Alpha of this pack. Unfortunately, it's not you.” “You know you'll be cursed by the Moon Goddess for cheating on your mate, right? You'd have an miserable life because of this!” I gave him a wicked look.“Oh please, Eero. You're making me laugh. Clearly, you are the miserable one here.” "Howl!!!!" My wolf purred as I felt a strike of pain in my chest. She didn't allow my mate to talk to me in this way. “Did you just try to reject me? But I could still feel the bond… Can you feel it too?” Cohen asked me, his eyes glowing tenderness. But in the blink of an eye, I found that tenderness gone. What greeted me was that deadpan and cold look. I must have seen it wrong. After everything that he did, one thing was for sure. He no longer cared about me. “Do you really love Serra, Cohen? Or you're just doing this for the sake of your pack?” I asked. Just this once, I wished that he'd be completely honest with me.Eero's perspective“Yes, I do. I love her very much. While I live happily with her, you'll suffer from our weakening bond. So you see? You're the one cursed by the Moon Goddess, Eero.”My wolf felt so weak that I had to lie flat on the cold floor of the dungeon, biting my lower lip in frustration. Just as I was about to close my eyes and turn my back against the bar, I picked up the scent of Serra. "How is your new sleeping quarter, my dearest sister? Are you liking it here so far? Throughout the territory of Moon River Pack, this place suits you best, for it reeks of unpleasant smell just like you!" Serra chuckled. With my eyes closed, I tried to convince myself that she was not actually standing in front of my prison cell. But with her scent being all over the place, I could hardly calm down.To make things worse, she kept provoking me."I really can't take your arrogance any more, bitch! You're already locked up in here! Yet you still acted like you're superior to me?" Having en
Eero's perspective"A d-damn whore? I am your daughter, mom! How can you insult me like that? I know I'm never your favorite, but really, mom? Even when you caught Trevor and Serra red-handed, you'd still toss the blame on me?" Anger sparked in her eyes as she cut the distance between us within just one step. Then she taunted me with her finger. "My daughter? Do you know what I hate hearing the most? Do you know I've kept begging the Moon Goddess to be merciful, so I wouldn't hear those words anymore?"Luna Vera probably had saw the pain that crossed my eyes, because I noticed that she made a subtle nod. "Yes, those words. I hate hearing you call me mother. I hate it whenever I'm reminded that you're my daughter, because you bring nothing but disgrace to our family. You should have died that night. We shouldn't have taken care of you. If only I knew you'd always cause us trouble, I would have chosen to abandon you that day!" She said between gritted teeth. There was no trace of her
Eero's perspectiveI was then taken out of the dungeon by several omegas for a bath, which I refused to have. But being held by those she-wolves, I couldn't fight back. "I didn't know you're hiding these curves underneath your horrid clothing," Luna Vera commented. For the first time, she was delighted to see me. I could even see how proud she was for how I turned out looking this fine after she made me wear this lacy white silk dress. "If you want to make me proud of you, then do this wholeheartedly, Eero. You'll make no fuss and leave with them obediently, as if you're doing this according to your will." She whispered to my ears softly, as if attempting to enchant me to buy her evil plan. Just as I was about to open my mouth and say something, a sob escaped my lips. "No-uh. I don't want to hear any more of your crying, Eero." Luna Vera pressed her forefinger against my lips quickly. "You won't be so selfish to see the cruel Alpha burn our pack down, right? Do you want Alpha Clau
Eero's perspectiveUtter shock was an understatement of the way that everyone looked at me. I bit my lower lip and didn't dare to look up to Alpha Claudius. “What's this supposed to mean, Alpha Ameo? Do you mean to insult Alpha Claudius and Blood Moon?" The man next to Alpha Claudius asked. He must be Alpha Claudius' beta and right-hand man, given his reaction and the pinned-up crest on his chest. “Beta Caspian. I-I don't know where she got those marks. But I know clearly that my daughter Eero, is still a virgin, just as I promised!” Alpha Ameo said, stuttering. Claudius, the said cruel Alpha, remained silent while his beta did all the questioning. But I could feel him staring at me, his eyes never leaving me. “Then explain the marks.” The beta sounded cold and fire-eating.“I really don't know, Beta. Those are probably insect bites she got from her patrolling duties.” My father Alpha Ameo continued to lie even when it was crystal clear that the beta in front of him would never buy
Eero's perspectiveAs the chaos escalated in the pack's great hall, Feline, in the heat of fury, attempted to hit Serra even harder after stripping her clothes off, but got stopped by Luna Vera.I jolted in my spot when I felt a hand grabbed my arm, tugging me outside the hall. “Where are you going to take me?” I asked the very same man who had handed the katana to Beta Caspian earlier. “You're leaving with us.” His tone was ice-cold.I looked at him, unsure whether I needed to fight back or not. Subconsciously, I stole a glance back at the hall, only to find Alpha Ameo and Luna Vera doing their best to protect Serra from Feline's attack. “I-I haven't even said goodbye to my family yet. If you're taking me away with you, this will be the last time I see them. J-Just please let me say goodbye to them at least,” I bargained in a calm voice. Annoyance flashed through the delta's brown eyes. He was about to drag me away to the double doors of the great hall when he let go of me all of
Eero's perspectiveDays have passed since I had that talk with the cruel Alpha, but I couldn't seem to forget about it. It was etched in my head like a curse that I couldn't run away from. "Eero." A familiar woman in her mid-forties called my name when my mind was bothered by that talk.I looked up, greeting her eyes that radiated motherly warmth. "You didn't have your breakfast, and now you're not eating your lunch either? How are you gonna recover if you cannot get any nutrition?" She asked, slightly annoyed and frustrated because I was being a pain in her ass. "I-I don't want to get better, Miss Cielo. I'd rather like my wolf to stay weak until it can no longer keep me alive. I want to die," I told her calmy, finally admitting what really was running through my mind. "Don't be silly." Miss Cielo stopped me in haste while looking behind her back, horrified that someone could hear me. "How could you say you wish to die when you're a breeder? Don't you know the honor of being an A
Eero's perspectiveHe wasn't smiling. The grim look was still up on his face, but I could feel his sincerity.Because of my mate's betrayal together with my sister and my family giving me off to the Alpha like a broodmare, I should have learned my lesson. I should never trust anyone again. Anyone who wasn't myself was not worthy of my trust and this man standing before my eyes was labeled by everyone as the cruel Alpha. But I wanted to trust him. My wolf was telling me that we could trust him, at least while I was staying here as his breeder. "How can I be certain that you will do exactly as you say, Alpha Claudius?" I asked. It was a relief that I managed to say those without stuttering or my voice breaking out of nervousness. "You have my word," he said as if those should be enough for me, but it was not. And yet, I knew that I was not entitled to ask a follow-up question to him. I grabbed the spoon from the bed and then slowly crawled to where my food was. I heard the Alpha cli
Eero's perspective I rolled to the left side of my bed. I pulled my comforter closer to my body with closed eyes. The silence that conquered my room made it possible for me to hear how heavy and noisy I breathed, and it started to bother and ultimately, annoyed me too. I sat up from my bed and my eyes jumped straight to the closed door of my room. I heaved a sigh and then my eyes stayed on the window. It's a full moon tonight. The sky was a bit cloudy for my liking, but I couldn't help but smile after I realized that those clouds looked like the moon's blanket. Not far from where I was staying was the Alpha's residence. They were going to attack and wipe out an entire pack. They must have done something wrong and irredeemable for Alpha Claudius to come up with such a decision. In the midst of musing about the Alpha of Blood Moon Pack, I heard the door to my room click open. Seconds after that, the scent of a mateless lycan whiffed my nose. “W-What are you doing here?” I asked
