At The Estate

Pa Dickson and his wife were watching the television and lazing around when Laura returned. She walked into their apartment to check on them as was her practice. Presently, they had adjusted to the janitor's cooking and life was sweet to an extent as they hoped that the boys would come back someday.

“You are back,” her father welcomed her delightedly while her mother focused on her.

“Yes, Dad. Good evening Mom and Dad.”

“Good evening, my dear. How was your day?”

“My day was good. And yours?” She asked and sat down on the single couch.

“Our day was …,”

“Knock. Knock.”

Her mother was interrupted by the knock on the door.

Meanwhile, Capt. Sawyer wished to see the apartment and instruct his workers on what to do before closing for the day. For that, he was not interested in seeing the occupant of the house who ought to have moved out long ago. He arrived with the company's operational truck, the gallons of paint, and the other materials needed for the work.
