The air around me had become unpleasant the moment Lustre had to leave, as much as she was antsy for reasons I didn't understand when she was seated beside me, she was the least annoying thing about having to sit through the ball.

I only honored Silvercrest’s ancient traditions that fostered healthier pack relations by organizing elaborate balls because it was a required formality, and I was a leader that followed the rules of tradition by the book especially after being brought up and nurtured by an elder.

Yet, for once I had a date to the ball that I didn't absolutely despise and I would've loved to enjoy her company. At first when I’d noticed that she was nervous, I’d felt inclined to take her mind off whatever had her looking so unsettled.
