The ground shook and I saw how large vines crawled inside the hall. I looked at Queen Romina and saw her eyes turned to fiery green. I didn’t waste time and made my own move. I formed the dragon’s bow—a blazing bow that could make a fire arrow that could burn anything. I aimed Ren who’s now cutting the large vines attacking him. I thought it would hit him, but just when it was about to hit the part of his chest where his heart lies, he moved as fast as lightning.
He threw a ball of dark energy towards Queen Romina that slammed her to the wall. It all happened too fast, I wasn’t able to move.
The queen coughed blood and my lips parted. I quickly ran towards her side. That was a big blow, it must have badly injured her.
“Mother, are you alright?”
She struggled to give me a nod but I know she can no longer fight with her condition. Her body is weak. During those days she locked herself, she hadn’t eaten anything. If she would receive another blow from Ren, I’m afraid her body won’t be able to take it.
“You should stay back, Mother. I will fight him as much as I am allowed to. I’m sure there are people coming to help us.” I glared at Ren. He must be lying when he said that Demitri and the rest are dead. That couldn’t be possible. King Arthur was with them and I trust Demitri and Martin’s skills in fighting. There’s no way they would be defeated by this bastard.
“But Ophelia, you can’t…” she trailed off and her gaze drifted down to my abdomen.
I know. I’m afraid, too. I’m afraid that I would put my child’s life in a big risk, but if I would do nothing all of us will be killed here. I just need to be careful while buying time.
“I can’t just leave and let you sacrifice yourself for us, Mother. Demitri will never forgive me if I do that.”
“He will not forgive me too if anything will happen to you and your child. And I will also never forgive myself if that happens. You are already a daughter to me, Ophelia, and the child you are bearing is my first grandchild, the heir to the throne. If someone is to be sacrificed, it should be me and not either of you.”
“What a dramatic scene this is,” Ren suddenly butt in.
I threw a ball of fire to him but he dodged and smirked at me.
“You heard Her Majesty. She wants to die in your stead. Such a touching act, isn’t it? If I were you, I would choose to save myself, dear Ophelia. What’s wrong if the queen dies, anyway? She’s weak and getting old. Without her and her bloodline, you can have the throne for yourself. I can be your king and we can rule the world together.” It was followed by his burst of laughter.
I clenched my fist so hard I felt like I would break my own fingers. I stood in front of Queen Romina, holding my blazing bow.
“You are not qualified to be a king. You will never be,” I said before I sent him a rain of dragon arrows.
His evil laughter echoed as he blocked the arrows with his sword. It pissed me more seeing how he’s enjoying this. I figured he’s not just an evil asshole but also a lunatic.
“I am already the king of Frostville, Ophelia. And soon I will also be the king of this kingdom and will later on be the king of all kingdoms. I’m giving you a choice. If you marry me, I will give you the world as my queen. Be wise, sweetheart. Choose wisely.”
“You talk too much.” I hissed and stomped on the ground. Fire flowed from where I was standing towards where Ren was.
He leaped and launched an attack. He must have figured it out that I only want to fight him in long range. I was about to move to defend myself but my lips fell open when I couldn’t.
I braced myself for the pain it would give me, but to my surprise, I heard Raja’s growl and Ren was slammed to the opposite wall.
‘That was close, My Lady. I apologize,’ Raja said. ‘His pet is old and quite experienced.’
“No. You just came on time.”
I hurried to Queen Romina and helped her stand.
“We need to leave, Mother.” If only I’m not pregnant, I know I stand a chance against Ren but I couldn’t take the risk. At this point, the only thing we could do is escape and seek for help.
“Wait,” Queen Romina said and closed her eyes for a moment. Her forehead creased and tried to concentrate as if she was trying to talk to someone in her mind.
“What was that?” I asked when she was done.
“I relayed some message through the nature. I hope it will reach Rousiana soon and your father will come to help us.”
Right. Father could help. He’s a king and has his own men. But it will take time if they would travel through land. Orion could help since he could make a portal but he’s not in the kingdom at the moment. Lucia and him are in the West Rail and will stay there for the next months to make contributions in the newly built academy.
“I hope so. But for now, we should leave.”
She nodded and I was about to guide her out when I heard Raja’s pained growl.
My eyes widened when I looked at him. Ren is floating in the air with his sword pierced through Raja’s chest.
“No!” I cried.
My tears fell when I saw the glowing symbol in the blade. Even if it was the first time I saw it, I was sure… it was the Soul Sealing sword.
My knees trembled.
‘I apologize if I failed to protect you, My Lady. Till we meet again…’ Raja said to my mind and it was the last time I heard his voice.
Raja slowly vanished and returned to a red smoke. It then went back to my necklace, and all I was able to do was watch the last trace of him vanish in thin air.‘Raja, are you there?’ I asked through our mind link, hoping that he’s just in the necklace and still could talk to me.But his response didn’t come. Not even his usual growl when he doesn’t feel like answering my question or when I’m doing something stupid. All I hear was silence. Empty silence that made me feel so cold inside.“Your annoying pet is now sealed, dear Ophelia. He can’t interfere my business anymore,” Ren said evilly. With tears in my eyes, I tried to talk to Raja again, but there was no answer. He was really sealed into endless sleep and I don’t have the least bit idea how to awaken him. Even King Arthur and Queen Romina thought that there was no way to awaken David. They said that the seal can only be broken by the one wh
“The big bad wolf stood in front of the third little pig’s house. He tried to hit and blow it down, but he simply couldn’t do it as the house was made of bricks, indestructible and couldn’t be blown down. Furious of his fail, he sought for another way and saw the chimney. He climbed his way up to the roof and slipped down the chimney, only to fall right into the fireplace and burn his whole tail. He hurriedly ran out of the house and never dared to bully the three little pigs again.”Reading the story, twenty-year-old Luke, made sure his words were clear and loud enough to be heard. His lowered his tone eventually at the end of the story, trying to lure his listener to sleep. However, he could not tame the energy of the five-year-old kid.Luke had spent an hour and half reading twenty stories in the storybook, with “The Three Little Pigs” as the last one, leaving his mouth dry and drowsy after so much talking. But the child lying to him remained wide awake, not even showing the slight
"What is this?" I asked Landon when he brought me to an old manor somewhere in north Manchester.Right after he had killed Maximilian, he killed his two wives and Maximilian's people were killed by Henry and Landon's other men. We left the place shortly. Then the day after, Landon brought me in this place with me having no idea what business are we going to do in this place."Your ancestor's manor. This is owned by Elena Ross, the mother of Elizabeth," Landon replied."Elena Ross? The name doesn't ring a bell. As far as I know, Grandma Elizabeth's mother named Celestine, not Elena.""Celestine…" He nodded. "Must be the name she used when she started a new life with her husband.""You mean she changed her name? But what for?" If it was Landon the one who said it, I'm sure it is not a fallacy or something. I don't know why it come to him, I trust easily. Why would he lie about this matter anyway?"Follow me," Landon said and walked inside the manor.I followed him and saw that the insid
“Henry? Why Henry when you can train me yourself?” I asked Landon because I really want him to train me himself. I know he is skilled enough to do that. He is powerful and very strong so I don’t understand now why he wants Henry to train me in heavier training when he already trained me in some basics before. I mean what is wrong with that? I am sure he is capable enough to teach me everything I need to learn. Not that it can guarantee that I will learn everything within three days because that is really impossible and I know that, but let's just say I am more comfortable around him than anyone else. Not that Henry makes me uncomfortable. He is a great man and a very loyal one, of course. But can’t I have my husband train me so we can have more time together? I mean who knows what will happen three days from now? No one knows what will happen—well, except those vampire/s who have the ability of precognition—but except them, no one knows.“It’s just, what we did in the past was only th
My head was aching badly when I opened my eyes. I knew at once that I was in a grand unfamiliar room I've never visited before. A golden chandelier was hanging above and the intricate details of the furnitures and every corner reminded me of the Victorian style. But even though it looked classic, it also has a bit of modern touches.Sure, it was a good place to sleep in, but where was this place exactly? As I rose slowly in a sitting position, the double doors of the room opened. A man in an all black attire went in. He was wearing a black turtleneck, black slacks and black overcoat. One look and I knew he was close to my age. A few years older than me at least. He was tall, lean and his chest was broad. He looked strong. My gaze then climbed to his face and found a pair of raven brooding eyes. His features were marked with hardness, especially his angular jaw that brought enough manliness that his face needed. His nose was high-bridged, lips thin and pale red, and skin was pale but s
What did he say? Did I hear him right? As if he was able to read the question in my face, he said, "You heard me right, Eve. Your mother, Doris Walters, and your father, George Delluci, are dead. It was reported as murder and still under investigation, but I'm sure it was Vienna's doings.""No…" I shook my head. "That's not true! That is… impossible!""If you are still not convinced, see it for yourself," he said flatly as he pointed the bedside table with a nod.I turned to the table and saw what he was pointing out. I moved once, very swiftly, that it barely took a fraction of second. It was newspapers. One was from Lynnwood, the other was from Dad's city.I froze when I saw the headlines of both newspapers. I felt something within me, something like scorching. I could feel the venom at the tip of my teeth, and the urge to destroy everything.I stood and the next second, I was already on the door but the man was then beside me, stopping me from going out."Where are you going?" he a
“He is Henry, my most trusted person,” Landon introduced me to Henry. After we had made a deal to get what we both want, he decided to introduce me to his people first.I figured that his house here in Manchester looked like an ancient luxury manor, it can even pass as a Victorian palace. He also had a lot of househelps that were obviously vampires. Of course why would he get human househelps. That would only make a problem because of the kind of lifestyle he’s living in.He only introduced me to few people. Henry, his right hand, butler and all around assistant. Beatrice, the head of the househelps in the manor and is ranked the second after Henry. Her name really sound old fashioned, and trust me, she really is. She wasn’t the sexy type of female subordinate in movies that becomes the rival of the female lead in movies. Actually, I can’t guess her vampire age, but in human age, probably she’s around late forties. But in spite of that, she still looks very beautiful. I guess it must
"I am Lily, Miss Eve. I will assist you in dressing up and in doing your hair," the woman in uniform who went in my room. She was tall, a little taller than me, blonde, white and beautiful. There's no doubt that she is a vampire."Thank you."It is the day of the wedding. I look into the mirror with me wearing the grand wedding gown I had chosen. Not that I want something grand to wear in marrying someone I don't love, but the thing is, all of those dresses that Landon prepared for me were all grand—not just grand, but very grand. But even if I don't want any of those, I have no choice but to pick one, so we can go on with the wedding part and get done with it.The one I had chosen is perfectly fit to my body. It is very intricate and has crystals all over the bodice. My hair was done in updo with few tendrils intentionally left in front for the classic style. My make up was done smoothly and perfectly. Not heavy but not very light, just enough to emphasize my facial features. I didn
