Chapter 90

Audrey’s POV

I woke up to find myself lying on the floor with my body completely drenched in water. I tried to sit up but I could feel my head spin so I held it with both my hands, my chains clashing together.

As I struggled to revive, I wiped water off my face, my shackles clanging noisily. I tried to remember the events before then and I recalled being taken out of my cell room and to the courtroom where I was told by Erik and the nurse responsible for Kaden’s care that Kaden had died.

I could still hear the nurse’s voice breaking the news to me ringing in my mind’s ear and it brought a feeling of sadness to me, my atmosphere suddenly changing. I could not know for sure if Erik had killed Kaden as I suspected he would do or if Kaden had truly died from his condition, all I knew was that he was dead, taking my only hope of freedom and survival along with him.

My sadness overwhelmed me as I thought of Kaden and soon I burst out in hard sobs.
