CHAPTER 3 ACCIDENTALLY ANSWERS HIM

Carina was upset when she heard about what had happened to her brother. She no longer knew where to find money to send to her mother in the Philippines. She also remembers Loid. She knows it's sulking because she didn't show up for their conversation.

She called Loid again, but he did not answer. They haven't been, but she is already hurt by what happened to them in the situation she is in now. She did not want trouble to come to their family.

She called her mother again in the Philippines to ask about her brother.

“Hello mom, how are you? What's the news with Carlos?” he asked worriedly.

“She is still in I.C. U Carina. It's been a few hours since the doctor came out. I'm already anxious about your brother.”

“Is that so? What a pity for my brother. Be strong mom, update me always. I will just find money here so I can send it to you.” Said Carina.

Carina hung up the phone and was stunned again.

A few hours later, Dina came home from work. She hasn't cooked a meal yet because she hasn't felt well yet.

“Carina, I'm here. Oh! What happened? You look sad?”

"Yes, Dina, Loid, and I didn't go for a walk."

“Oh! Really?! Why? Did he back out?”

“It's not Dina, because I received a call in the Philippines. Mom called me and told me that the second one was injured when a brother on a motorcycle hit him with a fast-moving motorcycle and he is now in I.C.U. Huhu!” Carina's story cried.

"What?! What about your brother? Did the collider provide expenses? Is your brother still in I.C. U?” Dina asked.

“I don't know if he gave, because mom didn't mention it. Yes, the doctors are still in the I.C.U. I'm anxious Dina, I'm not comfortable and I'm also worried about where I will find the money. My mind is confused.” Carina said sadly.

“Friend, be strong. Try to get a cash advance with the boss just in case he allows you. That's nice. Let's just ask that you need money for your brother. Just join me, so you have the courage.” Said Dina.

“Thank you so much, Dina. Without you, I don't know what I would do. I may have lost my sanity because I could no longer cope with the problems in my life.” Carina said sadly.

The next day, Carina went to the restaurant to talk to their manager about the cash advance she would ask for. She still can't enter because she is still suspended. Dina was outside their manager's office to wait for Carina.

"Good morning sir Leo." He greeted his manager.

Leo is their manager. He had been the manager of that restaurant for about five years, so he was trusted by the owner of that restaurant. He has a family in the Philippines and has a daughter.

“Oh! Carina, you came here to the restaurant. Haven't you been suspended yet?”

“Yes, sir, Leo, but I would like to ask you something, sir. I know I will only get a little in the end because of my suspension, but sir I need money now. My family has a problem in the Philippines because my brother was injured when he was a boy. I can't think of anyone else to borrow money. So I'm begging you to let me work on that. Just deduct it from my salary.” Carina explained.

“Oh! Is that so?!” their manager stood up. "You know the finance department can't decide that, but if you want, I can lend you money but on one condition," Leo replied.

Carina didn't answer right away. What does her boss's condition mean? She was nervous about her boss's offer.

"What do you mean sir condition?" Carina asked, confused.

"I'll lend you, but you have to date me in exchange for me lending you." Said Leo.

"What?! Do I need anything like that? I will pay again! If that's all you want. Please don't sir, thank you.” Carina replied.

“I thought you needed the money. Just think that the longer you can find money, the longer you can send money to your family.” Her boss said.

Carina is confused about her situation. She fully assumed that her boss had no ill intentions toward her. She noticed it staring sharply at her. She wasn't used to looking at her like that when her boss was .

It came in front of her, staring at her as if it wanted to explore her. It grabbed him by the arm.

"What?! Deal? Don't think it's for your brother. Don't worry, no one will know what we're talking about.” Her boss asked again.

“Ha?! I can't handle your condition, sir Leo. I know you have a wife and a child in the Philippines. Don't be unfaithful to your wife. I know I need the money, but I can't stand my conscience to take away from your wife.” Carina answered boldly.

Here, it should be the brain you are working on and not your heart. I thought your family was your priority. Why are you refusing my offer? This is for your brother's sake.” Her boss insisted.

“There are many ways to borrow money, but this is not the solution. If that's all you want and you don't want to lend me, it's okay. I will just look for someone else who can lend me a loan.”

Carina got up and walked to the door. She heard her manager speak.

“It's up to you Carina, that's a good offer for you. No matter how much you want me to lend, just follow my conditions and there is no problem. If you change your mind, come back to me.” Her manager said last.

She didn't answer, she just left with a sad face.

When she came out of the door from the inside, Dina saw her and immediately approached Carina to ask what happened when they talked to their manager. Carina couldn't answer right away, because she was still thinking about what her boss told her. She couldn't quite imagine that the good manager she thought had bad intentions toward her.

“Carina, are you okay? Did sir Leo agree to your request for a cash advance?”

“Ha?! He said that he could not decide that but the finance. I still need to submit the requirements before being approved. I don't know Dina, where I will find money quickly. If I wait for it to be processed, maybe next week it will be approved, and I will need more money. Huhu!” Carina's story cried.

"Yeah! So, what are your plans now?”

“I don't know Dina anymore. Maybe I'll just accept sir Leo's offer.” Said Carina.

“Offer?! What do you mean? Sir Leo has something to offer you? What is that?” Dina asked curiously.

Carina suddenly fell silent. She knew she shouldn't but realized that she really had no one else to hold on to but just had to hold on to the knife, even though she knew she would be hurt by what she did.

“Hey! What?! Tell me, you are very mysterious. I'm your friend, so share it.” Dina said again.

“I'm still not sure about my decision. I'm still hesitant. I don't want to ruin my life and ruin my family. You know my attitude, Dina.”

"What are you talking about? I'm nervous about what your decision will be.” Dina replied.

Carina didn't even say what their boss wanted about her lending money to Carina. She also didn't want her friend to worry. So she just hid it.

Just before Carina returned to their house, she called her manager to accept the offer to date them, which was the condition of their manager. It was against her will that she accepted that condition for the money she could send to her family in the Philippines.

That night, while she was waiting for her parents to call, her phone rang. She answered it quickly, and she thought it was her mother because she didn't look at who called.

“Mom, how is Carlos? Mom, I have found no money yet. I'm confused about where to find money to send to you. I went to our manager hoping that I could get a cash advance in case he said he didn't have the finance. He said I still had to follow the process. But next week it will be approved by mom. Huhu! I'm so tired. I'm ashamed of Dina because she always helps me. Please be strong mom, we can do this. If I had only saved up something, I would have gone back to the Philippines so that you could sympathize.” Carina said.

She suddenly fell silent without the person on the other line speaking. She wonders why her mother didn't even answer. The one on the other line was just quiet. When she looked at the phone, she was surprised to see the name appear. It was Loid who called her. She couldn't speak, because she didn't know it was Loid. She then expressed her thoughts. She was embarrassed why she didn't even look at who had called.

"Are you okay, Carina?" he heard Loid's voice.

She did not answer, but just dropped the call. She was ashamed of what she had said earlier. Loid might think he's listening to it. Her phone rang again. She looked at it, and Loid called again. She hesitates to answer that. But he called several times, so she answered a third time.

"Yes sir Loid, you were called." He replied.

“Yes, I heard everything you said before. What happened to your brother?” Loid asked.

“Ah! That's just for me, sir.”

“Carina, tell me first. Is that why you didn't show up for our conversation yesterday?”

Carina did not answer immediately. “Ah! Yes, my mom called. She told me that my brother had been injured. I was so worried that I lost track of the conversation we had to meet.” Carina replied.

“Oh! I thought you still didn't want to meet me, so at the last minute you backed out.”

“It's not like that sir, I just had a problem with my family so I can't tell you. I tried to call you in case I couldn't contact you so I thought if you were upset with me.” Carina replied.

“Ah! I see, I'm sorry. I'll admit it I'm really upset with you because I thought you didn't want to see me.” Loid replied.

"What is your problem? Maybe I can help you.”

“Ah! Don't bother sir, I don't want to bother you. This is a problem for our family so it's okay. I'll just find another way.” Said Carina.

“Carina, I am willing to help you. Please let me, how much do you need? I am willing to lend you money.” Loid insists.

Carina was silent. What if I just accept Loid's offer? Because if I choose what my boss said about the offer, I might be even more ruined.” She whispered to herself.

Is Loid the answer to her financial problems for her family?
