The Birthday

Samuel was in high spirits as the birthday drew closer, and it affected everyone, especially the old man who was always at home with him. Their union was a relief to Tim and the others who go to work because they had learned to be alone.

Meanwhile, Samuel was a lovely chap to be with and for the first time, the old man remembered that he had no physical money.

“How do I support him on his birthday?” He asked himself.

After much deliberation, he concluded, “He will revoke the fixed deposit account and get some precious stones. We can sell them and get some cash.”

George returned from work that day, and he informed him of his intentions. George did not want to argue with him.

“How much do you wish to support him with?” He asked after listening to him.

His father informed him of the amount and he accepted it, “It is all right. Is there anything else you want me to know?”

“Nothing for now,” he answered and he left for his room.

They converged at the dining table that night and discussed
