Chapter 2117

Author: Celestial Clouds
Claude was terribly embarrassed. He could not believe Medicis Manor had caused such a horrible thing. He worked the fields himself and always thought Wyldeweed was just a normal weed.

“I’m such a fool!” he lamented.

“Stop blaming yourself.” Adrian comforted him. “I heard that Dr. Matteo will be arriving soon. I wonder what’s the purpose of his visit.”

Claude shuddered. Matteo was not an ordinary person. He and Medicis Manor regularly had business dealings, and Medicis Manor would surely be doomed if they fell out.

“What do we do?” Clause asked.

“Don’t worry.” Adrian showed no panic. “Even if Dr. Matteo is using the Wyldeweed to make medicine, the dosage should be low. Moreover, there are replacements for it.”

Lionel was shocked. He had heard of this, but he was not sure about it. It was a surprise that Adrian knew so much. He was a Battle Warrior, so how did he know so much about herbs?

“How do you know?” Lionel asked.

Adrian looked to Claude. “If memory serves, there’s a Herb

Everyone was worried, but fortunately, they had learned how destructive Wyldeweed was. They would never touch it, as the consequences of getting addicted to it were terrifying.Adrian squinted. “Do you have more suspicions, Dr. Claude?”
Claude pulled out a receipt. It was the list of herbs he had prepared for Matteo. “Look at the list. I suspect that something’s wrong with these Sol Pills.”Adrian glanced at the receipt before handing it to Lionel. “I don’t know what Sol Pills are.”“It’s a supplement the wealthy take.” Although Lionel had mostly wandered aimlessly through Debonaire, he had learned about all sorts of herbs.Bucky explained, “Sol Pills are extremely precious, said to rejuvenate a person by 10 years. I’ve never seen it before though and have only heard of it.”“And Dr. Matteo wants a lot of it.” Adrian glanced at the receipt. “Where are these pills? I’d like to try one.”“I haven't found them yet,” Claude said, sounding a little crestfallen, “And I’ve looked thro

Matteo became even more furious. "Do you have any idea who I am?!""I do. You’re Dr. Matteo," Adrian replied, his tone dripping with disdain. This response caught Matteo off guard. Despite Adrian recognizing him, the lack of reverence on Adrian’s part was too audacious for his liking. He could not let it pass."I demand to see Axel.""Sorry," Adrian answered flatly, "You won't be able to see him.""But I must!" Matteo seethed with anger and embarrassment. He had never encountered such impertinence—someone who dared to defy his wishes.Hendrick, fighting back the urge to laugh, kept his head down. He was wary of Matteo's short fuse that might flare up if he showed any disrespect. However, Adrian remained composed. "Dr. Matteo, it's not that I'm unwilling to assist, but I simply can’t. If you insist on seeing Mr. Axel...""Axel and I have an agreement," Matteo haughtily declared. "It's time for him to fulfill his end of the bargain. None of this concerns you in any way."Adrian

Hendrick, who had since become completely convinced of Adrian's authority and was willing to comply with his orders, did not wish to see Adrian hurt.As he pumped his fists in the air, he shouted, "Take him down!""Can you show some decorum, you old coot?" Matteo felt a pang of annoyance. With Adrian backing him, Hendrick stood tall, no longer subservient to Matteo. "There's no need for courtesy when dealing with intruders. Not tearing you apart is already a mercy."Matteo was dumbfounded. A mere majordomo, dressed like a humble farmer, dared to challenge him?!Hearing Hendrick's words, Adrian lost his desire to fight. He had already proven Ezra's inferiority, forcing him to retreat step by step."Leave!" he growled. With a gentle push of his hand, Adrian sent Ezra flying. If not for Ezra's quick reflexes, he would have met the ground face-first.Matteo's expression soured. He realized that the rumors that Adrian possessed great fighting skills were true, and he no longer dared

A particular illness? Lionel had not heard of such an occurrence as it had not existed in Navia. He was a cautious person, and if he had not personally witnessed something, he would not outright deny its existence. He looked to Adrian, indicating he had no more information to contribute, and briskly left the hall.Adrian chuckled lightly. "Dr. Matteo, I don't mean to challenge your expertise, but the Herb Compendium, is that a book you authored?""Yes, it is." Matteo shone with pride. "That's the culmination of my life's work. It's a legacy. I personally tested each item in it through numerous experiments."Adrian smiled approvingly. ‘What a responsible physician,’ he thought. He then said, "But the book clearly stipulates that only the roots of the Wyldeweed should be used medicinally. The leaves should never be utilized."Matteo was struck speechless.Bucky, unable to contain his laughter, ran out to the courtyard. The sounds reached the hall, making the atmosphere awkward.A

Adrian felt a tinge of disappointment, though he acknowledged some progress had been made. Sensing Rozi's dejection, he held her hand and offered an encouraging smile.Matteo was greatly surprised. Green Plum Grass was a prized possession in Debonaire, and even he seldom had access to it. Adrian's request for it led him to speculate that Adrian aimed to seize it."I suggest you forget about it," Matteo said loudly, "Mr. Leeroy won’t part with the Green Plum Grass unless it's a matter of life or death.""I need the Green Plum Grass to save someone," Rozi insisted, "Mr. Leeroy wouldn't be unwilling to help in such a critical situation, right?"Matteo hesitated to speak, knowing that Rozi had no chance of obtaining such potent medicinal herbs since she belonged to the Sun Tribe. The social hierarchy in Debonaire was strict, and the lives of the Sun Tribe members were undervalued. Yet, he dared not voice this out loud. Witnessing Adrian's remarkable strength moments ago, Matteo thought

Just then, Claude walked into the hall. Matteo breathed a sigh of relief. Being doubted by others was truly uncomfortable. After he proved his identity and recovered the Sol Pills, he decided to not stay a moment longer."Here's a thousand chrystals," Matteo declared haughtily, "The goods are also at your doorstep. Please have someone verify them."Adrian was surprised. Matteo's swift desire to leave was probably due to the shame he had endured. He asked, "Are you not going to stay for a few days, Dr. Matteo?""I have other matters to attend to," Matteo said, unable to bear Adrian's disdain.Claude was worried. Matteo would normally stay at Medicis Manor for about ten days to half a month, deciding on the supplies for the next year."Dr. Matteo!" Claude called out, "Do you not want to do business with us anymore?"Matteo gave no response, climbed into his carriage, and left.Adrian comforted Claude, "Don't worry too much. Several people have contacted me to buy medicinal herbs.

"There’s no Wyldeweed left!" Randy suddenly erupted into loud sobs, rolling across the ground and grabbing nearby stones to strike his head.Hendrick attempted to restrain him, but Randy exhibited unexpected strength. He pushed Hendrick away and continued to harm himself.Adrian was alarmed, but he swiftly slapped Randy, rendering the man unconscious. Adrian now understood that if addicts could not access Wyldeweed, they would opt for self-destruction.Adrian urgently called for Lionel. After Lionel inserted a few silver needles into Randy, the latter stirred. He looked disoriented, surprised by his surroundings. "How did I get here?"Hendrick, displeased, remarked, "You owe Mr. Adrian your gratitude. Without his intervention, you might’ve died."Randy quickly knelt to express his gratitude.Adrian gestured for him to leave. "Don't come back here. There's no Wyldeweed in Medicis Manor. If you ever struggle with your addiction again, tie yourself up immediately."Randy nodded obe

After reading the notice that Medicis Manor put up, no one dared to enter casually. They just loitered around the perimeter, leaving Claude feeling anxious and restless. Claude went to find Adrian. "This isn't right. The constant cries and howls are putting everyone in a bad mood,” he said.Adrian noticed Rozi was sporting panda-like eyes, probably from lack of sleep. "They're a nuisance. Can't they understand plain words?” she said."I'll think of a solution." Adrian rubbed his temples in frustration. "Why do they insist on being as persistent as flies?"Lionel strongly opposed, "I want to take them in. I've gained some insights now. Maybe I can help them recover." He looked at Adrian with a pleading expression. "But I need your help. Can you assist me?""No problem." Adrian readily agreed, already understanding what Lionel wanted. "You may use my authority to intimidate them, but it won't be that easy."Lionel looked smug as he replied, "If you're willing to help, half the bat

You really caught us all by surprise, kid. Still, I'll count this as you repaying me a favor."For Finnian, the outcome couldn't have been better. With a broad smile, he seemed to have achieved his desired result. Adrian's successful climb was all that mattered to him.Once Adrian had vanished, the focus shifted to the rest of the group and their trials. When Adrian opened his eyes again, his entire body ached, but an oddly comforting sensation flowed through him. Adrian's expression turned cold as he locked his gaze on the steps ahead. Determination flickered in his eyes. "If reaching the top guarantees a reward, it doesn't have to be me up there. Adrian pondered his situation, his cold gaze reflecting simmering frustration. Yet deep down, he recognized that whoever had designed the staircase was far from ordinary.Creating such a formidable trial required unimaginable power.Even a pinnacle Void Stage expert—or perhaps someone of the Multiply Stage—might bow in reverence before the ladder's creator."He won't last much longer.
