Chapter 4 His Offer

Carina didn't answer first, so Loid asked again.

“What Carina? Will you accept my offer?” Loid asked again.

“Ah! I'll think about it, sir. I don't want to bother you. I'm ashamed, this is a problem for our family.” Carina replied.

“Don't think about that. The important thing is that you can send something to your family in the Philippines. How is your brother? Is he okay?”

"Not yet, sir, he's still in I.C.U."

“Ah! Is that so unfortunate? Just be strong and everything will be okay.”

"Thank you, sir Loid."

Their conversation ended. Carina's mood calmed down, but she remembered what she had told her manager, that she had already agreed to its offer. He also didn’t know how to tell his manager that she was going to back down from its offer.

The next day…

She has returned to work because her days of suspension are over. She saw her manager at the door of his office as if he was waiting for her. She was getting nervous because he had not yet told his manager of her decision. She remembers how her manager would react. It might make him angry and make up a story to get her fired. She just sighed.

"Good morning sir, Leo!"

"Good morning Carina, we've been waiting for you to come into my office first, so we can talk."

She wondered if this was what she was afraid of. She could do nothing but follow her manager because she was being paid. So she entered her manager's office.

“So, what?! Are you ready for our talk?”

She couldn’t answer. She was just quiet because she was thinking about what she would answer without making her manager angry.

“Are you okay, Carina? I am asking you."

“Ha?! Ah, sir Leo. Thank you very much for your offer, but I can't lie to you and myself. Whatever you think of me, I can't do anything, but I think you are my boss or my employer. I have no other intentions or feelings at all.” Carina explained.

“What?! Leo's voice rose. “I thought you realized what we were talking about. Where did you get the money to send to your family for your brother's treatment?”

“I'm looking for another way sir, I don't want to bother anyone, especially if someone asks for a replacement. I'm not like other women who hold on to the knife just to get what she wants.” Carina replied.

“Oh! You’re not using your brain. I have allowed you to send money to your family in the Philippines.” Disgusted, Leo said.

She looked at her manager. She notices that his voice has risen and is angry because she did not accept its offer.

Her manager stood in her seat. He approached Carina while she was sitting in a chair there. Her manager was very close. Her manager leaned both of his hands on the chair and brought his face close to Carina's.

"Sir, what are you going to do?" Carina asked in shock.

But her manager did not speak. He continued what he was doing fit that he would kiss it.

Carina walked away. She was ready to stand, but her manager grabbed her arm and she sat down again.

"Sir, what are you doing?"

"Shut up Carina. Even if you can't give me my condition, I'll just do it here. My office is completely closed and no one can see us." Leo replied.

"What?! Do you have any bad plans for me? ” scared Carina said.

"What else do you think?" And Leo started kissing Carina's neck.

Carina struggles because she doesn't like her manager's evil plan. When Carina found the time, she slapped her manager and stepped below his stomach. Then she immediately ran to the door and quickly left. While her manager was writhing in pain.

Carina gasped as she came out of her manager's office. Dina noticed her, she immediately approached her to ask what happened.

“Carina! Are you okay?! You look tense and you're sweating a lot.” asked Dina worriedly.

"Dina… can I go home first?" it was obvious in Carina's voice that she was shaking.

“Carina, what happened? Please talk. I'm worried about you. Did sir Leo do something to you?” Dina asked again.

Carina didn't answer. She just left alone to go home to their apartment. While Dina and their cashier are wondering what happened to Carina.

Pia and Loid talked about Loid's friendly date.

"Cousin, how was your friendly date with the woman you told me about?"

“Oh! Is that it?! We didn't go because she didn't bring me to our conversation.”

“Oh! So, you mean that he just made you hope she agreed, and then you won't be whipped in your conversation? It's a pity that she might not be for you, Loid.” Said Pia.

“It's not like that Pia. I only found out the reason yesterday. Because when I called her, all she thought was that she was talking to her mother. Maybe she was just confused in those days.”

“Why?! What did she say while you were listening on the other line?” Pia asked.

"Did you know she didn't show up? Her mother called that day to report that her brother was injured in the Philippines. A rider who was speeding hit her brother, who was entering the alley."

“Oh! Really? That is sad news. So, what seems to have happened? Is her brother okay?”

"She said she didn't know yet because her mother hadn't heard from her yet, and then she was still crying because she needed a large amount of money so that she could send something to her family," Loid replied.

“Oh! What a pity for that woman. I hope his brother is okay.”

"Yeah! I offered to lend her money.” Said Loid.

“Oh! Are you serious?! You don't know her very well yet, but you just trust her to lend her money. What if what she said on the phone is not true?” said Pia with suspicion.

"I'm not sure she's lying because she looks kind."

"It's up to you! You have your own money. Aren't you the CEO of the company? Ah! Does she know who you are?”

“I never told her I was the CEO of a company. But that is not the basis.” Loid replied.

“Cousin, what if you offer her to be your girlfriend so that you can introduce someone to your parents? Didn't you stress about that issue for a long time?” Pia's suggestion.

Loid suddenly fell silent, thinking that Pia was right. What if he just offers to Carina? But she was confused that Carina might not accept that. He did not want to force the woman just for his intentions.

Patrick arrived from his vacation in Paris.

“Oh! Cousin, how are you? It's good that you had a vacation here with us.”

“Yes, Patrick! Did you just come from Paris?”

“Yes, the fun of my vacation. I enjoy seeing girls, haha!”

“Oh, my gosh! There you are again, oh! You are a very womanizer, so until now you have wasted so many women, not even one, that your sister Pia introduced us to.” Said Loid.

“Ay! The bachelor spoke oh! You too have not been found yet. Auntie and uncle are already waiting to be their grandchildren and heirs, haha!” Patrick returned.

"That's enough. Let's eat lunch first when Yaya is ready to prepare it." Pia sighed to finish their bullying.

The two of them just fell silent. They ate together. Pia and Patrick's parents were not there because they were on vacation in the Philippines.

Patrick and Pia are twins, so their faces are very similar. Pia is an industrious businesswoman who follows in the footsteps of her parents while Patrick is easy-go-lucky, spoiled, and whatever he wants he gets. He did not care about the money he wasted because they belonged to a wealthy family.

Dina has returned to the apartment from the restaurant. She saw Carina sitting on the balcony, looking at the sky.

“Carina! Are you okay? What happened to you before?”

“Ah! Without that, I was just emotional.”

“What are you? It feels like something is weird. You're lying to me? Tell me what happened first.” Dina insisted.

Carina fell silent. She didn't want to tell Dina what happened inside their manager's office. She doesn't want the issue to escalate, but she and Dina have been friends for a long time, so she has confidence in it.

So Carina started talking to Dina. As Dina listens, Carina sees she is disgusted with their manager.

"What?! That’s what that bastard manager did. I thought Sir Leo was kind enough to hide something. It's a good thing you got out of there right away.” Disgusted, Dina said.

"Yeah! I was so scared, that the manager was too many. So tomorrow after work, I will start applying to another restaurant. I have the total experience again. Maybe I can find someone.” Carina replied.

“Good friend. What's the news with your brother in the Philippines? Has your mother called yet?”

“Mom hasn't called yet! I hope I can send money within this week.”

“Is that so? Have you found the money yet?”

“Last night! I made a mistake with the person I was talking to. Someone called me. I thought about Mom because I was very confused so I answered immediately. Then I spoke the many hurtful words and noticed if he did not answer, I looked at the phone the name of sir Loid appeared. I'm embarrassed because I've said so much.” Carina explained.

“Oh! Really?! Maybe blessings in disguise, that friend. Did he offer to lend you money?”

“Ha?! Ah, it looks like that.”

"Accept first, don't think twice, compared to our manager, who has many," Dina replied.

“But I am ashamed of him, Dina. He is a stranger. We just met at the restaurant and he is our loyal customer.”

“Ay! You want me to beat you? You are very stubborn. Grab that opportunity first. You will pay him, won't you?”

“Of course, because it's a debt, isn't it? Debt differs from giving.”

“It's okay! What else are you thinking there? To ease your problems.”

Carina realized what Dina had told her. That's why she just sighed.
