Chapter 1823

Author: Celestial Clouds
Adrian was knocked down by the falling rocks as he shielded Marissa and Ava. The crypt was plunged into darkness. Rozi then brought out her sword and used its glow to see and help Adrian out of the rubble.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

"Adrian, please get up," Marissa added, reaching out to help him too.

Adrian got to his feet and said, "He found us, so we can't stay here for long. We have to leave the moment we get what we need, or he'll do whatever it takes to kill us here." He then summoned Dragonbane, which radiated an intense light that illuminated the crypt.

It was a small crypt, and the area where the trios were standing was the main hall, with the central chamber ahead and several side chambers leading off from it. The central chamber contained a decrepit coffin which retained a little of its original look.

"He's coming," Marissa said nervously, clutching Ava tightly while taking cover behind Adrian.

Rozi fell silent and readied herself.

"Did they go to Wonder's world?" Adrian’s brows furrowed."Yes, that's exactly where they went. A total of eighteen people went there."Adrian pondered for a moment. War Legate Achelous was one of the most mysterious war legates throughout Wyvern Peak's history, and he also had the longest tenure of thirty years. He was the one who founded Dragon Peak as well. His activities were quite enigmatic, and there was one mission that no one knew anything about.Achelous took office at the age of twenty-four. He was fifty years old when he had Nadine, whose mother was twenty years younger than himself. At that thought, Adrian asked, "What happened after that?""War Legate Achelous wanted to find out the truth, so he ordered my father to retire and entrusted him with the secret of what he saw in the Celestial Lake. It was my father who had entered the Celestial Lake and saw the future. Achelous was killed by outlanders, but my father suspected he was behind it.""He?" Henri nodded. "A f

Henri's words left Adrian and Rozi in shock.A girl from the Otherworld? And this woman could control the Timewinder, an artifact Wonder had left behind? But who was this girl and where was the Timewinder? These were the questions that puzzled Adrian the most. He looked at Henri with a serious expression. "Who is this girl? What's her name? Where’s the Timewinder? Was it your father who told you all this?"Henri shook his head. "The prophecy didn't reveal any more details than that, nor do I have any information about them. However, I can confirm that the girl has already been born."Adrian and Rozi exchanged glances, their interest piqued about this extraordinary girl's identity.Rozi asked, "Henri, did your father leave any other messages apart from this information? Perhaps about the eagle?""No. My father's prophecy only mentioned the girl and the Timewinder. I don't know anything about this eagle you talk about."Adrian finally understood something. "Looks like Wonder divid

Cough! Henri spat out another mouthful of blood and looked to be in excruciating pain. "My body couldn’t withstand the genetic mutation my father went through, so I've had to null the pain with the help of the meteorites.“I've been hiding from him this whole time, but your coming here has allowed him to find me. And now, he has destroyed the meteorites. He can no longer reset humanity due to the severe damage he sustained. However, he's the one who left these meteorites here, so he has the power in the world to destroy them. Now that they’ve been destroyed, I will promptly follow.”Henri's body curled up, his expression one of agony.Adrian took a deep breath. "Is there anything I can do to help you?" Henri flatly said, "Kill me, or I'm going to turn into like those monsters you saw in Enigma City. The worms in my body have reactivated, so after you've killed me, I need you to burn me. I don't want to become the worms' puppets."Adrian brought out his gun and aimed it at Hen

Marissa was crestfallen, but there was nothing she could do for the cats.Rozi did not seem very interested in the cats and instead asked, "What about the children in the mine? We don't have a car, and we can’t get back through the tunnel. I doubt we'd get to the cave within the day, and there's no telling what might happen during that time." "We fight him," Adrian replied."What?! How?" Rozi asked.Adrian's face was filled with unwavering determination. He was no longer willing to resign his fate to the Creator."I'm weaker than him in terms of strength, but he's definitely not as smart as me." ***Five days later…Krr… Krr… Krr…The communicator emitted some static noises that cleared after three minutes."Does anyone read me? Skylar stood to attention. "It really is you, sir! Don't worry, I'll do my best to take care of Sormbay. May I ask where you are right now? How's everyone doing?" "Skylar, I need you to inform everyone in Sormbay that I've found a way to deal with our situation. Those who vanished may be able to come back. Until that happens, I need everyone to focus on surviving and not give up hope. We'll be fighting that shadow in the sky together someday.""Of course, sir. I'll pass on your message." "All right, now, I need you to send a team to the coordinates I just gave you. I'm currently finding some way to defeat our enemy. In the meantime, I need everyone to remain on standby for my orders. Also, the major cities have been organized, and the battle warriors and godkings are taking care of them. We have hope, so make sure nobody falls into despair.” "Yes, sir. Adrian and Rozi went off on the bus. He had no plans to look for the girl or the Timewinder for now as he did not know where they were. He had to locate the eagle artifact first if he wanted to proceed further. The location of the artifact was clear—Mount Shangspar.***Time passed by quickly. While on the way to Mount Shangspar, Adrian could see the Evercrest soldiers fighting valiantly far away on their way to Geras. Thousands of civilians were gathered on the street, witnessing the signs of the battle that had lasted for seven days. The Evercrest soldiers had no idea how much longer they would last, nor were they aware of how many of their comrades had died in action. Yet, none of them had any intention of stopping. The train tracks across the distance had been cleaned up, and the Geras soldiers were defending them as they waited for the train to arrive. They were exhausted and the civilians had starved for three days. They were waiting for their food rations to arrive. Rattl

The moment their mission would be completed was almost at hand.A deep silence fell over Geras City. All of its citizens were weeping uncontrollably. As the soldiers too cried their hearts out, Juan yelled through his own tears, "Stop the train!" Rattle, rattle, rattle! The soldiers started pulling at the train and its carriages, which finally came to a halt after half an hour. Juan and his men then opened up the carriages and found the food supplies intact. However, everything had been dyed red by the blood of their comrades.
