Many days passed in a seemingly peaceful succession. I had gotten to know some other slaves in the mansion. One of them told me about how she was separated from her brother, who was put into the human farm. I wondered what it was like living in the factory, but then again I didn't want to find out. This morning things were quite the same. We got our wrists cut as usual, except me. Then the vampire, who we first met, came up to me in the kitchen. He dressed in his elegant clothes as I had remembered.
For a moment, his violet eyes seemed to linger on my face longer than necessary.
"You," he said. His pale stony face held high. "From now on, you're assigned to serve whenever my mistress sends for you."
My heart sank further than it usually did. What could I say about that? Nothing. I had no choice but to nod in acceptance. Obviously, this piece of information depressed me even more.
"Now hurry up, take the blood with you," he said, beckoning to me. I picked up my tray and followed him.
At the dining hall, I saw my mistress and Anastasia were already there. They sat at the same table but far away from each other as if they couldn't bear to breathe the same air. I walked slowly towards them. The one, who bit me, didn't look at me, and neither the one who kissed me. I tried to imitate a robot, pushing all emotions out of my mind. Emotions are bad when you are a slave. They don't help you anything but make you more miserable.
I put the wine glasses down in the middle of the table. But I had a dilemma of who I should serve first. Then I stole a glance at the quiet Ana. She was having a piece of toast and jam. I had to look again to see if it was actual jam, the kind humans would eat.
Can vampires eat human food, too? I thought. I had only heard about their blood lust and savagery. This small innocent part of their existence confused me.
"Sit down," A familiar voice said, but I didn't know whom it came from at first. Then I realized Alexandra was looking at me. A flicker of mischief gleamed from her golden eyes.
"Y-yes?" I gulped.
"I said sit down." She gestured to the chair next to her.
Even Ana looked up from her plate to us. Her porcelain skin seemed to flush a little under the tension. I gingerly took a seat as instructed. My mistress turned her face to me and smiled kindly.
"Have you heard about your new position from Victor?" she asked. I didn't know who Victor was, but I assumed he must be the wax-looking vampire who came to me last morning, so I nodded back.
"Good, now you will have to stay near me," she said. "And even eat with me."
I looked up with questions orbited around my head, but I couldn't tell if Alex was joking. Then she got up and walked towards me. Anastasia looked on from where she was with uneasy eyes. Her hand clutched the spoon, and I saw it starting to bend out of shape. Alex took another seat near my chair and pushed a glass of blood towards me. I stared at the wine glass with red liquid stirring inside and then looked back at Alex.
"I want you to drink this," she said. My eyes went wide with shock.
"Sister," Ana said with a heavy tone.
"Relax, I'm just teaching her something," my mistress said then she turned to me again. "Drink it."
"What?" I found my voice again.
"You heard me."
"No, I won't."
Suddenly, her hand grabbed the back of my neck. Her cold fingers entangled my hair as she pulled my head slightly backward. Ana rose up from her seat.
"Stay out of it!" My mistress yelled and pointed a finger at her sister. "Or I will make it worse."
Anastasia gritted her teeth, but she didn't dare to move. Somehow I felt it had something to do with my safety than her sister's threat. Alexandra turned to me again.
"You want to drink the blood from this glass, or you want me to drink the blood from you?" Alex hissed at my ear. Her nose traced over my hot cheek. Tears ran down my face as I shut my eyes and reached out to take the wine glass. My hand shook so bad, I almost dropped it.
Alex released me and smiled in encouragement.
I brought the glass lip to mine. The smell was almost unbearable, it sickened me. I tried to hold my breath and took a plunge. The red blood flowed into my mouth like poison. The coppery taste quickly enveloped my tongue and traveled down my throat. I heaved nauseously in the process, but Alexandra caught my hand and forced me to keep drinking until the glass was empty.
I dropped the glass down on the table and clutched my throat in disgust.
"Good girl." Alex beamed brightly.
"Why are you doing this to me?" I asked between sobs.
"I want you to remember this taste," she said and smiled, "because someday you will change your mind about it."
"Enough of that!" cried Anastasia from across the table. "If you want to punish her, you already have. Just leave her alone!"
She was breathing hard. I could see the pulse on her neck beating. Alex stood up and placed her hands on my shoulders. She kissed the top of my head before I could flinch away.
"You're jealous?" Alex said with a mockery leer. "Well, you should be. I've found a rare gem here. And I'll polish her up. She won't be rough like this for long."
My mistress tracked her cold fingertips down my cheek. The hair on my arms stood on ends.
"Please, Alexandra," Ana turned into a pleading tone, "I beg you. She's just a child."
"Innocent and pure," My mistress agreed. "Just the way I like it."
Anastasia rushed forward in a flash, but my mistress grabbed me by the hand and pulled me to her. She was already behind my back when Ana reached us.
"Oh, I wouldn't do that if I were you," My mistress said as her hand wrapped around my neck. "Step back or I'll snap her pretty little neck."
Ana bared her white teeth and hissed like a wildcat. The way her eyes stared at her sister would have sent any human running. But as she looked at me, being helpless in Alexandra's hand she turned away, defeated. My mistress leaned over my shoulder and whispered into my ear.
"See? No one can touch you, my little doll," she said. "I still have another game for us, but instead of playing dress up, let's play undress."
Upon hearing that, Anastasia's face snapped back at us. Her face was filled with shock. She wanted to do something, but she knew she couldn't. Her eyes looked at me as if it was going to be the last time.
"Come on, sweet girl," My mistress said to me. "We're not going to do it in this room. Someone is having trouble controlling her jealousy."
Not until then that the terror began to seep into my consciousness. A panic coursed up from the pit of my stomach. Alexandra dragged me by my elbow. I turned to Anastasia for help, but she looked like she was lost on another planet. She just stood there like one of those a marble statue, looking dazed.
As we were leaving that room, I felt like I was being sucked into a black hole and could never come back.
Iwas in my mistress's room again. It was colder than I had remembered, or it could be just my own instinctive fear that made me shiver all over. Alexandra pulled me inside after she locked the huge heavy door.I glanced around in panic, but as usual, all the windows were tightly shut. No escape route anywhere. I felt like a trapped rat waiting for the cat to gut me alive. Alexandra turned her perfect figure to look at me again. She smiled with a glint of wickedness in her eyes."Don't even think about —"I ran to the small library as fast as my feet could take me then slammed the door shut and locked it."Wow, you must have been a marathon runner," Alexandra mocked from the other side of the room. I saw he
AlexandraThat's funny. Why do I even bother to think about it? It's not like I have never killed before. Avery Pierce is just an inferior and stubborn human girl. She deserved to be punished. I don't see why I shouldn't torture her. The sound of her screams delights me. Her blood whispers to me. But then there is something I couldn't wrap my mind around. Why did I feel like there were insects crawling inside my stomach when I saw her and my sister together? And why of all the whys, why do I want to have Avery more than anything now?~*~AveryI woke up to the bright sunlight shining throu
AnastasiaAvery's big brown eyes shone with a deep longing that I couldn't refuse it. We walked hand in hand back to the bed and sat there facing each other. I kept staring at her doll-like face, so innocent and so adorable. My gaze made her blush bright red.She looked down, hiding her eyes under those long black lashes. The wind blew through the windows. Silk curtains flicked gently, making the only sound in the room. Then Avery looked up again and moved closer until our knees touched. She swallowed hard before reaching her hands over to unbutton my shirt, but I knew she was nervous. Her hands were shaking so much; I had to grab them in mine.
AveryThe bed was empty when I woke up. An immediate anxiety washed over me as I was alone and scared."Anastasia!" I called out, but there was no answer. I threw off the cover and sprinted out of the bed. "Anasta..."To my relief, she appeared in the room. But she wore nothing but a white towel wrapped around her glowing body. Her blonde hair was wet. The water droplets on the skin made her glow. I froze as she came to me quickly. Her face looked concerned."I'm right here, Avery. Are you not well?" She brought her hands to my cheeks. I couldn't breathe, not with her in a towel was this close to me. I found myself staring at her ches
Iwish things would stay the same forever when I was with Anastasia. We could live in our little house and be content. There was only one problem. I had never seen her drinking human blood like Alex, but that doesn't mean she could go days without it.I had offered her my blood, but she refused and went on a quick hunt near the mountain slope. I didn't want her to leave me alone, but I also didn't want to make it hard on her eitherAfter Anastasia left, I stayed inside doing some mundane things around the house while I waited. Suddenly, I heard a knock on the door. My heart almost leaped out of my chest. But excitement got the best of me. I rushed to the door and opened it."Ana, you came back quite early today,"
My jaw dropped. Anastasia's girlfriend? The thought stabbed at me like a blade. I felt something akin to a heart attack. I couldn't breathe. My stomach churned, and I felt as if I was about to throw up. I couldn't believe it. But the woman was standing right before my eyes. She was real, and she was here, now claiming back what was hers. Why did Anastasia do that to me? Why she never told me she already has a lover? Maybe I was just another slave to her. Whatever we had was merely a sexual enjoyment. It was too easy for me to fall in love. I was too stupid to lose myself. With the thoughts screaming in my head, hot tears streamed down my cheeks. I tried to swallow the pain, but it was too late to stop my heart from breaking.Nikol kept staring at me with her cold eyes.
AlexandraAs soon as the limo stopped in front of the mansion, I grabbed Avery by the wrist and dragged her out of the car. She almost tripped on the way but I kept walking until we reached the main hall. I turned to the guards."Call the maids," I said. "Bring her to clean up and get her back to my room.""No!" Avery cried in terror, struggling with my tight grip. "Please, don't do this to me.""Shut up!" I yelled at her. "I can't stand another minute smelling the scent of my sister on you anymore. This time I won't let you get away from me again. You'll see."Avery winced, but she
AnastasiaIcarried the little creature in my arms, making sure that it wouldn't get hurt or slip away. Two long white ears popped out from the sweater I had wrapped around it. I looked down on the fluffy white ball with a smile. Avery was going to like this little fella. The rabbit twitched its small pink nose and kept staring back at me with curious eyes."Don't worry, little man," I said. "I won't eat you."I walked into the house and went straight to the bedroom. The light was off, leaving only a faint glow of the moon through the window. Avery must have been tired of waiting for me. I felt bad for having to leave her alone for too long.
*After many requests, the Sequel of the Romanov Princess is finally out! It's under the title, 'Anastasia Romanov' and now you can go and add the book to your library ! Yay!* **If you like fantasy stories and not to mention gxg, you can check out my new fantasy book, "Daughter of the Naga".Caution: that story might cause you joy. Here are some fun facts about The Romanov Princess: -The original title of this story is My Vampire Mistress. - The short name for Anastasia in Russian would be "Nastya" or "Nastas" not Ana. And did you know the short-name for Alexandra isn't "Alex", but in Russia we would call her, "Sasha". LOL. - The two sisters only appeared as fictional characters at first, but one of my great readers suggested I make the story more historical, and that's when I realized how coincident it was that the c
As I sat inside an open-air gazebo, I watched the salty gentle breeze blew over the palm trees. Above the clear aqua-blue water, I watched herons filled up the tropical plants. Others went soaring in the high blue sky, going out of their nests for the morning hunt. Little birds chirped away over the blinding white beach.I breathed in the fresh humid air of serenity and tried to soak up the new reality I was thrown into. Then a musical voice drifted through the gentle wind. A new rush of vibrating zeal burst through my veins. I knew that sweet delicate tone. My face lighted up into a smile, already anticipating the presence of my other half."Alex!"I stood up and turned around to find a stunning girl in her beautiful pink pastel dress. It flowed and rippled over her e
AnastasiaIpunched one of the royal guards hard. He stumbled back and yelped in pain. I kicked the other in the stomach and flipped another off my back to the ground. My hands twisted his hand at the joints until I heard a crack. The poor guard cried on the floor. I was mad with anger and heartache.By then, no one dared to touch me anymore. Their fear of getting hurt like their fellows was visible on their hard faces."Your highness, please forgive us. We're only following the order," they apologized, bowing in surrender."Your job is to do as I say!" I yelled. "Now open the freaking door now or I'll rip all your heads off!"
AlexandraIwas drifting beyond this physical world of time and space. Until all my senses were wide awake, like the first blossom of spring. Like a spark of music to wake me from this endless dream. One touch at a time formed a sensation. A burst of electrifying jolts brought back fragments of my thoughts one by one. My hands wrapped around a small frame of someone. I felt like a newborn, suckling with hunger and wants.Ravenous growls echoed from the depth of my stomach. Sinking my teeth deeper, I wanted to get more of this blissful liquid taste. It was like sweet nectar or rich ambrosia to my thirsty mouth. For some reason, everything felt wrong to me. Something about a glowing
Ihad never been so terrified in my life that every breath I took agonized me. The constant craving for the person I longed for and how I might not be able to satisfy its hunger. And now my personal torment was still a never-ending course."Ana," I whispered to Anastasia, who sat near me in the car after we got off the plane."Yes?" she said, turning her face to me."Who did that to Alex?""You don't want to hear about it now,""I've heard from Victor, that someone betrayed her, is that true?" I said. Ana looked at me for a moment and then she nodded."Who's the traitor?"
AveryMy head rested against Anastasia's back as we were riding Stardust back to the mansion. It was getting colder as twilight began to fade. Anastasia had taken off her white coat and draped it around my shoulders. Stardust's footsteps were the only sound we heard through the wood as neither of us said anything. Of course, there was nothing left to say anymore. Finally, the forest fell into the background, and we got back into the backyard garden at last.Ana looked over her shoulder and whispered to me, "Are you alright?""Mmm..." I gave a weak nod."I'm getting off now."I nodded
AlexandraIstood looking at the Moskva River through the window. Saint Basil's Cathedral and the Red Square were in my view to the east. I could see Alexander Garden sprawled out from the west side. But everything felt so empty. Moscow was empty and cold and sad. Russia, Window to the West, was now a depressing sight. But it amazed me how I could still survive without Avery up to this point. It hurt every freaking night. I didn't know how long I could live with this. As if my heart would need a fortress stronger than Kremlin to keep it inside Russia. My heart knew no distance or time, all it was beating for was to be with my loved one. I missed the dizzying happiness with her. I missed her soft skin, her delicious lips, her fragra
NikolThe door creaked and Roza's petite form stepped inside. I rushed over to her and pushed the door shut again. I grabbed Roza by the wrist and led her back into the room."Did anyone see you?" I asked in a low voice."No," she said. "I was alone.""Good." I nodded in relief. "Now tell me what your hunters said about my plan.""Well, it was hard to convince them, but they finally agreed," Roza replied. "I told them what you had told me. When everything comes to an end, you will set our people free. We only wait for your turn."I
Anastasia"Long time no see. Are you up for a good ride today, Stardust?" I said to my thoroughbred horse as I stepped in the barn, a bag of pieces of apple in my hand. Stardust's cotton white coat shone like a puffy morning cloud. The mare hung her head over her stall door and let out an eager whinny in response. Her white mane flowed like raw silk. I reached up to pat her strong shoulder. Stardust's ears twitched in delight as I motioned to our human stable boys to take the horse out.The white mare shook her powerful neck as she walked into a stream of spring sunshine. I took the reins from the stable boy and fed some more apple pieces to the horse."You want to get out and go as mu
