The grey wolf’s chest was moving at a rapid pace as he stared down at the dead body. The way he was looking at it made my own body tremble. It wasn’t the look of surprise or horror like a new pup would have, but one of someone that had killed before. He looked proud. He turned his cold yellow eyes to me and I froze. Why had I insisted on watching this fight? Why hadn’t I ran when I had the chance? The air around us grew dense until it became hard for me to breathe. Was it my turn to die?

He stared at me for a moment longer as if he was secretively throwing the fact that he had just killed in my face. Just when I thought he was finally going to snap and turn on me he did something completely unexpected. He turned around and walked away.

At first all I could do was stare mindlessly back at his retreating hide thinking that maybe it was just a trick, that there was no way a killer wolf like him would leave an easy kill like me to just live! Then the grey wolf disappeared into the brush t

Kayah’s Point of ViewNo, there’s something wrong. Seven should recognize me but why does he act like he never knew me and even knew me?“That’s because the power of the ring hasn’t worn off yet. He couldn’t recognize us yet,” told me warily. Hesitantly, I rubbed my muzzle under his chin. The feeling of his skin touching my fur made me feel all tingly inside and when he lightly touched his hand to the side of my head the feeling spread. He pushed me away forcefully and stared sternly into my eyes.“Will you stop that?” His eyes flickered into something heated. Was he angry? “Just because I protected you from that other wolf doesn’t mean that I need to be thanked, so you can just take your cuddling to someone else.”Embarrassed by his comment I averted my eyes and looked down at the ground. Truthfully the thought of thanking him hadn’t even crossed my mind and now that he mentioned it I felt slightly ashamed. How rude I must seem to not have thanked him for saving my life. Instead I h

Kayah’s Point of viewMy blood was pounding in my ears and my legs sprung out in every direction jerking me to a stop on the hard black ground. The sounds and quick moving objects were so paralyzing that I didn’t even see the car heading straight for me. An ear cracking honk blasted over on my side and I whipped my head in its direction. I had to move. I knew I did but my body was too frozen in fear to do anything. Everything inside of me was screaming for me to do something…anything but all I could do was wait for the car to hit.At the last possible second however someone yanked me off of the road. I yelped at the pain of being grabbed by the fur but the sound didn’t even get the chance to escape my mouth. Strong arms wrapped themselves tightly around me as we fell back onto the sidewalk. Through a small gap I was able to watch as the red metal beast honked again before it sped away.My breathing was so labored that it made my entire body quake with each painful breath. My heart was

Kayah’s Point of ViewThe door creaked in an eerie way as it opened. His Majesty, Seven didn’t even look at me as he walked in and felt his hand around against the wall. He hit a switch and some of the lights flickered on while others stayed dead. The lights revealed a relatively small room with flaky white paint covering the walls and a large staircase. He turned and shut the door before he made his way up the stairs. I followed hesitantly behind him with my ears perked down at the change of scene. I had never been to a human den before and now I know the reason why. We went up a couple of levels before he put his keys into another door. He opened the door to reveal a large room with more bad lighting but unlike the other one it had stuff in it. The same flaky white paint still covered the walls but on that were some photos and shelves. The room had two worn green couches and a large square shiny box that was tucked away in the corner.“Stay here.”I twisted my head and watched as he

Kayah’s Point of View Seven’s face hardened. “Why do you know Seven? Seven died a long time ago. At least died inside. So I’d like you to call me Six. Died inside? What does he mean? “O-okay, Six. I’m sorry,” I said and gave him a gentle smile. Something in his eyes flickered and instinctively I took a step back. A growl worked its way up in his throat before he shot up off of the couch. I yelped as he pushed me down into a sitting position with his teeth bared. “Stop doing that!” My body was trembling under him so badly that his arms were shaking. “Doing what?” I asked innocently. His face instantly turned into a mask of pure rage and I suddenly found two very strong hands gripping onto my upper arms. “Acting all sweet and innocent one minute and then being scared and frightened the next!” I felt my eyes go wide. The grip he held on my arms tightened. I held back a whimper by biting the inside of my cheek. I don’t understand, I thought. If he didn’t want me

Suddenly Six was up off of the couch and walking over to the door that we had both used to come in. Before I could even ask him what was going on he had left slamming the door behind him. I could feel my back stiffen as the herd of footstep ran up the stairs. It was obvious that he didn’t want me around when he confronted those people and I knew that if they were a threat he would have no problem taking care of them but for some reason I couldn’t shake being worried. Slowly the feet stopped moving one by one and I was able to estimate just how many there were. Six. The hair on my neck stood up. Six to one, I didn’t like those odds one bit. I scooted over to the edge of the couch that he had occupied moments ago and stared intently at the door listening carefully for any signs of movement or conversation. Besides the creaking floorboards, loud footsteps, and my own heavy breathing I heard nothing. There was no immediate arguing or words exchanged, just an eerily silence. The more ti

Kayah’ Point of ViewI did as man commanded, I screamed. He cringed at the high pitch of my scream leaving him unprepared and open. While he was distracted I did what any animal did when they were cornered; attacked. The soft flesh on his neck was unprotected by fur which made it easy for my teeth to dig into. Hot bolts spurted into my mouth and against my cheeks as his screams filled the air. I could feel the vibrations from his scream against my teeth like a gentle hum warning me that I hadn’t bitten down on his jugular. He flung his fists around wildly and landed a solid punch on the side of my neck. I clenched my jaw harder down on his neck transferring the throbbing pain into something useful. Every part of my wolf side was working in overdrive; the muscles in my jaw constricting, the adrenaline pumping in my veins, and my fingernails digging into the back of his neck and shoulder holding him in place. By doing all of this more blood gushed into my mouth blocking off my air suppl

Kayah’s Point of ViewSix’a roar had become so loud that the other werewolves Luis had brought along were jarred awake. Each one of them winced and moaned as they picked themselves up off of the ground…all but one. I looked over at him carefully. There was no blood gathered around him or even any bruises. I gasped beside Six at the realization. The awkward position of his neck, the silent heartbeat, and how his back wasn’t rising and falling with each breath should have been a huge give away. When did that happen? My brain was scrambling to form an answer when I remembered. It happened right after Six had called out my name. The deadly snap of this man’s neck had been almost silent against my own racing heartbeat and thundering blood. Guilt swelled inside of my chest. Even though the man had been fighting on Luis’ side I still felt horrible for not noticing his death until now.The other were’s however did not feel the same way. Kayah’s Point of ViewOne of Six’s dark eyebrows shot up and he cocked his head slightly to the side. “For the ice pack? Don’t worry about it.”Although I was grateful for the relief the ice pack had given me that wasn’t what I was thanking him for. I shook my head from side to side. “Well yes thanks for that too but I’m also grateful that you saved me from…from Luis.”The memory of the man was still too fresh in my mind. The skin in which he had touched felt violated and cold, making me shiver. When Luis had me pinned to the wall, I was left completely unguarded and if Six hadn’t intervened when he had I would have been killed. So this time when I looked up into his ocean blue eyes I was silently thanking him again for saving my life.He simply nodded his head, accepting my gratitude without question. “You probably have a lot of questions about how he and I know each other.”No, I don’t. I already knew the way back in your castle. He had said it more like a statement than a quest

“Hmm,” I heard a voice. “She’s in a state that my client wouldn’t like it, Luis,” I heard a voice. It was a male. I couldn’t see him because I was blindfolded. I sniffed him but he didn’t smell like a wolf. The scent was-“Stop sniffing, girl,” I heard the voice said, annoyed. “We were all wearing some perfume to mask our scent so stop doing it. It’s annoying.”And then I heard a laugh. “Oh, don’t mind her, Jim. Let’s just get down to business,” I heard Luis. “Alright. Three million dollars for her as we agreed upon.”“Yep,” Luis said.”“My client has deposited the exact amount now and I’m taking the merchandise to him. Kindly fill up this agreement to avoid unseen problem in the future,” “Alright.”I heard some scratching of pens. “There you go,” Luis said and probably looked at Brian who was holding me. “Take her to our client’s car.”Brian started to guide me. I tried to fight but he was too strong for me given he was an Alpha bloodline. “Don’t make this hard enough, Kayah. Ju

“Oh, you’ve been a bad bad girl, Kayah,” Luis smirked and then he signaled the three men to show me what would happen if I disobeyed him again. My bruised body now slumped, shackled to a chair. After they caught me trying to escape, the trio of men beat me senseless and tossed me into this room to waste away. I could still feel the sting of Brian’s fist smashing into my cheek and the blow of Luis’ boot driving into my gut. Clumps of brown hair had been ripped from my aching scalp, Bob was responsible for that. These men, these tormentors, did far worse than just hurt me. They claimed it was to teach me obedience. To crush my spirit. And they nearly did.“What happened to fresh, not scratched and in a good condition, Boss?” Nate asked when he entered the room again. “She’s a wolf. She can heal,” Luis rolled his eyes. “You really hate this woman a lot?” Nate asked. “Not her but her damn mate,” Luis replied. “Is it also tied to her?” “Whatever their problems were, I’m out of it. The man with tousled brown hair and piercing forest-green eyes spoke from across the room. Though he didn’t raise his voice, his imposing presence made it feel like he was right beside me, shouting.“What did I say about talking back?” he growled, beginning to close the distance between us. Before he could get far, the second man extended an arm, halting him with a sharp, warning glance. He muttered something too quiet to catch, then slowly started toward me instead. His long black hair framed a pale, severe face, and his deep blue eyes locked onto mine with unsettling calm.“I suggest you listen to him, Kayah.” I winced hearing my name leave his lips. “You should understand something, we’ve planned this carefully. Your little help is gone, and no one will help you, let alone save you from your impending doom. No one’s coming for you. Which makes this very convenient for us. She told us that no one will care enough to look at you.”Now kneeling in front of me, he leaned in, grabbed m

As soon as the scream escaped my lips I knew that all hope was lost. “I heard her! This way!” With no other choice I stood up and ran out of the horrible room and I didn’t stop to look where I was going. I only looked up long enough to see the front door I had come through a foot away when strong and rough arms snatched my waist. I screamed once again as the arms took me away from my escape and hauled me to the room at the end of the hall. I fought and kicked with all my strength, grabbing and clawing whatever I could get my hands on. With each futile attempt the arms only grew tighter around me. A door was opened and I was shoved into the room I once heard the voices arguing from. With a gasp I took in the gruesome and horrifying scene in front of me.I landed head first after being thrown into the room. I gawked at the scene of terrors that lay in front of me. In front of me was a still and lifeless body. The last of the body's blood puddled around the girl as it leaked from the m

I woke up and felt everything was odd. The room was unusually quiet, so eerie.“Rache?” I called her name but no one was answering. Where the hell is she? I asked myself. I got up, made myself a coffee when I stopped my mug mid-air. Amidst the scent of coffee hitting my nose, I smell something but a scent. It was so strong that it actually overpowered the coffee’s scent. It was them. Damn it. “Rachel!” I screamed but no one answered. I didn't wait for her to answer. I grabbed my phone and ran through the door, looking for a fire exit. Even if the scent was still a mile away, I knew they would eventually catch up with me. So I better run and call Rachel when I think I’m safe. My lungs ached with the force I was putting on them. I never really ran. I wasn't out of shape, but I definitely wasn't athletic. Okay, I’m used to running, but not as urgent as this. I ran when I needed to chase a prey but not the other way around. The closer I drew to my destination the more I couldn't hel

Defeated, I started the journey back to our apartment. I knew she would show up eventually, just like every other time she left.Letting my mind wander, I turned the corners while walking back to our rented house. I passed street sign after street sign, worn down building after worn down building. The town was old and dusty to say the least. As I walked, I planned out what I would do for the rest of the day. The only thing that kept me going now was that I had to find my son and take him back with me. Time seemed to fly while I thought about the reason why I was away from my pack and to Seven, and after about twenty minutes of breathing in smoke and dirt-filled air, I arrived at the door to the apartment building. The apartment buildings we lived in strongly represented a motel and were the cheapest housing options around. I didn't particularly like it, but it was all we needed so no one would suspect me.Sighing, I walked up the concrete steps and opened the wooden door, only to rev

My pack has decided to end everything and take back what they used to own, their dignity, they castle. I want him and neither would I give you to her,” I said when I’m done telling him Hailey was actually Lunar and that she tricked him. Seven was speechless when he heard it but it didn’t change the fact that she has our child. Seven took the alpha position and talked to the pack mate, the rogues who had been in the human settlement howl, ready to reclaim the throne and their home. “Are you sure about this Red?” I asked her to utter a spell, a spell that would prevent Lunar from tricking Seven again. Now that Red has become apparent, he told us he was actually ex-deity and used to side with Lunar back then. He admitted Lunar was delusional and told us about her tale, about her falling in love with Fenrir only to break her heart in the process. He

It was still warm.My fingers tingle..Then, I heard something.A whisper. Soft. Like a breeze.“Kayah…”I looked up. The trees shifted slightly. Then it stopped.Six didn’t hear it. Only me.“Bitch,” I said and she just laughed. “You couldn’t have that’s you took me son?”No answer.I heard a chuckle like the bitch was amused. “You so Hailey,” Lunar said. “I don’t care about whatever image you took,” I said. “Seven and I had a history.”I swallowed hard. “Maybe it’s time for you to tell him about her.”“Shut up!” I screamed. “Ayah,” Six whispered. “Let's go back.”We returned to Maryan’s.Red was still breathing.
