**Audrey's POV**
My nostrils were immediately assaulted with a kind of sweet smelling smell that I couldn’t quite comprehend. It smelled of a blend of every sweet thing you could ever imagine and I had to sniffle continuously to find its source, thinking it was Caleb;
But unfortunately, I didn’t see where it came from.
I silently trudged behind the big guy who walked right in front of me with a thick rope clasped in his hands. The thick rope was connected to my wrists which were tied together like that of a typical slave.
He slowly got into a large sleek looking truck that was parked right in front of Caleb’s palace and pulled at the rope until I begrudgingly got in the back seat with him.
A few minutes after we had settled into the car, it drove off the curb and into the street.
I was so confused, and didn’t know what to think. I wasn’t sure if he was actually going to kill me or not or of he would decide to make me a slave in his own kingdom The same way Caleb had enslaved me.
Thoughts about escaping crossed my mind, but at the same time I couldn’t seem to come up with a reasonable escape plan.
Even if I escaped, I didn’t have anywhere to run to or anyone at all that wasn't a member of my previous pack.
The several thoughts fleeting through my mind soon began to make my head feel a little too heavy against my neck, and so I decided not to move in order not to exert too much pressure on it.
I sat there, unmoving and unsure of what my fate was as we drove along the busy roads leading to wherever it was that he was taking me.
I silently prayed that I do not get killed, just so that I would be able to come back and avenge all of the I’ll treatments I had been put through, including the deaths of my parents.
My head was starting to hurt again and my body ached all over, even my wrists which were tied tight were beginning to have bruises around them.
Suddenly the sweet scent from earlier hit me again, strong and overwhelming, it filled my lungs and sent a rush of excitement throughout my body as I took in its smell, basking in its goodness. It was intoxicating, and at the same time, held me in place.
I slowly traced the smell until I stopped just a few inches away from my buyer. He smelled so good, like something fresh, sweet and delicious.
Immediately I stopped just beside him, I could somehow guess who he was and why he smelled so appealing to me. I may not have had a wolf, but I could feel it.
I gasped in shock, my eyes widening as I noticed him staring back at me with a confused expression on his face.
As if it was preplanned, he immediately began to sniff at the air as he looked at me, and then his nostrils flared.
I could notice how his eyes widened, he blinked, staring at me as shock filled his expression.
"How is this possible?" He muttered slowly, "You can't possibly be..." I noticed how his jaw dropped but I said nothing.
He shook his head looking at me, then turned to look out of the window, and then back at me again.
The smell grew stronger and stronger with each passing moment as he kept staring pointedly at me, scrutinizing me.
His gaze suddenly softened and he reached over, to place his calloused hands over mine.
"Mate." He drawled. I wasn’t sure if it was the way he had said it or the look on his face while he said it that had me in a confused mess, but I gulped loudly, nervously.
He released my hands, sat up straight and bent to stare at me from his position which hovered over my small frame.
He was so beautiful, his gray eyes shone brightly against the bright moon outside, his face was flawless and smooth as though he never had any imperfections.
I almost didn’t realize how gorgeous he was earlier, I was too blinded by my anger at being sold.
He stared at me for a while and I wondered what he would do. I eagerly waited for him to reject me but he didn’t, it came to me before, I wouldn't be so surprised if it did again.
Just as the thoughts crossed my mind, His face immediately contorted into one of pure hatred and he looked down at me with eyes that were now full with intense loathing.
"This cannot be." He exclaimed, clenching his fists.
My heart skipped a beat, I knew that tone, I've been on the receiving end before, it was anger and disbelief, I wondered what he was angry about, and what was so disbelieving.
He glanced at me then back out the window.
The silence stretched on uncomfortably for a few seconds, I didn't dare speak and neither did he, but after a while he sighed heavily.
"We're here." He jumped down.
I stepped down carefully, hoping to not cross him, or even make him upset.
I gasped when I saw the surroundings, it really was a breathtaking sight. There seemed to be endless fields and vast plains stretching far into the distance, there were mountains in the background, they looked so majestic that I could only imagine how high they were.
They were vast houses, each surrounded by gardens and trees and flowers, it seemed peaceful yet elegant.
It reminded me of what a perfect utopia should feel like.
"Who is this?" A voice asked..
I flinched slightly at the sound but tried not to let it show, I turned my head to the sound of the voice, I saw a man.
"Welcome King." The man bowed.
I gasped in surprise, he was a King, I was just bought by a king??
"She's a slave." He replied coolly and I could actually swear that his words made me immediatelyI feel a painful pang that struck at my heart. He must hate the idea that I'm his mate.
"Oh you're a slave." The man smirked.
"The slave quarters is over there." He pointed to a building at the left.
The building was massive, it had two stories and a huge double wooden door at the front.
"Follow me." The man motioned.
As we walked towards the building I heard loud chatter coming from inside and I immediately assumed that there would be lots of people in the house.
I saw other slaves there, he stopped at the door, then he smiled and walked away.
I swallowed looking for anyone who would give me directions, I couldn't find any.
"Hey newbie." I turned to the sound of the voice and was surprised when I saw a mean looking female werewolf walk towards me.
She wore a dirty grey dress and her hair was covered in dirt. "What's your name?" She smiled at me, she looked menacingly sweet, it felt like a mixture of both.
I gulped looking around. No help was coming, the others were still doing what they were doing before I walked over here, no one was paying attention to us.
"I'm Audrey." I whispered.
"Audrey, you're new, and I'll repeat the news once." She started.
"You don't get close to the Lycan King, unless he asks you to come to him."
"You'll follow the rules of your head slave." She pointed to herself.
"Don't associate yourself with those that aren't slaves, you're not of their calibre."
"Finish your daily job."
"And finally, don't break any of those rules." As soon as she was done speaking, she walked off and I released the breath I held, looking around the room until another slave walked towards me.
"She's always that way." The slave muttered.
"I'm Maria." she said, extending her hand to me. I shook her hand.
"I'm Audrey."
Maria nodded and led me inside. I followed her through several hallways and corridors until we stopped at a large set of doors. There were many slaves bustling around inside.
"This is the spare room, you can stay here."
She pointed to the room. "Breakfast will be in the dining hall at 5am every day, you need to clean the rooms after that meal and then you're free to go."A few slaves looked at me curiously.
I noticed another slave walking over towards us and greeted Maria quickly.
"Hey Benny."Maria hugged her.
"We have a new addition, wow." She smiled, I smiled back, opening the door to my room.
"Oh and one more thing." She said, looking at me. "Don't cross the head slave’s path. She’s vicious enough to want you dead."
I stood quietly, unsure of what to do or go to, but there was thing stuck in my mind which was the fact there were tons of murderers around.
**Kaden's POV.****8 Hours Ago*******I knew I didn't need a slave, I already had too much of them in my palace oanyways, yet this alpha managed to convince me in getting one.I bought her reluctantly and I was shocked by the meager amount of money he was selling her for.Though, I knew that that wasn't the main reason I had bought her. I had already seen her face. When I walked into the room, all eyes were on me, I'm not sure why but it always did that.It was like my presence was enough to make Everyone held their breaths and stared at me like there was something on my head beside my crown..But my eyes were on her when she came in, I couldn't look away. There was something I couldn't quite place my hands on about her; I knew she was weak, just by setting my eyes on her, the energy she gave off was low.Her beauty was mesmerizing, and her vibrant red hair, and blue eyes almost seemed to be dead, drawing anyone that looked at her eyes. They seemed to hold secrets and stories in t
**Audrey's POV**I woke up with a start when I heard a loud alarm blaring, signaling that it was the middle of the night.I looked at the clock close to where I laid and saw that it was already 4:04 AM, meaning that it was still too early to be up. After a second's thought, I quickly got dressed and headed downstairs where the noise came from and was surprised when I saw other slaves running up and down the hallway.I frowned in confusion wondering what must be happening until I saw Maria from afar and I ran to her."What's happening?" I asked."Go and collect your duty schedule immediately." She pointed to the line I had first walked past.I ran towards them standing in line immediately, they all were so busy running around and yelling and screaming that they didn't even notice me standing there until one pushed right into me causing me to fall on my butt as she yelled. She laughed loudly, without bothering about apologies; and then continued running, ignoring me completely and
**Audrey's POV**The sound of his voice made me shiver, but not in fear. I couldn’t quite explain why I suddenly got goosebumps all over; it almost felt like he had awoken something in my body, something I couldn’t quite understand."I said, who did this to you?" He asked as his hand went towards my face gently, but firmly. I winced from the contact, not sure of what his intentions were.I tried not to let my tears fall as he continued, his grip on my face tightened and he leaned closer. "Who." He demanded again."Uhm." I didn't know what to say, what could I say? "It doesn't matter anymore." His eyes widened slightly."Whenever I ask a question, I demand an answer so don't go telling me shit like it doesn’t matter when it obviously does!" He snarled in my face, I swallowed.Being in close proximity with him was alarming, I was aware of him, everything about him, how good he smelt, I wanted to sniff him right now, he was beautiful. My eyes wandered across his body, looking for flaw
**Kaden's POV**Walking away from her that day was the hardest thing I had ever done. She was like a virus that I had no cure for and I couldn’t help but think about her at every passing hour. I couldn't help it, her scent was intoxicating, everything about her was amazing; it drew me in, mesmerizing me.I wanted to run to the slave quarters and call her back. I wanted her, everything about her and even bed her immediately if she would agree to.She awoke the lust I didn't know I had in me, something I didn't really feel with my former mate, the mate pull was worse this time.I felt so drawn to her, even in the night while trying to sleep, she was in my thoughts.I stood up walking to the window, lost in thoughts. I looked out the window to the vast land beneath, showing silver rays of the moon shine down on me.It was a clear night sky, no clouds were around. The stars were out too and I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by it as I stared outside.A breeze swept through the window, ca
**Audrey's POV**My heart thumped loudly in my chest. I could still remember her stern instructions vividly, I’d planned on following it too but now I cannot remember how I’d been so drawn to the king that I totally forgot to stay away from him. As soon as she flew past the doorway like a bird, I immediately released my grip on him, and took a few steps backwards while I ignored his eyes that were presently narrowed at me.My breathing and pulse were ragged as I thought of what she would probably do to me now that she’d seen me, but at the same time, I tried to control myself, she was no God but simply someone I could easily maneuver my way around."What's wrong?" He asked and I immediately shook my head, forcing a smile.Almost immediately, I bowed to him and rushed out of his office, with my mind preoccupied with thoughts of how I would avoid the bitchy woman’s wrath.I walked quickly, stopping at the flower garden. It was quiet, peaceful, quite the best place to hide for a whi
**Audrey's POV**My eyes widened when I saw him. He looked clueless as he stepped out of the bathroom. His towel was wrapped tightly around his waist, his hair still wet, now had damp curls falling across his face, the water dripped down his chin, and down onto the floor, creating puddles on his feet.He looked so deliciously attractive and absolutely clueless that I wanted to touch his wet hair and frolic through its soft curls. I stared longingly at him, with my cheeks flushed. I could feel my cheeks heat up from the way he was looking so intensely into my eyes as if in search of clues; but then suddenly I looked away, feeling like quite an idiot for not being able to control myself around him. "I'm sorry." I muttered, glancing away.I couldn't help myself, my eyes trailed down the length of his body, from where I stood, I could see every single line, and every single crevice in his body; they called out to me, indulging me.His muscles were strong and defined, his chest slight
**Audrey's POV**I clamped my hands tightly and pressed my lips into a thin line as the door creaked open while I waited for whoever it must’ve been to come in.As soon as I saw that it was the man who showed to me the slave quarters the very first day I came here, I heaved a sigh of relief, ignoring the way the King started at me in confusion.I didn't know much about him and didn't want to, the fact that I knew he was harmless; and that he was the Lycan king's friend as well as his second in command was more than enough reason to feel slightly comfortable."There you are." He stood at the entrance, looking at me, and back at the king."Good evening, Beta." I bowed quickly, suddenly finding my voice. He stared at me, a small smile playing on his lips, "Hello there." He greeted me with a smile, which made me look confusedly up at him. The words sounded strange coming out of his mouth, even the expression on his face was quite inexplicable; almost like he was suggesting something.
*Kaden's POV*"Wow you're enjoying yourself." Adler chuckled loudly as soon as she practically ran out of the room, and even continued after she had finally disappeared down the corridor..At first I paid no attention to him but simply watched her run until I could no longer see her. I immediately turned to give him the stink eye.“You’re not going to try explaining the scene I was met with when I walked in here?” He asked cockily, and I rolled my eyes as I leaned on the door.“No.” I deadpanned.I saw the suggestive grin on his face, one that I really wanted to wipe off, but I said nothing about it. I knew him well enough to know that talking to him about it would mean an extremity of extreme teasing.I suddenly remembered how close she had been against me and the way her sweet feminine fragrance had assaulted my senses.I almost kissed her. I wanted to though because her lips had looked soft, really inviting; it looked like home. Her presence had filled me with a sudden surge of wi
With my hands planted firmly on my waist, I stared confusedly at the two crying babies in front of me and no matter what I did or said to calm them down, nothing seemed to be working. Seemingly Lost in confusion and not knowing what to do, I tried hard to comfort the crying babies in front of me but they instead laid, crying tirelessly that at a point, I did not know what else to do for they could not stop crying. I carried one of them in my arms and began to rock it gently, the other laid in the crib built for the two babies. I continued this way, giving turns to each of them as I held them in my arms attempting to get them to fall asleep but they wouldn’t. That did little to make them quit though and I grew frustrated but I knew I could not give up. I had tons of work to do, a lot of paperwork also and the thought of attending to those immediately after dropping these kids filled me with so much tiredness that I felt I would drop dead. Since the takeover from Jacob, there
Audrey's POVFeeling happy and fulfilled that I had fulfilled my words and that I had been able to Kill Jacob in the exact way I had imagined it, I smiled to myself thinking of how this was the first time I felt like I had done something worth deserving as I stared down at his decapitated body which was now covered in a of his own blood, and could vividly see the hole I made on his heart.A smile got stuck on my lips and I couldn't let it go. I allowed it, wondering why Ian had this weird stare on me."You finally killed the predator, after being the prey for so long. You're taking over the predator's land." I muttered to myself as I stared at his blood dripping neck, making trails as I walked, I wanted them to see that I had killed Jacob and ended his reign of terror and destruction.I walked out to the corridor where she listened to the silent gasps and the scared look on the faces of the people.I held the head in my hands and showed it to the people."This marks the end of this he
Audrey's POVI knew Jacob was a bit surprised that I had smiles all over my face, despite the fact that he had a knife pressed on my neck.He was a bit stubborn and I wondered what I would say to him that would make him move the knife away from my neck despite all the white lies I had told him. It was a little confusing to watch him and the cynical smile on his face and at the same time, I was bothered because I knew he was psychotic and could do anything."You could just remove this knife, I would surely guarantee your safety." I said quietly as he pressed the knife deeper into my neck, it was hurting but I couldn't let out a tear, knowing that it would mean defeat and I hated being defeated by clumsy enemies such as Jacob. "Do you expect me to believe you?" He retorted sharply as he pressed the knife, adding a little force to it. When he wasn’t watching, I tilted my head slowly, in a bid to pull my neck away from the sharp blade. "Come on, you have my word, I would surely beg Kad
Kaden's POVI loved the fact that Logan had to turn against his pack, knowing fully well that Jacob turned them against him. Having killed some of his men, Logan grew tired of killing and felt like setting it amicably. They surrounded him as he let down his guard, he told his men to do the same as they all stopped fighting, Jacob's soldiers were afraid, I guess filled with that thought that they were just leading them to a trap."Why won't you fight us?" The Chief guard questioned as the guard paved the way for him to walk through. "I can't, we can keep on wasting our strength on each other when the real devil is up there watching us." Logan explained, wondering how Logan tends to make this work, it would be hard and it might get ugly. "What do you mean?" The Chief guard was confused. "Jacob is a man that would surely have you all killed if need be. He wouldn't hesitate to threaten the lives of your family if you dare flout his orders" Logan uttered, wearing a smile on his face, ho
Kaden's POVI felt uneasy, knowing that I had my reservations with Audrey's plot, but I had to give in, she had it all planned out and now that I thought about it, mine had loopholes. If we had attacked Jacob as I planned, he would have escaped or better still led us into one of his unforseen traps which would leave us in jeopardy; harming my men, weakening my manpower and having a strong hold on my resources. But with Audrey's plot, she handles on the inside, while we take care of his men outside which would make everything even and provide Jacob with an extremely slim chance of escaping or having to use someone as bait while trying to escape. "I just hope Audrey succeeds with her plan, I'll take care of these ones here with my own plan," I muttered to myself, knowing that my men were also waiting for my signal.I assured myself, rigging off every fear and trying to remain at peace as I waited for a signal to show that Audrey was in trouble. For now though, I hadn't felt any pa
AUDREY’S POVI waited for Jacob’s reply to my sarcastic but true comment about the palace but it did not come, the intent of it had not fazed him a bit I noticed and I began to wonder what went on through his mischievous mind. Jacob gently placed his arm around my back and I flinched at the feel of his strong arms around me but let him guide me to a chair close to his throne. Surprisingly he had not still said anything in reply to the view I had concerning the place, perhaps he had sensed the sarcasm in my voice even though I suspected that he knew what I said was true. He acted really sweet towards me while I acted according to the script I was writing in my mind.I sat down calmly on the chair he had offered me and he sat on the enormous throne. We started to talk and he asked about my trip there, asking if I had any troubles on my way. I sweetly replied to him, not forgetting to remind him of how I was capable of taking care of myself. I wondered why he and Kaden always felt that
Audrey’s POVDespite the anger I felt coursing through my veins and spiking up my nerves, I managed to force a smile as the soldier who stood guard at the door to the throne room opened the huge doors for me to pass through. I stepped into the room slowly as if expecting to be met with some kind of trap and then stopped at some point to take my first real glance at the expanse of the room and the striking view ahead of me. I marveled at the sheer beauty it emitted but couldn’t help but think about how it had lost its shine. The palace, even though ancient as it was, was one of the most mesmerizing views I had ever had the pleasure of seeing. It looked different from what I remembered it to be; the structures were getting old, the decorations were fading out, and what made the room gorgeous most was no longer there – the glitter of people laughing and cheering happily nonstop, in love and harmony. The memory of how the palace used to be filled with love and glamor when it was still m
Audrey's POVI sat with my hands folded in front of me as I had become more than a little tense due to how much I was wondering what Kaden wanted to tell me that made him keep me in a weird suspense. I hated the fact that my heart raced, hoping that the news wouldn't affect me, or have anything to do with Kaden or Shantel but then from the expression on his face, it was difficult to ascertain if the news coming was a bad one or a good one. I gulped.Filling my head with irrelevant thoughts, I was getting confused as I felt someone holding my left palm, Shantel tilted her head upwards and down, assuring me that all would be fine. I hearkened to her with the evidence of doubt still writhing in me."You're making me uneasy, what is it that you wanted to tell me?" I stuttered as Kaden bowed his head down as he said in a low tone;"I can't tell you, when she's around. She has to leave us, it's personal and urgent.""That won't be possible, Shantel says. If I deserve to listen to this new
Audrey's POVI hated the fact that I had soiled my fingers trying to take down a guard, knowing that this was a test to show my strength and skills which I knew I didn't have. I just wanted to be able to fight off my enemies with my hands and legs in combat, which would be to my advantage and would come in handy whenever I would need to protect myself, knowing fully well that this was dark times and that Kaden's soldiers were dying in their numbers. It was hard to believe it, but they would just go missing and their dead body would be found, wondering what he was planning or his plans on how to catch this culprit that has murdered many men. I knew this was a plot to reduce Kaden's man power, and it was working effectively. Jacob knew this, and was using it to his advantage. "You're doing quite well, keep it up" Shantel said to me even though I knew I wasn’t doing any good. I knew that she was only being helpful, the smile on her face said the words she was hiding. This was her wa
