Leah Pov
I woke up with a sharp cry in the small room allocated to me in the pack.
The pack members of the Darkwater pack never looked beyond the obvious physical weakness of my wolf, concluding I was of no use to the pack with such a wolf, and thereby not worth any position in the pack.
This lack of position was one of the reasons I was given a smaller room.
People who were useful to the pack in one way or the other got the better rooms and better everything.
I sat up, my right hand automatically going to my chest to massage it, my body still reeling from the rejection pain.
I should have known Thomas would do this to me, he was after all very ambitious, which was one of the things that had drawn me to him in the first place.
And the events of the past few days should have been enough warning for me to tell that my usefulness had come to an end.
In my usefulness, I helped put him on the Alpha seat, and since he got what he wanted, that was the end of me and any relationship we ever had.
I was now as useless to him, as I was to the rest of the pack.
A loud sob pushed at my throat, trying to erupt and leave me a sniveling mess of tears and heartbreak, but I forced it down by sheer force of will.
I refused to cry again. I refused to cry over that bastard, Thomas, and now I would show him why nobody should cross me ever again. I would show him that I was not weak, and should not be cast aside, no matter the strength of my wolf.
I jumped off the bed and hurried to the small cupboard I kept hidden in a small hole at the side of my room.
I discovered the hole one day while cleaning, and it was where I hid the tiny cupboard that housed all my magic instruments and herbs.
I pulled back the tattered carpet covering that side of the room, opened the hole covering, and removed my magic cupboard.
Taking the ingredients I wanted out of it, I began to prepare it, chanting softly under my breath, as I mashed them together in a small earthen bowl, till the ingredients started to glow slightly.
Now, all I needed to do was get close to him.

"What the actual fuck!" Thomas shouted, his voice raised in shock and alarm, as he wrestled me to the ground.
He had startled awake as I leaned over him, my hands reaching for him.
I kept on struggling on the floor, trying to pull my arms from his hold, but he tightened his hold further.
"What the fuck are you doing here, Leah?" He asked, angrily.
Looking down at me, he noticed the almost transparent white shift I was wearing, and laughed cruelly, his dark eyes taking on a lewd look.
Whatever he was thinking of, I wanted no part of it, so I struggled earnestly, pulling at my arms anew.
"Did you come here to seduce me? Then you shouldn't have been such a bitch all those times I told you to let us have sex," He announced, then snorted derisively, as he mimicked, "No Thomas, let's wait, Thomas, we will be mates soon, and we can do it on our mating night,"
"Well, tonight is more than good enough for me, since you came to me yourself. I will take what we both want, then you can get the fuck out of my life. What do you say, Leah?" He asked, one of his hands gripping my slender wrists tightly, while the other hand reached for my left breast, squeezing it painfully, as he rubbed his nether region slowly on my hip, his legs and thighs trapping mine to the ground.
"I will only do that in your grave, you bastard. Let me go!" I shouted, still struggling.
If I didn't get out of here, this bastard might end up raping me. Being forcefully taken by him would break me in a way I wasn't sure could be easily mended.
As I pushed myself against him to throw him off, the small leather pouch I was holding caught his eyes.
"What is this? Did you come to kill me with your witch magic?" He asked, his voice hardening.
No, no. He mustn't see what was inside or I was doomed.
I gripped the pouch tighter, as he removed his hand on my breast, pulling the pouch hard from me, and opened it to peer inside.
"Herbs… Hmmm. What? Hair! What are strands of my hair doing with you, Leah? Do you want to curse me?"
He looked up at my sudden stillness, his eyes widening in realization.
"You want to curse me! You bitch!" Thomas threw the pouch to the side, punching me so hard in the face, I saw bright shining lights that left my head ringing.
Rising from my body, he pulled me up alongside him, and dragged me out the door by the hair, my scalp smarting at the pain as he mindlinked the guards to call their attention.

"Leah Grey, you are banished from this pack, and you must not be seen anywhere near this territory or you'll be killed on sight" I kept hearing the pronouncement of the Darkwater pack council in my head, as I walked and walked and walked.
It's been four days now since I was banished from my pack, and I've been wandering, with no real destination to go to, my stomach throbbing with hunger, my body tired, and my heart empty.
Seeing a huge tree in the distance, I dragged my tired body to it, slumping on the tree, as my consciousness slid into darkness.
"We found her lying unconscious inside our pack boundaries, Alpha," I heard a male voice say, as I dragged myself out of the darkness that seemed to want to pull me back in.
Where was I? I wondered as I opened my eyes, to find myself lying on a cold floor, my arms and feet bound tightly.
"We don't have any need for her here and she feels too weak to be from a rival pack, sent to spy on us. Whatever she is, I don't want to deal with it for now, you know how important the coming days are, so take her back to the boundary and throw her out. Make sure she doesn't find a way back in, or you lose your lives," A deep male voice commanded.
"Yes, Alpha," a few voices chorused in answer.
Who were they? I wondered groggily, as I saw a hand reach out to grip my arm, dragging me up as I was pulled towards the exit, my legs weak from the hunger and days of walking, unable to support my body properly.
We were almost at the door, when it opened suddenly, banging against the wall, as a woman ran into the room, tears pouring rapidly down her cheeks.
"Alpha! Alpha! She's dying. Princess Anne is dying!" She said in a sob, as she stopped in front of a broad-shouldered male, who stood up from where he was seated immediately at her words, his face blanching.
"What's wrong? What's wrong with my daughter?!" He shouted, grabbing the woman by her arms, and giving her a hard shake.
"She consumed some sort of poison, Alpha, and the healers say they have no cure for it, and she will die in the next hour if nothing is to be done,"
At her words, the broad-shouldered male fell back into his chair, his shock and disbelief obvious on his face.
Snapping his head up, his hazel eyes agonized, he gestured to his men.
"I want three of you to leave immediately. Go to the nearest pack and seek for a solution. Beg, batter for it if you have to. My daughter must not die!"
The male holding my arm continued to drag me towards the door, intent on obeying his Alpha's command to throw me out, so he could join the others to look for a solution for their princess.
"I can do it. I can save her" I spoke up suddenly, shocked at myself.
What was I doing? I shouldn't call attention to my magic, but I couldn't continue like this too. I needed to survive.
At my words, the Alpha turned to look at me.
"You had better not be jesting with me, or your life will be forfeit," He warned, his eyes flashing gold of his wolf.
"I can help her Alpha, just give me a chance to, and before you men find someone to help her, it might already be too late," I stated weakly.
I couldn't continue the way I've been these past four days. I needed food and some basic necessities. I hadn't been allowed to take anything from my old pack, forced to leave empty-handed without even food or extra clothing. And if I helped the Alpha, he might have pity on me and provide me with some food or even let me stay here for some days too.
"OK. You, " The Alpha said, pointing to the one holding me upright by the arm.
"Take her to the princess quarters, and make sure you provide her with everything she needs. Everything." Shifting his eyes back to me, he warned.
"You had better save my daughter, or you will not leave this pack alive,"
Leah Pov"Who are you?" A scratchy voice asked, waking me up from the half-sleep I had slipped into. I was so tired after all the hours pushing myself to make medicine to heal the princess, the small bread I begged a maid for, the only thing in my stomach. The little magic I pushed into the herb mixture sapped up the last of my strength and nearly sent me into another dead faint. "You're awake princess, that's good. Let me tell someone to inform your father," I stood up tentatively, staggering to the door to call one of the guards when the princess's voice stopped me in my tracks. "No. Don't call them yet, please," Princess Anne begged, her light blue eyes shiny with tears in the dim light of the room. "But your father will be worried. He needs to know you are alive and well, and my life depends on this too. I'm hungry and tired and I can't wait any longer, I need to make a deal with your father if I hope to survive the coming days at least," I informed her, my tiredness loosenin
Damian Pov"What is Elijah thinking pushing the mating to two days' time? I should have been informed before I even got here, now what the fuck am I supposed to do, twiddle my thumbs and wait?!" I snapped at my Delta, Connor, running a hand through my hair in frustration. I got to Risenmoon pack this morning, only to be told that the mating ceremony had been postponed. A mating ceremony I never wanted, with a mate I didn't want. I didn't need another woman in my life, but since Stephanie agreed to the mating, citing its importance, I decided to go with the flow. When I came to Elijah, the Alpha of the Risenmoon pack for access to his Lead mining site, it didn't cross my mind that mating his daughter would be a prerequisite to having access to the mines. And my pack, Silverback pack, needed urgent access to the mines which was one the reasons I even agreed to Elijah's idiotic suggestion. The Silverback pack didn't have a good relationship with other packs, but we were feared and r
Leah pov "What's going on here, Alpha Damian? Get your hands off my daughter!" a voice shouted, the hand around my throat suddenly removed. Gasping from the pain in my throat, I placed my hand over the bruised skin and watched as Alpha Elijah faced off with Alpha Damian, the two of them growling loudly, seconds away from ripping each other to shreds. "What game are you playing Elijah? Who is that woman behind you?" Alpha Damian questioned, his eyes flashing gold, as he pointed a finger at me. "Who else would she be? She's Princess Anne, my daughter. You met her before," Giving a glance at me where I stood huddled behind him, Alpha Elijah added."Oh. I get what you mean. She feels different, doesn't she?" Straightening his stance from his half-crouched position, Alpha Elijah confessed, his face expressionless and posture stoic, not giving anything away. "She got poisoned with wolfsbane and almost died," At his words, Alpha Damian straightened too, his anger draining, but the su
Leah povAfter nearly four days of travel, we finally got to Silverback pack, amidst grumblings and side-eye glances from the few warriors Alpha Damian had brought with him. I could understand their grumbling, as the journey was supposed to take just one day in their wolf form, but because I couldn't shift, they had to keep to my pace, which made them angry. I could sense Damian frustration with me, but he didn't say a word, leaving me in the company of his warriors while he went on to scout. Immediately we got to what I assumed was the pack house; since it was the biggest building I could see, the door flew open and a stunning silvery-haired woman came flying out of it. "Damian!" She shouted, jumping on him and planting a full kiss on his lips. Damian caught her by the hips, and the two of them kissed so deeply I could only stare in shock. What the-? The two of them ease off each other reluctantly, their eyes hooked on each other, and the depths of their feelings obvious. If
Leah's POV I stared at my reflection in the mirror, the wide floral skirt and cute top made me feel more regal. I was really doing this. I twirled around, loving the feeling when I heard a knock at the door. "It's open," I answered, and the door was pushed open. It was a maid. "Are you ready? I was asked to take you to the dining room, my Princess," she said, her eyes placed on the floor. It pulled at my heart, reminding me of when I was in my pack and unable to look at the higher-ups too. I plastered a small smile on my face. "Yes, please lead the way," I replied just before I could catch what had just left my lips. The maid looked shocked for a moment but she quickly hid her expression again and turned around to leave. So it was the same everywhere, I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. A princess never used the word 'please'. It was a vocabulary that they didn't need as everything they needed could be gotten in the blink of an eye. Well, I wasn't going to be that princess,
Damien's Pov My instincts have never failed me and right now they were blaring at me, telling me something was wrong. It didn't help that my wolf wanted to be close to her. Her scent was refreshing, pulling me in without my will. It was clouding my senses whenever I was in her presence. Whatever trickery she was playing at, I was going to discover it before she confused me. I shook my head as I walked. I wanted to go to Stephanie's room but the passion was no longer there. I suddenly felt tired and drained. As I forced myself to go to her room, I suddenly felt guilty. I was mated yet I would be spending my first night with another woman. I brushed the thought away. This was only a marriage of convenience. I reached her room and opened it without knocking, knowing fully well that she had heard my footsteps and was expecting me. Stephanie was already half-naked in a see-through dress that hugged every part of her body. As I entered, she wrapped her arms around my neck and pull
Leah's POVMy eyes were closed yet I could feel someone around me. I did not know if it was because of the magic I was practicing or my dormant wolf but I could feel his presence. I opened my eyes and immediately I saw a very huge wolf on my window, sleeping peacefully and a scream erupted from my throat. My scream woke him up and I scrambled out of the bed, ready to defend myself. The wolf stared at me for a few seconds before it jumped and ran away from my window. I quickly ran to my window to make sure it was locked. Indeed, it was. Who knew what would have happened if I had forgotten to close it. Who the hell was that and why was he sleeping at my window? He was too huge to be just a member of the pack. This place was weird, I concluded. Just then, a knock came at my door and I ran to open it. Standing outside was Evelyn and she was looking at me strangely. "I heard a scream, are you okay Princess?" She asked, trying to see inside my room. I suddenly felt conscious and I pull
Leah's POVConnor came a few minutes later and we left my room. He started by taking me round the house. It was a big mansion draped with expensive linen and arts. I felt like Damien was trying to show how wealthy he was although the interior did not seem like his taste. It was more of Stephanie's. "This side of the house is for the maids so whenever you need Evelyn, you can search for her here," Connor explained as we passed the east wing. If I was not sure about Damien's money, I was now. Anne had been telling me the truth. "Okay, who does Evelyn work for?" I asked him, looking uninterested in the conversation. Connor stoped walking and turned to me. "The Alpha, of course. Why do you ask?" He looked at me quizzingly.I shrugged. "Just because. She seemed to be taking note of everything I did and looked at me weirdly." He hummed, said nothing and continued walking. We got out of the house and immediately he pulled my to his chest and turned around. "Shit!" I heard a group of b
Leah POV Everything seemed to happen so fast. I saw my father claw at Thomas’s chest and I saw a very angry Damian on top of him. “Damian!” I yelled and tried to run to him to stop him but I was too late. He tore out Thomas’ throat. It was so deep that his bone was visible and I watched as he bled out, leaving me scared out of my senses. It felt like everything happened only yesterday but it’s been three months now.Damian professed his love to me once again, Lucia left without a trace, and Evelyn, Connor, and I finally went back to being friends. I apologized to Connor and he also apologized for seeing all that Steph did and keeping quiet about it.Today was a day to celebrate. I had on my head a crown made with beautiful wild flowers and my dress was very beautiful as well. There was going to be another mating ceremony, my first real mating ceremony as Leah Grey Ortega who would now become Luna Leah Ortega Leroy; The Luna of the Silverback pack, which began to progress again aft
Thomas POV My guards, both betas and omegas were already prepared for the war. All I needed was to get Alpha Elijah’s full support so we could finally take Damian down, and then I'd end the King's life as well. There was no time for sentiments. All that mattered to me was to end all this soon. I stepped outside. Damian and Anne have been away since yesterday already. Well, I didn't care. Nothing would change. Stephanie told me she had taken care of Anne, so there was no need to worry. I realized after a while that Lucia was not around. “Where could she have gone?” I thought but then later dismissed it. I went by my day doing every other thing and trying to get my head together. I was supposed to be in a meeting with the head of my werewolf troupes. Just then, the door to the room opened and Lucia walked in. “Where have you been?” I asked her. The sun had risen in the sky and was hot on all our skin.“You’re late,” I chastised.“I’m sorry, I just had somewhere to be,” She said
Leah POV My head hurt so much and my eyes stung from the light that penetrated the room. Everywhere ached so badly. I could still feel the stinging sensation on my cheeks as a result of the hard slaps the Alpha King landed on my face during his interrogation. I didn't blame him entirely though, he was just scared and was only acting like a father. The only one to be blamed was Thomas. He was the two-time conniving schemer that made all this happen.I winced as I tried to sit properly. I felt a hand on my shoulder. “It’s alright darling, you can go lie back down,” I looked sideways to see a female omega dressed in white. She was definitely one of those weird ones who stuck that sharp thing in my arm. I flinched from her touch. “An Alpha was here to see you earlier. You didn't wake up when you were supposed to but the moment he stepped in, you moved. But he has gone back outside now,” She added. “An Alpha?” I tried to think.Could it be Damian? Just then, the door burst open, and
Alpha Elijah POVI went back to my study and just lowered myself on the seat. My hands were shaking a lot. I had a secret I had kept for a long time and looking into her eyes now, it seemed like that secret was about to be exposed. I never thought that in my wildest dreams I’d ever be able to see her again or hear of her again but now, everything was about to change. John came into my study, “Alpha Elijah, why did you suddenly call for the doctors?” He asked. I looked at him not knowing what to say.He had stayed in the pack the longest and though there were times when we had our squabbles and all, I still thought very highly of him and he's been with me through the toughest of times. It was why I entrusted Anne to him and sent him off to the Silverback pack in case something were to happen to her because of Damian’s reputation. “She might be the child I've been looking for all these while,” I said to him. The look on his face said it all. He was so shocked. “That can’t be. We
Leah POV When I woke up, my whole body hurt from being moved around a lot and my head was basically splitting. I tried to stand up and move but my hands and legs were chained.“Silver chains!” I exclaimed. It basically weakened a werewolf and left them defenseless. How was the Alpha able to get something like this unless he didn’t just mine lead alone? I thought.Looking around, it was so dark and the floor was so solid that its sharp rocky parts pierced my skin. I also felt very different. My wolf was more active which only meant one thing, I was back to being Leah.“Oh no!” I exclaimed. Just then I heard the screeching sounds of a gate being moved over a very hard floor. “Who is there?” I asked. Just then, two male wolves walked in. One of them wore a large flowing garment on his body and walked majestically. Alpha Elijah. There was also someone I knew next to him. “John the blacksmith.” My brows creased in confusion. I was not at the Silverback pack but at the Risenmoon
Stephanie POV I walked angrily and banged the door to his room. Damian was a lost cause now. Thomas was right, I should just punish them both. Damian would never again love me like he used to. He just said it himself and I would never forget it or forgive him. I decided to go for a run. As I walked out of the main gates, ready to sprint forward, my eyes caught the movement of something in the dark or rather, someone. The silhouette was running fast towards the gates. I felt anger course through me. It must be Leah. I ran towards her and then tackled her to the ground.“Please, don’t kill me,” She shouted.“What?” I couldn't understand that. Leah would have definitely fought back and why would she run back if she knew that her life was in danger? This couldn't be right. I was sitting over her, so I moved back and really looked her in the face. She looked like Anne, the daughter of Alpha Elijah but didn’t behave like Leah. “Who are you?” I asked her still sitting on top of her.
Damian POV“But Alpha Damian, how could you have let this happen to us? An imposter right under our noses and you have been having an affair with her!” One of the council of werewolf members shouted. My blood was hot with anger. They had no right to talk about her in that manner. She had been nothing but kind to them and if she had any ulterior motive, she wouldn't have stayed for as long as she stayed despite knowing the kind of danger she would be in once the truth came out about her real identity. “You have forgotten so easily everything she put in to make us what we are. We owe her some of our wealth because of her intricate designs on the gems that helped us make very good deals with neighboring territories,” I pointed out. “Those gems were stolen.” One spat. “But now, they have been recovered,” I threw at him. I watched Connor from the corner of my eyes. He was silent. He did not utter a word or say anything and it annoyed me so much. They all weren’t seeing things from my
Leah POV My heart was pounding heavily and my eyes were misty and blinded by the tears that were glistening in them. I heard those words from his mouth directly that the imposter must be killed. I had waited all these days for his return so that I could tell him the truth, but I was too late. I used my hands to cover the sobs that threatened to escape my mouth. I had to leave immediately because I knew that if I didn’t, then I would be caught and killed. The wolf criers all began to howl. It was a signal that a general meeting was to be held and every werewolf had to be available and present for the meeting. No one was excluded.“It would be dangerous if I attended the meeting because they would find out about me and have me killed.” I thought. I ran back to my room and packed only a few things. My potions, since the book was stolen, and a few of my clothes. Just two sets, then I packed my hair to a tight up-do and then I sneaked out of the room. While everyone would be busy and
Thomas POV “I have done what needs to be done,” Alpha Elijah said to me, a solemn expression on his face. “It’s all good, your majesty. It’s all for the best. War and death is the only way we can punish such a crime. He wants to usurp your power and you must not turn a blind eye to it,” I said. “Well, that is indeed true, but what now do I do about my daughter?” He asked. That was what worried him the most at the moment. Where his daughter Anne was and what could have happened to her? I could sense it. I also had a plan for that of course. I place my hands on his shoulder, “Do not worry about that now, it is a piece of cake. I promise to help you in this war and also to help return your daughter to you, safe and sound,” I promised him.He looked a bit relieved after my reassurances, but I knew he was definitely not going to sit still and wait for me to return his daughter to him. So I changed tactics. “You don't need to worry too much about anything except your daughter. You can
