“Oh! Is that why you are worried? He deserves what he got,” she stated happily and his brother berated her, “How come you sound so happy when you just lost your husband today?”

“He is no more my husband. We were divorced before his fortunate death.”

“Oh, my God! Fortunate death? When did the death of a husband become fortunate?”

“Yes. It is fortunate because he wanted to kill me. Could you believe that he beat me up this morning and I …”

Gerald doubted and interrupted her, “Beat you up? How come?”

To make him believe her, she began to sob, “Yes (sob, sob). He kicked my stomach (sob) and I suffered (sob, sob) a miscarriage. I lost your nephew (sob, sob).”

Gerald was silent for a while and after digesting her story, he simply asked, “When is the burial? Samuel and I would like to be present and pay our tribute.”

“Burial? Tribute? For what?” His father thundered from the background and Laura supported him.

“Did you hear that? I don't think he deserves such an honor. Besides, the soldiers took his miserable corpse away after killing him.”

“Oh, no! Does that mean that you did not follow them up to retrieve his corps? He is your husband for crying out loud.”

“He was,” she corrected him, “And I owe him no allegiance anymore,” she elucidated.

“It's a crying shame that you will allow your husband to be killed like a chicken,” Gerald poured out his heart and cut the call angrily.

Laura felt disrespected and cried out, “He cut the call on me, Dad, and Mom. I will not continue to sponsor his education if he continues to be rude to me.”

“Bear with him, my dear,” her mother pleaded.

Her father was not left out, “Your mother is right. He is only a child.”

“How can an eighteen-year-old boy who has no respect for his big sister still be a child?” She asked angrily. Although the siblings love and respect each other, they bicker over the ill-treatment given to Tim. Now, his death and their nonchalance were the height of it.

“Tim's death should not come between you and your siblings, my dear,” her mother advised.

“We should remain as one indivisible family now that we have come to an enviable height,” her father advised too.

At Tim's New Apartment

He had his dinner calmly for the first time in a long while. He was not disturbed by unkind words from Laura

(Stop eating too much because you do not contribute to the upkeep of the family.)

(You can't eat now. Wait until I am hungry and ready to eat.)

He mulled over the day's events and smiled softly. Howbeit, he rounded up his dinner and left the dining table. He was sitting on the couch when he sent for his Orderly.

“Good evening, Boss. I am here.”

“Yes, Orderly. Sit down.”

The Orderly sat down on the edge of the couch beside his and waited for him to speak.

“What is your name?” He looked into his eyes and asked.

“My name is George Young, Boss.”

“I see. How old are you, George?”

“I'm twenty years old, Boss.”

He admired him and was happy with his confident demeanor. Then, he asked further, “What do you know about the Auxiliary Armory PLC?”

“I know that the Chairman, Gen. Sidney McDonald retired today and the Head of State appointed a new General to take over as the Third in Command and the Chairman of the company.”

“You are right, George. If I may ask, who is the new General?”

“I don't know him. The news did not show his pictures but I know that his name is Gen. Tim Williams.”

“That is good to hear. Why do you think the new Chairman's pictures were not displayed?”

George gave him a questioning look and vacillated. Tim smiled at his ignorance of the answer and advised him, “If you don't know the answer please let me know. I will teach you.”

Nevertheless, George was not comfortable admitting that he was ignorant of the answer and attempted to provide one, “I think it is for security reasons.”

“You got it. Above all, his information is classified.”

“I got it, Boss. Permit my ignorance,” he apologized shyly. Tim beamed with pleasure and encouraged him, “No. You have not transgressed. The ability to learn what you don't know makes you wiser. Okay?”

“I got it, Boss. Thank you for putting me through.”

“You are welcome. If you would like to work with me, learn to always ask questions when you are in doubt. Did you get me?”

“Yes, Boss.”

“Good. Don't work on assumptions because the results can be negative.”

“I got it. Thank you, Boss.”

“You are welcome. Prepare yourself. We are resuming in the morning at the Auxiliary Armory PLC.”

George shuddered and fixed his gaze at him. Tim expected his reaction and disregarded it. Likewise, he took time to prepare George for work.

“You can leave,” he ordered him afterward.

“Thank you, Boss. Good night,” he said and left.

Thereafter, Tim walked to his luxurious bedroom and lay on his cozy bed before fiddling with his phone. He watched the video of all that happened in Laura's house that morning from his phone and asked himself, “How can she say that I beat her up when the evidence is there?”

Likewise, he meditated on his last few days with her and concluded, “She lied that she suffered a miscarriage just to get the sympathy of the Human Rights Activists and divorce me. That is weird.”

He watched the television for the news. His face beamed when he watched the Head of State's broadcast. After a few minutes, he went to sleep.

The Next Day

At Laura's House.

She was like a hunter who succeeded in killing an elephant without a proper arrangement on how to carry the meat home. At that point, she had brought herself to the limelight and her actions and counter actions mattered a lot. To impress her new boss and butter him up on her father's behalf, she dressed gorgeously which did not portray a lady who suffered a miscarriage or lost a man she once loved.

“Let's go. We need to get to a floral shop,” she ordered her team members.

“I got it, Boss,” the Head of Security accepted and repeated her words to the team, “Fall in. All of you. We need to get to a floral shop first before going to the office.”

“Okay, Sir,” they answered. He opened the backdoor of her tinted classic car for her and she got in majestically. Then, he got into the front seat and they moved. She was turned up for the books when she did not see any reporter at her gate.

“It is good that these pests are not here. I won't suffer any delay,” she thought to herself. To her rude awakening, they got to the estate gate and could not move because the pressmen had blocked the road.

“Oh, my God! Did they sleep here?” She vociferated loudly.

“This is serious! I know what to do, Boss,” the Head of Security announced and got out of the car. He walked to the crowd and ordered, “Go away, all of you.”

“We want to interview Mrs. Dickson-Williams,” the reporters announced.

“Yes. We need an update on her health,” another person emphasized. Now, to retain his job, he had to think quickly, “Oh, I think you miscalculated. Mrs. Williams returned to the hospital last night. As you can see, we are going to work early because of that.”“Oh, my God! Did her condition worsen?”“Is she traumatized?” They asked in quick succession. To avoid giving the wrong answer or causing more delay, he smiled and responded, “She will respond to your questions when you see her.”“You're right.”“Kindly make way for us, or you may not see her this morning.”“You are right, Officer.” “Let's move to the clinic, comrades,” one of the reporters shouted to the rest and they moved. The officer walked back to the car and they moved too. However, they had lost some time. We have a token of appreciation for the Chairman,” the General Manager announced and looked at Laura for her presentation. She stepped forward and presented the gifts. Although they were bought with her fund, the General Manager had hijacked it and made it look like the company's official gift. Nevertheless, she must make it known that it was personal.“Well …”The General Manager interrupted her and continued, “On behalf of the Management and Staff of Auxiliary Armory PLC, accept this as a symbol of our love and

“Our brother-in-law is dead, Big brother,” he informed Gerald.“I am aware. Get ready, we will go home tomorrow.”“Better. I hope we will be permitted to leave?”“Of course. The news of his death is all over the airwaves.”“It is okay.” At Laura's HouseThe distance from their school, Chilham, to the house, was thirty minutes. They arrived a few minutes before 10 AM and were surprised that nobody was mourning Tim. Besides, Laura had gone to work as though nothing happened, and hell was let loose.“Dad and Mom, what has he done to deserve such treatment? Is he not part of the family?” Gerald blurted out.“Even if he was a dog, ain't you bothered that he was killed without trial? Can't we get justice for him?” Samuel added, and their parents aggravated things with their answers, “I would rather get justice for my dog than for a wife beater.”“Especially the one who beat my daughter and caused the death of my grandchild.”At that time, Samuel was distraught and stated, “Who would not b

At The Auxiliary Armory PLCWhen Tim informed the Head of State that he did not want to inherit Gen. McDonald's staff members, he planned to investigate and lay off those who would not be loyal to him. Apart from that, he wished to find out if he had accomplices among the staff members. All the same, he continued following up the meeting. So, far, George was representing him well.“I wish to thank you, for your cooperation. The President would be happy to hear this,” George smiled and appreciated them after the meeting. They smiled genuinely and answered one after the other, “It is my pleasure, Sgt. Young.”“Wow! I am glad to have you, Sergeant."“It was a wonderful time being with you. I have learned one or two things,” the Personnel Manager stated happily and the people laughed. Although he coded the new thing that he learned it was obvious that he meant how he put Laura where she belonged.“I'm happy that I added to your knowledge, Capt. He ignored the call and concentrated on his video. Now, George and the General Manager walked out of the department and headed to the Accounts Department. He was able to visit seven departments and ended up in the Production Department. He looked at the guns and the other products and requested, “Can I have your latest product for the President's perusal?”“Oh, that is interesting! You can have this,” the Production Manager, Capt. Andy Miles agreed and handed a handgun to him. He appreciated him and left. Likewise, he faced the General Manager and appreciated him, “Thank you, Capt. Bolton for having me. It's been nice working with you.”The captain was elated and responded at once, “I'm delighted to be of help, Sgt. Young. My regards to the President.”“I will do that,” he answered and walked on without looking at the fatigued Laura.“Goodbye, Sgt. At the Gate. After the call, the officers advised, “Young men. I will advise you to go home and continue your search elsewhere. There is nothing like that here.”Before the officer ended his speech, Samuel had started crying. He was certain that Tim was killed unjustly and they wished to cover their acts up. Apart from not getting across to him, the anguish of his brutal killing and death overwhelmed them and they wept profusely. The befuddled officers were in a dilemma. Any passerby would assume that they were flogged by them.“He is not a bad man. We only need his corpse for a proper burial,” Samuel pleaded.“Go back to school. We don't know what you are talking about,” an officer blurted out and he regretted it.“We will not leave without his body. This is injustice. How can we condone this in the military? To kill a civilian without trial,” Gerald sobbed and the three officers were incapacitated by their utterances which were indicting. To compound their problem, the accusations

We don't have any record of such a thing here,” the Major pointed out but they insisted. Their big sister and mother could not be lying when they said that he was killed by the soldiers and taken away in a helicopter.“Major, we are certain that he was killed by the military and taken away with a helicopter,” Gerald stated.“We are not asking for justice for him, Major but give us his body for a proper burial,” Samuel requested. The confused Major looked at their puffed eyes and told himself that he had a serious problem. To his chagrin, George could not even drive a screw into a hole. He laughed softly and asked, “Is it difficult for you?”Unhesitatingly, he answered, “Yes, Boss.”“That is a good one to own up. Tim walked into George's office and they locked eyes. He noticed that he was sad and inquired, “What's up, Boss?”“I don't know how the boys would cope with a new Commandant,” he sat down and responded.“You just said my mind. You should have advised the Second in Command.”“The Head of State distorted his work after he submitted the list to him.”“Ha! He must have his reasons.”“What could be his reason? That was the man responsible for the scandal against him,” Tim blurted out.George was bewildered and he locked eyes with him. After a while, he spoke, “Maybe he wished to disgrace him by sending him to where he cannot function well.”Tim looked at him for a while before he said, “You may be right. I have not thought of that. But he should not joke with the children's studies.”“Let's watch out.”Tim wanted to speak but the door opened and he halted. George smiled when he saw the visitor. Tim turned and saw the General Manager. He got up at once and greeted him, “Good morning, Maj.

Does it mean that he is compensating him for working against his government?”Kay walked to his swivel chair and sat down while Tim sat on the visitor's seat and waited for his response.“That is the challenge. He will assume that his act was not discovered.”Tim noticed that he was angry and pacified him, “Don't let it bother you. Just publish the postings.”“Thank you for your conce
