Zachary asked gingerly, "You're awake?"

Rainie remained wary as he stared at her.

After overhearing his conversation with Irene, she was enlightened about a great many things despite the lack of words.

She had lost her memory because people tried to kill her but failed, and the mother of the man before her was involved.

"What do you want now?" She glared at him.

"I told you—this woman was your junior in med school and your best friend. Let her tell you about yourself, and you'd know that I'm not lying."

Rainie was laughing inwardly.

Not lying? He did not want her to regain her memories!

"Fine, I'll meet her." She relented.

"Okay, good," Zachary happily passed her a pair of loafers. "Put these on. She's waiting in the living room.
