Melissa was still holed up in a secret location, constantly looking over her shoulder. She couldn't shake off the fear of Romeo finding her again.

But she couldn't stay in hiding forever. She needed to know if Laura was safe.She took a deep breath and picked up her phone. She typed out a text message to Clifton.

"Hey, have you seen Laura? Is she okay?" Melissa sent the message, hoping for a response.

But several hours passed and there was no reply from Clifton. Melissa's anxiety grew as she imagined the worst case scenarios. She began to pace around the small room, biting her nails.
