Lydia’s POV

“What?” Confusion riddled with amusement clouded Darwin’s features. “Lydia, I’m not dying. I just want to recreate it,”

But why!!

I whined in my head but gave him a nod.

“Alright. So do you need me to work?” I shuffled from one feet to the other as my cheeks stained with thoughts of his hands on my skin last night.

“No.” Darwin shook his head. “No, I don’t need anything. You can, take the day off,”

I gave him a nod and moved back, unsure of what to do.

The lab door opened and two girls filed out, covered in smoke and dark streaks from the explosion.

“Is there no other way to do this?” I frowned at Darwin “The whole thing seems dangerous,”

“If there was another way, I would have taken that route. The reaction requires human touch and a special type of fire.

Wilson isn’t exactly forthcoming with information so I’m working with what we have,” Darwin slid his hands into the pockets of his pants.
