Rose sat up in bed as Ty dressed. “You’ll be careful? You’re sure you’re going into this with enough back up?” He was heading out to hunt the hunters with several of their pack. This time, she knew no one would go missing.

“Rose, love, I’ve been hunting the hunters for years. I know one thing about these monsters. They are desperate to come out on top, but they don’t want to work for anything. These people want it all handed to them like a reward for existing or being special. Though I’m not sure how they are special.” He was snapping things into place. His gear looked like what many security people would wear, but this gear was shifter safe. These clothes were tear away or stretched with their shifting forms. She hated the feel of the material and would rather not wear anything. But she didn’t fight, so it wasn’t a thing she needed.

“That doesn’t make any sense. But you sound like you’re talking about my father.” Rose had to admit that her father didn’t

Rose was using her phone to look up the auction site and, sure enough, she found the site and a list of their staff. Probably don’t for clients to verify the staff, there were photos and a short resume of the staffs’ specialties and experience. “Beatrix Carver, Specialist in Celtic Lore and Antiquities, Hawthorne Auction House, Vancouver, BC.” Rose snorted at the photo of the old woman’s disapproving sneer. She didn’t look any different from Rose’s memory. Bea, as her father called her, wasn’t her father’s type to take as a lover. So, what did this woman have that her father wanted so badly? Was that her real name? Clearly, she was human and the lore she dealt in, Rose bet was the living, breathing shifter types and her job title was code for the hunter part of the business. How better to say we are killing them until they’re only a story and a few trinkets? Because how much could there be of Celtic antiquities dealing regarding the lore? Or collectors in it, f

  • The Rogue & The Rose   When Plans Fall Apart Things Get Complicated

Ty prowled the border of the town with his pack’s hunting party spread out around them. Making slow progress on to wood edges of town. They barely made a noise as progressed. They fanned these hunters out, making it easy to pick them off but difficult to find each one. What these fools didn’t get was that Ty and his pack fought differently. Many older shifters would claim they were they were dishonourable for learning tricks to fighting in human and wolf forms that included weapons or extensions to their bodies. Ty currently had a set of metal claws held in his very human hands. This way, if questions arose with human authorities, they could explain the claw attacks at least. Currently, there were no dead yet. Only a few injured who decided they’d shot rather than ask questions. The fools actually shot each other. Ty’s man was sitting comfortably in a tree, relaying what he saw so others could step in and pick them up. What Ty didn’t like was these

“What do you mean there’s nothing left? What did they do? How can you be so calm? What are you doing about this, Tyler? This is insane. What is there, someone working inside the council with these humans?” It appalled Rose when Ty informed her of what happened. Her reaction didn’t surprise him, but her words did. Someone inside the council working against them. Where did that idea come from and why would they? The council comprised supernatural creatures. It was their job to stop things like this or prevent them all together. Along with many other things to maintain the secrecy of the supernatural existence. Something like that would defeat their mandate.“Rose, I get this is a shock to you. No one expected this to happen. I highly doubt anyone involved with the council has anything to do with this extreme hunting business. No, they went after them for some reason. It had to do with your father. I can’t see being any other way. Rose, your father, was the dangerous man. A terribl

Heath couldn’t believe Amber was at the gates asking to see him and her friends. The woman almost climbed him like he was a tree on a hot summer day, and she wanted to lounge in his shady branches. That was humiliating, and he was sure that those old women getting their hair and nails done. Why a female wolf shifter needed her nails done confused him to no end. He thought shifting would be difficult or the paint would come right off. There she was. His mind went straight to what she smelt like. Even over all those chemicals in the salon. Standing beside her car, perfectly put together. The light reflecting off her hair, she instantly saw him, then smiled and happily waved to him.His reaction to her hit him securely below the belt. Like all his blood rushed from his brain straight to his crotch. Heath had to resist the urge to adjust himself. Gods, he hoped none of the guys spotted it. He’d never hear the end of how Amber could lead him around by his cock like he was on a leash. As he

Ty got word from Ben they’d found something on an old phone in the rubble that was the office of the Hollow Wood Packhouse. “I’m sending you a copy of a recording from this phone, Ty. I think we can be sure that the hunters didn’t kill Russell, but they may have done something to Jack. It’s sick. I think it’s Russell’s old phone and Jack must have kept it. Someone put a recording app on it and that’s what I’m sending you. I suspect they took Jack alive as payment for Russell’s debts.” Ben’s voice said over the phone to Ty. He accepted the email with a file of phone conversations. There weren’t many. A call from Jack and Russell where Jack was trying to make Russell see the reason about going into Ty’s territory. Another one was from an unknown number, of threats galore laced into the conversation. Something was off about the voice. Like it was a recording that Jack was responding to, and he didn’t know it. “Ben, bring the phone back with you. Get Mikey to l

Heather was working with her father, which wasn’t a pleasant task. She’d made it clear to him she was happy, and she wouldn’t talk to him about her life or life choices. She was here to help assist him in identifying the bodies only. That didn’t make for an easy work environment. He’d found a woman to man his office once she was gone. He wouldn’t stop muttering about how much trouble she gave him because he had to search for her. She’d forced him to close his practice for several days while they searched for her selfish person. One thing he never mentioned was him being afraid she was injured or dead. “Father, stop talking. I’m not interested in how you were inconvenienced or how much difficulty you endured looking for me. Your own words tell me far more about you that my actions being wrong. In fact, your words tell me I made the correct decision not to return. You can stuff your hurt feelings in the trash. Because only you care about them.” “You emailed

“It’s confirmed, Jack was not among the dead. Russell’s been found, and he’s been dead awhile. I won’t tell you where he was found or how. I don’t want you having nightmares. He hadn’t been burned or buried.” Ty and Rose were in the office of the Shadow Pack sorting out the information coming in finally from many sources. “That bad? He was my father either way. We should bury him, just to keep him from harming anyone as he… Uh… returns to the earth.” Old legends told of dead werewolves or wolf shifters dying and returning as a monstrous version of a vampire. It wasn’t true, but traditionally to prevent this, they cremated their dead or buried them deep in the ground. It was considered an honour to be cremated because there was nothing left to link the soul to, and they could continue their life’s journey. Burying the dead was punishment or torture. Because they believed it, the soul could linger here, attached to their body. “You’re comfortable with that option?” T

    - 2 years later– “Hey that’s enough, you guys. If you don’t settle down, someone is going to get clawed and we’ll need to get Heather over here to patch you up. Then you won’t be able to go swimming until it heals. Do you want to sit in the bank while everyone else swims?” Frowned as she chastised several young pups and their poppas. The pack had grown in recent years, and they had a few pups to keep everyone on their toes. Gone were the days of beer on the patio and loud music at all hours of the night. They now had a second extension on the packhouse, and this included a large space to pack all the pups for naps and such. It wasn’t something that happened for humans, but in a pack; it was common for pups to bond with other pack close to their age. Growing up together, they either loved or hated each other. There wasn’t a third option, and sometimes the pups could vacillate between love and hate. But they were always pack. Rose’s boys were the eldest of th

  • The Rogue & The Rose   Chapter 130-Rose Meets Her Father

Rose clutched Ty’s hand nervously as they entered the private restaurant. This place was for the elite of the shifter world, and it turned out to be run by Rose’s biologist father. This would be the first time they’d met. They talked on the phone, and that’s all. It had been hard for him. Because no one ever breathed the word about Lily, Rose’s mother’s death, or the fact that Rose existed. Lily was supposed to meet him once he got settled, but he couldn’t contact her after that. She wouldn’t or couldn’t take his calls. He couldn’t go back, not after what happened between Russell, Ethan, and himself. They’d gotten into a fight that now, years later, Alec suspected, was instigated by Russell. Lily had mated with Alec before Russell got his hands on her. But Alec insisted he knew nothing about Rose’s existence. He’d always held out hope that Lily lived and was happy. Now it saddened him to know how mistreated she’d been. Alec was the one that broke the

Jack could feel Russell’s fist pounding on the inside of his mind. He couldn’t sleep anymore. If he did the Russell would take the wheel of Jack’s body. Jack was fine living the rest of his existence in a quiet cell alone. Russell wanted out. He wanted to burn the world as they knew it for his death and punishment. Russell also didn’t want to share Jack’s body. He wanted to own it. Russell wanted Jack to go permanently. Russell wanted to start by burning the prison and he wouldn’t hear that it would not be possible. The mages saw to that. Russell wanted to kill everyone around them. No, not just kill. He wanted to rape, tear, and mangle every single one. Jack witnessed every single gory image Russell shared with him. Even when he didn’t want to see it. Jack hated his life and the surrounding people. Sure, he did as Russell ordered for years, and sometimes he had fun with it. But Russell never showed him this side of him. • The Rogue & The Rose   Chapter 128—Surprise

Ty received a text message from Rose as his truck rolled into town that morning. She asked him to pick up a package from the post office they wouldn’t deliver. This happened when the package was larger. He didn’t think much about it until the afternoon when he got to the post office and found it wasn’t one package. But several large packages. Along with the packages was a note for him to stop at the hardware store in town and pick up something there. Now Ty didn’t know what to make of this. It wasn’t something Rose did often. So Ty indulged her. At the hardware store, he found the order was for paint and supplies. He wasn’t sure what she planned to do or what room this was for. Then he was handed another note. This one had him going to the pharmacy and the grocery store to pick up things there, too. This was taking a while, and he was running out of the room in the back of the truck. Now he understood why she insisted he took it. But he didn’t think it was any

Heath didn’t know. With everyone around him so busy with all the changes and the work to fix things. It was difficult for him to find anyone to be a sane and good sounding board for him. That and he was embarrassed to mention how badly it was going between them. Heath hated to think that way, but it was clear now that was what was happening, and he was a little sad.Deep down, he wanted it to work out, and they’d live a charmed life. He’d barely had a moment to fill Jay in on the news and no time to discuss what that could mean for them. When Jay jumped out of his skin when Mikey’s phone rang in his hand. Mikey snatched it from Jay before he could accidentally drop it. “Go grab us something to eat. I’ll try to work my magic on this doctor.” Jay frowned. He wanted to be there for the talk.
